Hi! Since this video left my usual circle I want to put this here! I appreciate if you can read it. :) 1) This place is Florida-tei (フロリダ亭) in Tokyo. It’s delicious and you should try it! 2) I’m not versed in Sri Lankan cuisine as you can tell by the title. I just post vlogs on my life for memories and this one happened to get popular. Thanks for watching! 3) The restaurant has a tutorial on how to eat their dish. I simply followed that tutorial. I’m sure they made it easy to follow for any Japanese people or tourist that come in since we are not used to eating with our hands. The name of the dish on the menu is Banana Leaf Curry which is why I call it that. Thanks for watching!
Aww hope u enjoyed the dish, the curries are deffo authentic srilankan, I have them once in a while. I'm surprised Japan has srilankan food available. If u ever want to try srilankan food again, u deffo should try kotthu roti and watalappum for dessert
Traditionally Sri Lankan food is eaten with just your hands, no utensils 😘 I have never tried it yet! I have friends in Sri Lanka & I hope to travel there some day! Love from Canada ❤🇱🇰🇨🇦
So nice to see you experience our food. Everyone recommends eating by hand so that you can take a little bit of each item and mix it with the rice with each bite you take, it’s so much more flavorful. I hope you get to experience more of our cuisine when you visit someday.
I'm a Srilankan and it feels so amazing to see a foreigner eating our food.....Usually we use our hand to eat.....yeah exactly sri lankan foods are really delicious....u should come visit sri lanka oneday to see the beauty of our mother Sri lanka or i call the pearl of the Indian ocean😊❤❤❤
In sri lanka we use banana leaf to put food becuase it make the food tastier If you eat sri Lankan food again i suggest you eat with your hand because that is how we eat traditionally
My sri lankan mom would kill me, if i mix everything first..😅😅 you have to mix only the part you are intending to eat..thats the rule..and you keep mixing as you eat..the underneath reason for this is, when i past where food is scare, someone else can eat from same plate where you left off. So the other person does not feel bad.. also looks good on eyes
U don't mix everything at once, first you take a small portion of rice and mix all the other things together with your hand and then pop it in to your mouth Love from srilanka 🇱🇰🇱🇰🇱🇰
You can’t expect foreigners to eat with their hands. I know eating rice and curry with your hands makes it taste infinitely better but try to be a little bit more understanding of other cultures when you comment things like this?
@@maxwellblaze7902 nobody in Sri Lanka really 'expects' foreigners or locals to eat with hands when trying Sri Lankan food. I'm a sri lankan girl and since elementary school, we're not allowed to eat food with our hands, it's a rule that we must eat with fork and spoon (I went to a government girls school). The guy who has put the above comment is only saying the common way to eat Sri Lankan food is with hands because it definitely tastes better but nobody really expects you or anyone to eat that way lol. It's totally up to you to decide 😅❤
@@Stealthy8Gaming I've been punished by my section head for eating with hands for more than 6-7 times during my school time. They randomly keep coming to check whether we're eating with hands; if we do then there's are punishments after the interval. It's an absolute rule in our school to eat with fork and spoon :))
Ideally, the first digits of the fingers of the right hand should be used to mix the rice and curry. Also you don’t mix everything at once. You take a little of everything to the edge and then mix that bite before you go for more. The plate should look neat when you eat.

I don't understand what that is, looks a fusion of kabsa + biriyani + mandhi + fried rice. Or in simper terms, a random rice dish. What is it called? Can any Sri Lankan care to explain?
@@ohhhtaffy you have to eat part by part kinda thing, mixing it all together makes it kinda bad and lot of times when you mix it, you will have enough and don't want to eat fully and then you will get hungry again quickly, you know when like eating ramen or something when it gets cold you don't want to eat it that much as when it's hot, it's kinda like that but still it's good.
