Today we’re continuing our series where we attempt to recreate a recipe that Gordon Ramsay has ruthlessly roasted on his TikTok page: a ramen grilled cheese sandwich made by Josh at Mythical Kitchen! We thought this recipe actually looked kind of good, so we wanted to try it for ourselves and see if Gordon’s disgust was justified!

HELLO and welcome back to this series where we try out recipes that Gordon Ramsay absolutely despises!! What did you guys think about this ~ramen grilled cheese~? Despite how salty it was, I personally think, under the right circumstances, I would definitely eat it again. What other dish that Gordon hates, should we try?
See I hate american cheese, it's so bad. But I would definitely consider giving this a try with some other cheeses. Colby-jack, provolone, chedder etc. Also I bet it'd be good with sliced tomato in the middle

I lost a lot of respect for Gordon for that video, not to mention the weird porn star like breathy voice he used as he described his burnt, non melted cheese as beautiful every other second.

Josh trolled Gordon right back showing the grilled cheese Gordon made in a video where the cheese wasn't melted at all and he burnt the bread but kept calling it beautiful when you can clearly see it isn't.
As a parent of a 9 and 11 year old daughters, white bread, kraft singles and ramen is an essential in my kitchen at ALL times. I make grilled cheese sandwiches for chicken noodles soup, for tomato soup and basically any other soup.
I had grilled cheese with tomato soup for the first time about a year ago and omg how did I not try it earlier? Dipping the grilled cheese into the soup is amazing, it was so good and I think it's the fastest I've eaten, I just couldn't slow down.

Tyler, It looked to me like Josh used Sriracha ketchup, not regular... the green lid is a dead giveaway.
If you watch the original video Josh said ketchup never mentioned sriracha 🤦🏻♀️💁🏻♀️ Carly is following exactly what josh did in the original video
The green lid definitely means there is siracha in there.
correct way to watch: get 3 minutes in, decide you also want a bowl of top ramen, make ramen, resume video while eating
I think this sandwich definitely needed a tomato soup especially with all of the noodles making it more dry.

ETA: i am absolutely mesmerised by the fact that Saf raises both her eyebrows in a sultry way but at completely different speeds and styles. And Tyler bouncing has a vibe between a mating dance and an elegant courtly reel. Amazing

In Charlotte, there's a food truck called Papi Queso which serves Mac and cheese grilled cheese. There's one that has pulled pork bbq in it and frankly I think that's what the ramen grilled cheese is missing. I bet if you added some chicken and BBQ sauce it would be incredible

I think I like the energy of this channel so much more than their "bigger" channel. Both Saf and Tyler seem so much more relaxed, and like "themselves" in these videos? The overall vibe of the videos on this channel is so comforting. I love it!
I feel like we have come so far from the early TIY days and Tyler is now so confident in the kitchen and I love it.
Yalls videos have been with me through so many seasons. The night before my C19-affected wedding, I laid in bed watching Safty wedding content & crying bc my best friend (a fellow fan) couldn't be there for the big day. Tonight, I found out my grandfather passed. I'm up late still in shock & sadness, but something about yall uploading was comforting to have you both with me here. Josh is a darn good, inventive chef.
This immediately reminds me of the kind of mac and cheese sandwich that some of those hip sandwich places have. Those are really good, obviously. It’s mac and cheese inside of two pieces of buttered brioche bread. And this ramen cheese sandwich is the same idea-ramen and macaroni are both noodles. Noodles, cheese, and make it a sandwich, yum.
...I'm going to have to make this, and I'm not sure whether to blame you or thank you, LOL.

im forever angry that my fav bar took their mac n cheese & barbecue pork sandwich off the menu 😔 that thing slapped so hard. it was a perfect balance of savory, sweet, and tangy.
Growing up we didn't have grilled cheese and tomato soup, we had grilled cheese and ramen. My sister and I would scoop some ramen onto the grilled cheese and eat it like that, so this actually makes a lot of sense to me

I’ve definitely made a simpler version of this while hammered on multiple occasions! I didn’t do the whole grilled cheese in the pan but cheese, chicken ramen and bread have definitely been combined for a late night snack. I don’t see anything wrong with this at all. Gordon just does what the people expect sometimes 😂
I’m sick right now and it’s currently 1 am and I got up to make some ramen and a grilled cheese separately because this low key looked amazing and then ended up combining it. I can confirm it tastes great when your slightly drowsy and it’s late

We used to use old hotdog buns for cheese bread. Just break the buns in half, put cheese on the cut side, put them in the toaster oven on broil until the cheese starts to bubble and turn brown. It's basically grilled cheese.
Spare hot dog buns make good garlic bread too
Precisely. While this isn't my vibe in the sense of way too much carbs for one sitting, much the same way yakisobapan isn't, it's certainly a viable dish on its own. Gordon was sitting a bit too much on a high horse with this opinion, especially after his own grilled cheese flop.

Watched this and then immediately made it for lunch. 🤣 It was really good. I made the ramen with the broth and then dipped it into the broth. Was very good like that.

I would make something similar, but make a ramen pizza. Make the ramen with the flavoring and Melt it with cheese. Then put a bed of tortillas down (either two of the giant plate size ones or like four or five of the small ones) and then put meat and cheese on there, heating that up, then put the ramen on that, heating it all to melt it together, and then cut out slices almost like a pizza slice.
Gordon is my favorite celebrity chef and probably my number 1 celebrity crush of all time. And y’all are my favorite channel of all time… more of this please

is that just replacing the mac part for noodles? I haven’t tried that but I’ve put the occasional cheese cube into noodles. not let it melt but just to get warm and flavour it and that’s been amazing.

This looks amazing! I sometimes do a much more simplified riff on this, where I put leftover mac and cheese on two slices of bread and butter and make a sandwich out of that. Making it into a full grilled cheese sounds even better though 😋

I love grilled cheese with ketchup! I was told it was a Canadian thing haha. Also I like to use up leftover mac and cheese in a grilled mac and cheese sandwich with some sriracha!

I just made ramen with frozen chicken, Alfredo, scrambled eggs, and the chicken flavoring. Yes I am in college and no I didn’t throw up but it was a struggle meal
Actually that sounds bomb. Some struggle meals are delish tho.
Instant rice is a big help in college. Instant rice and frozen veggies were my shit and still are.
Frozen broccoli microwave with some cheese is also a bomb snack.
I shopped at Aldi's which helped ALOT! My bi-weekly shopping trip at most was $40? At the cheapest $20 every two weeks.

@@clover5895 You're welcome! Budgetting is really hard. My recommendation is if you work during the summer save around $300 for one semester of groceries. If your semester is 5 months long that's $60 a month on groceries.
If you don't have a car see if anyone near you also groceries shops and has a car. You two can do a grocery day together and possible split groceries. Which makes the bill easier. I didn't have a car so I had to do that.
I'd also get snacks from the dollar tree to help any chip or sweet cravings.
Every state and city is different so I can't tell you where to go. Not everywhere has cheap groceries either. So best of luck! This is all a learning process that takes time but eventually gets easier.
Just look at it this way. If you shop every 2 weeks you are only spending 2 days a month shopping. So it really isn't that bad.
