Love my PRS SE CE 24 Satin... I remember when you demo'd and even gigged the turquoise satin one and you liked it ! Gave it good reviews ! Best $499 I think one can probably spend on a decent guitar. It's so incredibly resonant . It's got a mahogany body...85/15 PUs. Mine weighs 7.3lbs nice that here in the states Sweetwater lists the weights....really nice maple satin neck.. with a rosewood fingerboard and a lovely 10" radius...AND they even come with a really nice gig bag ! Truly grateful PRS finally made an affordable, really nice instrument for those who would otherwise never be able to afford a PRS. Perhaps sometime you'll try out the new PRS SE NF3.
Dachshunds rule!! I must commend you on your pup….we lost our boy Murphy just over a year ago and he was the best little dog I’ve ever had. They are funny, silly, and have big spirits for a small dog, but are so affectionate. Give Nemo a belly rub for me!! 🥰
You so make playing look effortless. Professional musician at a level even a baby can recognize the beautiful sounds just ringing out. I’m just in awe. I love the guitar but I know the amount of practice you have put in makes everything sound great. Thank you.
Had to replace the nut on my se 24 to help with tuning stability. I love the prs tremolo. I upgraded the tone and volume controls then eventually installed Seymour Duncan pearly gates. The base was there I just took it to the next level relatively inexpensively. Great guitars.
I really rate my 24-08 SE. I upgraded the tuners to PRS locking ones, but I don’t know if that was strictly speaking necessary. I also put covers on the pickups, purely for aesthetics. I pretty much always take it to gigs along with my Nashville tele . It cost £500 new, and the mods probably cost around another £100, so for £600 I have, what I consider to be a pro quality instrument that I can use in any situation
Beautiful guitar. Sounds awesome! Notice how you never see his daughter and the dog in the room at the same time. Possible hidden superpower! Nemo is a little monster while Fenton is getting snacks in the other room! Thanks!
Sounds great - looks I'm not too sure, I think PRS now does at least 4-5 times the business from the SE line compared to their core line, anyone has any idea how big the SE line is compared to the core stuff?
If you mean business as amount of guitars, I would gues is more than 4-5 times. And based on what Phil McKnight has explaned about the import lines of the big brands, it seems that SE is where they really make most of the money. And based on all the mkt and new models they have done the past years, it would make sense to put that much effort into to think that they are making very good bucks with it. Plus it serves as a gateway entry to the Core models as well. Cos its very hard to not wonder how those are if you only played the SE, and have the feeling you are missing something, so its a guitar that people will aspire later to get one.
I love my US CE24 semi-hollow. Didnt think I could like anything more... then I gor a 2017 Custom 24. That edges it out just a bit. Anyway I played the SECE24 a bit ago and it really captured the basic vibe and uniqueness of the US CE24. 100% agree with lowering the pickups a bit. Anyway excellent guitar, very versatile, and the SE is at a great price. The US model may of gone a bit insane as of late price wise, but still a great guitar, just maybe a great guitar to buy lightly used these days instead of new.
The used market for American CE 24s is really good, you're looking at 50% off or more from the pre-tax new price. Saying this as the poor bastard that sold his! 😆
@@fr3ak1shh yeah if something happened to mine I'd buy used to replace. Reverb is the only way I could afford even my base model Core Custom 24. I got lucky and got it in near mint condition and its a dream to play! That sucks taking such a huge loss when you sold yours! I know things in life can change, but I try my best to only buy things new if I'm intent on it being a lifetime purchase. Well atleast when it comes to hobby type stuff.
@@shawnmcginnis2508 Haha no worries, I bought it when it was $2k, not the hiked up $2629 that it is now. It just had a lot of problems, honestly. Got unlucky. And realized PRS isn't my style! I've spent more money on dumber decisions 😃
@@fr3ak1shh yeah, thats about were mine was, maybe a bit more being a semi-hollow. Mine has been great, with one exception. Finish flaking. I did send into PRS on warranty and theu made it right with no hassle. It was the 2021.. (and all the insanity that was) so it took a bit. While it was there I asked them to mod it to the 24-08 style switching (the two miniswitches) and they offered a huge discount on the service in light of it being there and taking a bit to get turned around. So I can say they do at least stand behind their products. Frustraiting it was a problem at all, but imho they made it right.
I had my heart set on the DGT or 594 from the SE series but after trying them in 3 different stores, I could not get past the bad setup of all of them. Bridge and tuning was fine but the nut slots and action was soo high they were almost unplayable. TH-camrs may get some sent out that are in great playbility but I played around 15 and all were the same so this put me right off them. This to me just hides bad fretwork. I played around 10 Revstars from the standard and professional series and all were amazing even straight from indonesia. I ended up buying an indo revstar with no regrets, plus I don't have to try and find the toggle switch on a PRS somewhere on the body in a different position with every model which is just silly.
Thank you for showcasing this guitar. I was looking at buying a "real" guitar and looking for something that is good out of the box. Will probably check this out.
I can translate dog whine: Nemo says, "I really need to go outside. If you don't let me out, I'm just going to have to let loose right here and you'll have to clean it up."
I had a PRS and it was the most clinically perfect guitar I’ve ever owned. Everything was perfect about it, except it sounded blank and completely devoid of character. Ended up selling it.
I am seriously looking for another good quality electric guitar and PRS certainly are a candidate but not the sandblasted models, or painted black necks that some PRS guitars have. Sorry, they look horrid to me.I am a traditionalist and love to see the wood grain all over the guitars I have, and I like a satin neck feel. That guitar sounds fabulous!
Why would you remove a comment of me pointing out this is the exact guitar Jay used in his review? The top is like a fingerprint, so there was no denying it 🤔
Interested in your reaction to the coil split, as an expert & proficient Strat aficionado. It’s a feature of other PRS’s too, including y S2 594, and it’s the one feature I don’t find especially convincing.
He talks about it a lot in his DGT videos. If I recall correctly, he almost always uses the coils split in fact. Personally, the neck HB split on my core 594 PRS has a better start sound than my Strat position five does which probably just means I need a better strat!
I own a US semihollow CE24, a silver sky, and a wood library hollow body 2 piezo, among many other non PRS. I only use the silver sky and the hollow body. The CE24 is a super versatile guitar but… I have two guitars that complement each other perfectly and I just keep teaching for them instead of the guitar that does what they individually do but less well.
It's a shame that paul reed smith himself is a such a dick imo , because his guitars seem ok ( not that i would ever buy one , i am more a fender/gibson/martin brainwashed person sadly : )
I would also like to see you demo the new PRS NF3.
I'd second or third that !
That Harley Benton box has been sitting there ''by coincidence'' for quite a while...

I, too, love my CE24. Perfect combination of S-Style comfort, and LP-style sounds with the humbucking pups.

Give Nemo a belly rub for me too please! (PS I'm sorry to hear about your Murphy. Blessed be.)

My se Custom 24 is a mainstay of my live guitar rig. Plays great, sounds amazing clean in dirty, and I don’t need to worry if it gets nicked!
Beautiful guitar. Sounds awesome! Notice how you never see his daughter and the dog in the room at the same time. Possible hidden superpower!
Nemo is a little monster while Fenton is getting snacks in the other room! Thanks!
Love the recent SEs. Over the past 5 plus years the quality has really increased and now i cant help but see the SEs as just a part of the PRS lineup
Sounds incredible to me
Man, I'm loving the "We need to talk about" series.

Ive got this same guitar in red and i think its the best se that ive ever owned. Mine comes in at 6 pounds 10 ounces.
I’ve never played a PRS I’ve liked but that sure is an interesting finish idea.

I have an American CE24 (semi-hollow) - the most versatile guitar I could ever imagine.
actually a few companies did that sandblast look before

I love doggo button here :)
Why did you play sum more with the trem, is it bad? 🤔
I had a PRS and it was the most clinically perfect guitar I’ve ever owned. Everything was perfect about it, except it sounded blank and completely devoid of character. Ended up selling it.
Looks and sounds like a sick guitar. If it plays like a sick guitar, keep it and use it.
killer guitar!
I prefer the maple neck to mahogany though
Big difference betwee. n the 85-15 & se pu's to my ears.
I thought I was hearing some earlier Satriani :P

Just spent 5 minutes watching my dog with the video paused cos your dog sounds exactly like mine when he's in pain 😂
Dach's Cryin for their Daddy.

For goodness sakes John! Pet the poor dog!
Putt it in a case, wait 25 years and its ten times worth i think! 🤔
Markiplier?!
beautiful design, too bad they don't sound as they look.
Maybe to your ears….

The guitar looks interesting but that finish is hideous.
I love CEs, but that one is ugly as hell!

PRS are unbelievably good and the haters just don’t like they are so good.
lol, except also no. They are soulless pieces of crap that all sound the same!
Sounds great - Looks ugly.

can't stand the CE line. Feels cheap, sounds cheap. Just my meaningless opinion.
Mine as well
You mean CE24, right? Not SEs in general?
