Video made me want to play santasatnas, so I did. I must say, I would have payed a dollar or two for this game on steam and still would have enjoyed it. Its kind of small but very replayable. The art is great and the game flows beautifully. Thank you for creating this fun experience for me!
Ive been going to school for Computer Science with a concentration in programming. I had always wanted to make games and programming seemed like the way to go for me. Point is, watching these videos are really inspiring me to go download even a simple game making tool and get at it whilst studying just the broad category of C.S but use the programming knowledge I pick up to improve how I could make games and I think thats the aspect I'd enjoy most when on a team. Enjoying this old series on your game dev journey. I would like to point out that maybe adding more powerful melee weapons balanced your game. But usually ranges weapons are more difficult to aim thus requiring more dex or focus on aim than melee weapons. You could have equally made melee weapons harder to pull off if the enemies strength or dex is good. And make ranged weapons more deadly but require in-game training as mechanic so that as you become better you miss less often. You could become too weak to use a sword effectively and more likely for your sword to break than the bow for example, to balance it out. But when it hits it does better than the basic melee depending on the weapon of course. This way both have their disavantages and and advantages and then it's up to the player to strategize which is better for them. This also creates opportunity for more fluctuation when leveling up. I know this might not apply to an older game where these type of things were difficult to implement but I figured I would comment for anyone watching in the future.

I'm specifically interested in EVERY game!! Even- nay-- ESPECIALLY: the ones I fear!!! (I'm looking at shameful flash games from the early 2000s that everyone played for some reason even though they were terrible and rumored to have viruses ...😑... someone remembers you) Flash game from Miniclip were good though. Miniclip is like the holy grail of flashgame sites. It's beautiful place, and it always has been... ...ah.... fond memories... Nitrome in particular, but there were some other games produced by "3rd party" developers (I liked that old hoverboarding one, and that one where you roll on top of a ball like Mario in Supermario Galaxy; even though this game I cannot remember, to which I am refering: came out years before that)
Two things: 1: Overtime damage: It should deal plenty more than the normal attack (normal = 150, then total overtime attack should be 210 or so). This is to add more incentive, as during those 3 turns to deal the full damage, the enemy can still attack you. 2: Armor as the game goes on: This one is from Path of Exile. There, the armor goes with the level to decide how much phys dmg is reduced. For example, at level 10, 120 armor would be plenty while at level 30 it would be MISERABLE. I think this could easily be done by multiplying the level by a fixed value, then substracting all of that to the armor. The result would determine how much do you block. I like your idea of max dmg to protect, though. Sounds really good :o.
2kliksphilip Yeah, but why use overtime damage and risk it just for 10 dmg? You might aswell just use the random dmg one, as it can roll higher numbers.

I don't like the idea of armor defending a percentage of damage I think it should rather be a number. During the fight your armor will take damage reducing the amount of damage it will absorb, and after the fight your armors health will be regenerated for the next fight. With a system that does not use percentages you will find yourself working in each zone to get the next armor to help you complete the final battle.
your armour effect display should be the colour of the armour instead of green; green looks like healing. Unless all the armour really is red in which case use silver or something.
