Its mind-boggling that rockstar created an iconic car to the point where they made a irl version of the same car, the banshee is definitely a must own car
My buddy’s dad has a 94’ Dodge Viper SRT10 with a Targa Top. You could say it’s technically a Banshee Classic. Such a great car.

Fun fact: in GTA IV's Beta, the Banshee was originally meant to have two stripes instead of one for its paint job.

Still can be seen in the TV show "I'm Rich" in GTA 4, among other beta version of vehicles like the Turismo, the Squalo, the Jetmax, an unknown SUV, etc etc.

@@LoweDistortionGlad they added it finally! I forget when they added that livery, maybe 2022? Before that livery you couldn’t have a proper stripe and metallic paint without the pearl showing through the stripe. That’s one of the things I don’t like about this game. I wish there were separate pearls for each of the paint layers.

yeah i was gonna say that as well id also say the moonbeam is also iconic (atleast for me) because unlike alot of other cars from the 3d games it managed to retain most of its orignal appearence when it was moved to the Hd games I also think the manana is also pretty reconizable in the 3d games however in gta 5 they completely changed it for some reason

The Banshee is so iconic to GTA, it even goes all the way back to GTA 1.
Of course, in THAT game, it was known as the "The Beast" but it still had that unmistakable signature Dodge Viper look/style complete with the racing stripe running the length of the car's body.
Ah yes, the Beast GTS. First fast car I ever drove in a GTA game... ... and I totally wrecked it 😅
One of my favorite tricks to do in GTA 1 is, right when the game starts, you immediately press the button to enter the light blue Bulldog parked right in front of you.
As your character slides across the car to get on the driver side, you press a movement key to stop yourself from entering the car so that you're standing in the street. This positions you right in the path of a passing Beast GTS that you can then steal and use to drive around right at the beginning of the game.
It works every time.
It makes sense that the grandma won the real banshee as u see many old age NPCs driving high end cars in gta games so it does make sense

True, and it didn't change much over the years
But is that the car you know more? When you are on the streets looking for a car, is that the one you remember? Hell, I'm not even sure it's even traffic in online. And it sure as hell wasn't the car with a real life recreation.
It's iconic to that channel but not really the actual game. It's the most recurring car for sure, but the performance and the looks has always been so mediocre.
Calling the Stallion iconic is like calling Toyota Prius an automotive icon imo. I mean it might be, but not for the reason you think it is.

I mean, Look at the Toyota AE86, It's just a basic, cheap, slow, groceries getter.
But due to it having very typical handling, is light in weight, and has a fun engine. It became an icon to many.

Funnily enough, the title for the most recurring car in the series would goes to the Stallion, appearing since GTA 1.
EDIT: Forgot to highlight this. Most recurring and most iconic are not the same. The Oppressor Mk II has only appeared in one game yet it is still one of the most recognizable vehicle in the franchise, even beyond the Stallion and the Banshee.

There isn't really a singular iconic car in the GTA series but really multiple iconic cars. For me, the three most iconic cars are the Kuruma from GTA 3 (because it was the first car that players drive and it was basically the first taste of the freedom that GTA 3 provided that no other game prior to it did), the Cheetah from Vice City (because it was just perfect for a game inspired by Miami Vice) and the Greenwood from GTA San Andreas (because it was Sweet's car).

Minor correction, The Banshee's first appearance can be technically traced back to the original Grand Theft Auto. Both the Viper GTS & Viper RT10 appeared in the OG GTA under the names Beast GTS & Mamba respectively.
Yeah I opened the video and instantly thought back to the pair in the original GTA. Grand Theft Auto on the Game Boy was one of my first games.

Being a huge viper enthusiast and gta fan it makes me wonder why R* hasn’t done anything with a new banshee. We’ve had the same model for years, and never have seen another generation of a viper in gta which still makes no sense to me as again, this is GTA’s most iconic car.
Here’s to hoping we finally see a 5th Gen Viper hell even maybe a RT/10 Gen 1.
Maybe they don’t since Vipers are discontinued

Was hoping for a retro model myself makes no sense they gave other cars retro upgrades but the Banshee which LITERALLY has to be its most iconic form.
Great video! Such an iconic amazing car. And as seen in the GTA 6 trailer, this bad boy is ready for a comeback. Judging by the modifications seen on some of the cars in the trailer, hopefully even the wide body kit will return too. Long live the epic GTA BANSHEE.

I seen the real Banshee in real life at a car museum in Branson, Missouri. Unfortunately its no longer there. Atleast i still have pictures. Such an amazing car and was definitely a GTA car.
the Banshee is iconic but I wouldn't say it's the most iconic. i'd say the Stallion is way more deserving of the title of 'most iconic GTA car'

The banshee is my favorite vehicle in the game. I loved this car since it first came out in GTA 3 because I used to drool over the viper IRL. It's helped make me a dodge fan and have since bought a ram and a challenger. I have six banshees with various configurations in GTA online. Excellent video man!
I was just wondering about that real life Banshee the other day, hadn't heard much since I learned it was gifted to the lady who doesn't even play video games lol. I thought I'd heard somewhere that she sold it to someone who stripped all the Banshee parts off and reverted it to a regular Viper... but that was just a rumor, obviously. So glad that wasn't true!!! Would love to see it in person, definitely the most iconic GTA car there is.
I could see some hardcore gamers buying the Banshee for 250-300 grand. Granted, it's mostly a Dodge Viper with an appearance change and some other modifications, but that wouldn't stop collectors.

I guess the Banshee's backstory is more interesting for a video but to not even mention the Stallion when talking about GTA's most iconic vehicles should be a crime.

Very cool video, I remember stealing the Banshee in gta 3 and joyriding, and stealing it for someone in gta 4. Fun fact: the Banshee name was real, it was a Pontiac concept car in the late 60's that John DeLorean comissioned.

Fun Fact: the Banshee gets its name from Irish mythology, The banshee is a short & old woman who cries and shrieks to inform of a death. Her continued weeping causes her eyes to turn red and appear ghostly she is also considered to be a professional mourner.
Funny thing is that the last gen Viper looks almost like a Banshee, So Rockstar based the Banshee on the Viper. And Dodge/SRT based the new Viper on the Banshee lmao
Rockstar could easily start opening businesses of every kind (car dealerships with GTA brands, BurgerShot, Cluckin'bell or clothing stores with GTA brands) but they stick with games only... i'll never understand them

Those are completely different industries in how they work so i really doubt that.
I would say another contender for the most iconic cars in GTA is the Stinger which has been in nearly every game since the first GTA (with no name change unlike Banshee or others)
In The Getaway there are real world vehicle manufacturers like Saab, Honda and Lexus.

It's a crime how you were speaking of cars iconic to GTA and forget that the stallion exists. The stallion has been the same in ever GTA and is likely the most iconic GTA vehicle

The rear of this Banshee in GTA 4 reminds me so much of newer Dodge Viper from 2013 (3rd gen) and the same goes for Oracle from GTA 5. That car looks so similar to a newer BMW 7 series (6th gen from 2015). I get that they are based on those cars, but what I'm saying is, without trying, Rockstar designed their cars from the near future

The Banshee is undoubtedly the iconic car of GTA. The shape & name are a perfect example of how cars from the real world were transposed into the GTA world by R* back in the good old days. It was so sad that in GTA5/Online it was so slow and handled poorly - feeling much too stiff and uninteresting. I'm sure most of us headed straight to the car dealership every time we loaded GTA3 (until unlocking the next island at least). And it was one of the best cars in GTA1 (even if the name was different).
I hope it regains its status in GTA6. But I'm not optimistic. R* has switched to making more direct copies of real world cars with long & horrible names. There was something short & sweet about the Banshee, Turismo, Sentinel and so on.

Funny enough, there was a car called the Banshee that never made it to production back in 1965. It was the Pontiac banshee, which was based off of the 1965 Corvette.

1:35 a minor correction - you could steal banshees (along with other fancy cars) by starting car salesman job, though only after gaining access to Staunton. Otherwise your screen fades to black and a car despawns lol
You could take it to a shallow shore and slightly dip it into the water until the waves briefly submerge the car, the mission would fail because you "destroyed the car" but the screen wouldn't fade black and you'd be able to reverse the car off the sea once the wheels contacted the ground again.
The road that drives to the Ferry Station is a good place to do this. Interestingly enough these cars are also Bullet-Proof, Explosion-Proof and Fire-Proof.

I've always loved the Viper, and by extension the Banshee was always a personal favorite of mine to drive in the GTA games. Unfortunately I think the current Banshee we have in GTA V looks a bit dated compared to some of their more recent models. I hope we get a refresh in VI without deviating too much from the classic Banshee look.
The only banshee in the world appearing in Copart is one of the most depressing thoughts ever, if your a car trader you know exactly why 😂

I'm honestly not very sharp with cars from the newer GTA games, since I never had a console or a good enough PC to properly play them, but oh boi did I play the 3D era games A LOT since 2002, including the Stories games (GTA San Andreas is the only game I finish yearly, been doing it since 2009 and this year I'm doing it on mobile for the first time)
So, considering that, I'd say the most iconic cars are the Banshee, the Infernus, the Cheetah (especially for Vice City), the Sabre and the Stallion
I don't know if any modern cars from GTA V or GTA Online became as iconic as the ones I mentioned

Honestly, I hope that they release a new version of the Banshee for GTA VI. I doubt it, but it would be cool to see them do an interpretation of a newer Viper. Ideally, though, we would get all 3 versions of the banshee.

I would stand outside of los santos customs and wait for someone to pull out with a zentorno or t20. Then i would say 'i can beat that crap'. Basically luring then to a drag race at the airport.
I would drive a fast car, but when i got to the airport, i would call for my banshee, not many ppl knew about dbl clutch back then so it was so fun hearing my opponents reaction.
Usually got called a mod, but then i would show them how to dbl.
Fun fact theirs only one car that can beat the banshee in a drag race,but its really difficult to dbl

I'd argue to say that the stallion is the most iconic car, being featured in every single gta game since gta one without any major redesigns.
You know somenting is iconic when they make a real life replica of it, west custons did a amazing job, and now the car is imortalised agaim CUZ IT FREAKING APEARED IN BETTER CALL SAUL, THATS THE LUCKIEST THING THAT CAN HAPPEN TO A CAR.
Also this makes the banshee canon in the breaking bad/better call saul universe.
EDIT: hope rockstar makes more replicas of other cool cars, 1 car per game could work out.
