    ... The rest is history.

My dad loved Elvis. He passed it to me. It taught me that no matter our skin color we are all one species. We all bleed the same. And I love y'all. Black, white, yellow, brown or blue. We BLEED red!

Elvis had such a deep respect for MLK. That is where this song came from deep in his heart and soul. He was truly crushed when he heard MLK had been assassinated. I learned from people like Elvis and MLK because growing up as a mostly white child in the early 60's there was way too much racial tension and pain. I drew much flack over my being friends with the black kids who when first were bussed to or high school and all the stress these poor kids were put through being the first ones in white schools. I actually got beat up because of it. I am so happy now that things are changing for the better.

Thankfully, growing up on Elvis, I learned what kind of person to be. I wanted to just be a good person. Kind to all. He taught me that. I’ve studied this man for as long as I can honestly remember. I don’t have a time I don’t remember him being a part of my everyday life. I was born in ‘75, so, I mean that. To this day, I can’t watch his last performance without bawling my eyes out. So, I try not to. I’ve seen Elvis 5 times, so far, and bawl every time for two hours AFTER it’s over. We lost a truly wonderful person and only wish that what we know now about prescription meds now existed then. Maybe we’d still have him. Want to feel his presence? Go to Graceland and I promise you will! It’s one of the most moving feelings I’ve ever experienced. I felt like I was wrapped in a hug by him. It was so strange, but so beautiful. I’m a very emotional person, though. So, y’all may think I’m crazy. But, I was not expecting it, at all. It was just so all encompassing, I’ll swear to it. One of the best days of my life. For sure. Rest in heaven, Elvis. You may be gone, but you’re never forgotten. Ever.

This song shall at all time be the #1 statement to the world, in my opinion, there should be a little book with the lyrics of the song, for everybody to carry, and when trouble shows up, open the book and remind you self that You are a part of the solution.
I my self are using this line in my life "Respect and accept each other, then no once have to drag a knife", and I'm nearly 60 years old.

Extremely a very inspirational sound, with Words of extreme emotions of perseverance. This is the Most difficult Song to Master, and anyone trying to sing that song, will end up with a cracked Vocal Chord. That's why the only guy to have the guts to sing this Song is Elvis. Tying to sing a song like that is a nightmare, I tried and had to stop singing, because Everyone started laughing when the emotion of this song's words got too deep with higher notes. My Voice Cracked. It is an impossible Song to finish because of the emotional words. Outstanding Video and analysis, and great for giving Elvis the Recognition deserved for his Effort to popularize the Emotional Words.

BJ Asia the reason Elvis sounded horse he was so scared to do the 68 Comeback Special and he thought the audience was going to reject them he rehearsed rehearsed and rehearsed till his throat was raw and when I did see the TV special n68 I noticed that about Elvis's voice I wound up traveling all over the world doing a tribute to Elvis after my four brothers bugged me for 3 years after Elvis passed away I didn't want to do it cuz I felt everybody impersonating was exploiting Elvis's memory but my brothers who I love very much I relented wound up traveling all over the world and I was so blown away how powerful the love for Elvis and his music was and that three piece suit did Elvis was wearing was on tour in Japan withdrawns of other memorabilia and the guy said would you like to try it on and I did and it fit me like a glove and it was my first few days there and the guy said for $2,000 you can have this suit and I said No this must have been a fake but I remember the detail in the way the lapels fell and the cut of the suit in the cloth and when I see it on film I know it was the soup I hadn't been paid yet in by the time I got paid the tour company was gone but I could have owned that suit thank you for letting share some of these experiences I had with you it was a phenomenal ride doing this tribute to Elvis all over the world just Amazing and Awesome!

I remember when Elvis played a concert in Canada, and there was a giant banner that said " Toronto welcomes the King".
A reporter asked Elvis about being called the king of rock-n-roll, or just the king. Elvis replied that he didn't know how that started, but Jesus is the real king.

Celine Dion did this song as a duo with a hologram of Elvis besides her, its really good but if you watch them both you can feel every word Elvis sings, Celine just stands there like a robot with a perfect voice but Elvis puts his whole soul and heart into it and boy can you feel it, the difference is shocking. He out sings her and out performs her in every single way.
    Thats why Elvis is King....!

You have not even heard this song until you see the actual live version in the white suit, that aired on the Comeback Special in 1968. You must SEE Elvis perform this song to SEE how he felt. This song was written especially for him. I remember sitting spellbound, watching it. I was 14. :-) You also should watch Elvis and the Black Community, to see the man he truly was. There will never be another. Nothing could compare to his talent, and he was a kind, generous soul. A true legend! I'd give anything to sit in that coliseum and watch him live, just one more time. RIP Elvis. We will miss you always.

Elvis has inspired many singers & musicians. He loved his family very much, he showed it many ways. He bought his parents a new home, called, Graceland. Elvis was so loving, good hearted, loved to give gifts to family & friends. My daughters & I just recently went on a tour thru the beautiful Graceland. It was wonderful to feel his presence & walking in his home, where he had lived with family, friends & where he rehearsed. You could imagine & feel him there. There was always music. We stayed at the awesome & beautiful “The Guest house”. We toured his personal plane, named after his daughter, Lisa Marie. We walked the streets he did. It was a great experience. Our daughters were born in the 60’s, loved Elvis & sang & danced to Elvis’s songs. They have passed that same love to their children & grandchildren. Elvis Presley is a legend & will always be the “King of Rock & Roll”. Elvis changed the World of music in his unique way, that we & all the World fell in love with.”

Earl Brown was asked to write a song to replace White Christmas for Elvis' 68 comeback special which aired in Dec. of 68. Martin L. King had been assassinated in April and Robert Kennedy in June of that year. Elvis had been devastated by the loss of both of these great men. Earl Brown later said he wrote the song as a tribute to them. It has a very powerful message. For me, this song and the passion in which Elvis sang it was the original "Be the change you want to see." ☮❤✝ Y'all should really react to The King Is Gone by Ronnie McDowell. He sounds like Elvis but you can also hear his love and the pain of his loss. Elvis was his hero in a way. Both of these songs make me cry every time I hear them.

Ronnie McDowell actually got his career from Elvis' death. When he died they did a huge contest for the best tribute song for Elvis, the winner won a recording contract and become the official voice for Elvis in movies or shows. He did all of them until This is Elvis, when they finally used the real thing. Ronnie wasn't just an impersonator though, he had true talent and was able to build a very successful career separate from his work singing as Elvis. Sadly he's also gone now 🥲

    I love Elvis.
He grew up dirt poor . Grew up singing Gospel I'd encourage you to research his background.
He did sing this as a tribute to MLK after he passed.
Also, Cissy Houston, Whitney's mom, was one of his background singers.

Forget Hounddog, Blue Suede Shoes even Love Me Tender. True Elvis fans know his roots in gospel, blues and R&B. During a time of racial unrest he was the most anti racist of all entertainers. A God fearing yet fallible man, he never forgot his poor, humble upbringing and was genuinely respectful to all people, For that reason alone he will always be loved by all. This song closed out his 1968 Singer comeback special and I cant recommend highly enough watching the entire show. Just stunning and more than one glimpse into Elvis's thoughts and personality.

For the 1968 tv special, this was recorded live in an empty studio as nbc's retaliation to him standing his ground to do this tribute to dr. king & bobby kennedy..once the cameras went black he literally collapsed to the floor in tears as all the emotions he poured out through the song finally hit him..
Elvis grew up in the church & specifically in a black church that was near his home which welcomed hiim & his mother..
gospel music was his absolute favorite & he had the largest collection of gospel music in america at one time...
the network was opposed to his doing this song but he had so much respect & admiration for dr. king & took inspiration from him he stood his ground & basically said no song.. no special..
the infulence of his church upbringing is so up front in this performance his wearing the white suit.. & he literally did take us to church with this
Thank you for sharing such an honest & heart touching reaction with us
check out his performance of how great thou art the best video version is of him in a blue jumpsuit from 1972

This was after MLK was assassinated in April of 68. Then RFK in June of 68. It was so hard on Elvis. Hence this song. It makes me cry. I love it.
