Heya mate thanks for the informative video, i have this system in my 2 bedroom apartment and theres only 2 zones set which are: zone 1 living area and zone 2 bedrooms. Both bedrooms are set to zone 2, is there anyway to split the bedrooms into 2 separate zones? My bedroom faces the sun all day so I need the air con more than my housemate. Its really frustrating me i really need to split the bedrooms, is it possible? Cheers mate
@@davidodonovan2142 yes its possible, but you would need to take out the single zone damper in the branch of duct that runs to the two rooms and install 2 smaller zone dampers in each duct to each outlet. Depending on the zone controller type, it will either be 240v zone motors or 24 volt zone motors. The 24v zone dampers use a telephone like cable and any can do it if its 240v you will need to get someone qualified . If you only have two zones at the moment there should be room for 2 more zones as the zone controller has 4 zone ports standard and 8 zone ports if that option is chosen. The zone box is located up in the roof.

If there is a wall sensor you need to make that input active, an easy check is to push select sensor button. Each push will bring up a different sensor. The sensors can be turned on and off in setup. When you push this button you should get indoor (inside the indoor units return air ) master RC ( sensor in the controller). Other sensors that can be turned on and off in setup are, sensor 1 (remote sensor) sensor 2 (2nd remote sensor) slave sensor (sensor in 2nd slave controller). The sensors can also be re named. Once you have picked which sensor you wast active push “fix sensor” button and it will become the active sensor for the system.
Thanks for the video! I am currently facing 2 problrms. 1. When i was trying to only turn on one zone, the common area zone will always automatic turn on. Eg, only want bedroom zone on, but it will turn on common area + bedroom. 2. I don't have a sensor in the bedroom only in the common area, so the temperature seems to get very low and AC doesn't know to turn itself off. Any way to fix that? Appreciate your help!
Fit a remote sensor and you can have the control point at the bedroom zone. Common area is not a zone, it doesn’t have a zone motor to turn the air flow on and off. The common is all ways on when the air conditioner is on, you would need to add a zone to turn off the common area. This may not be as easy as just adding a zone, there could be duct work changes that are needed at make it all work correctly.
Can each individual room be temperature set differently? Just moved into a 6-7 year old house with this unit and we're struggling a bit with it. We're going to want 21-22 deg in a month or two whereas the kids won't need it as cold. It also doesn't seem to flow ANY air at all currently unless its set at 20 deg or under. A bit of research to be done clearly. Thanks
@@jasonmcroberts7994 no it doesn’t control temp in different zones, it’s just on off zoning. Additional sensors can be fitted but that just changes the temp sensing location.
01 keeps one zone on all the time, one green zone light will always be lit or one zone all ways on, the last zone can’t be turned off unless you turn in a 2nd zone and you turn off the 1st zone off. All zones off 02 will let you turn off all zones , so no green zone lights are lit, this is how it’s usually set up when you have a common area.
It doesn’t really matter, the total of all the zone outlets is equal to 100% or full speed. It would work even if you based it on percentage out of 100. I go through the set up this way in the video because this is how it says to do it in the instruction manual and I don’t want to confuse people.
@@FullyAirconditionedHey Craig will this setup work on both heating and cooling? Now we're in the hotter months it seems the heating works a lot better than the cooling. Cheers
@@FilthyGinger4130 should really make a difference, double check where you measure the temperature from(select sensor) best set to master rc and clean your filter.
You have a on off timer but it would need to be set each time, the standard controller has this function and a few more, it can be set up so its just a puts button for 1 hours use then turns off, you can adjust the min and max set point that can be set, it also has a auto temperature reset, if some one turns down the temperature once it reaches that temp it auto resets back to a predetermined temp. You could swap this controller out and put a standard controller but you would have to put a separate 3rd party zone controller to control the zones. Although the Daikin zone controller is an up grade from the standard (has zoning) it’s a down grade in function ability from the standard BRC1E63 controller.
Unfortunately not, the Daikin zone controller just doesn’t have that function, it’s very disappointing considering it’s an upgrade from the standard and the standard has this function. This controller need a refresh it’s been out a very long time. The timer needs looking at as well as it’s quite limited as well.
How do you cancel a set program on this control? We currently accidentally have it set for the fan to come on at midnight on a saturday. So inconvienent
That happen to more people than you think, press the 7 day timer button once, the no 1 should be flashing push and hold the clear button for 4 seconds (or longer) all timers should now be canceled, push the test exit button exit to main screen
Yep, you have a timer set. When you push the timer button a few times you actually set a timer. By default this timer is set at 1.00am fan only on the day you set it. The controller will have prog on the screen keying you know you have a timer set. Go into the timer, bring up the timer you want deleted and push and hold the cancel button for 5 seconds, this will cancel the timer. On the newer model controller it doesn’t have cancel on the button. It has a return arrow, but it’s the same thing. Right row of buttons next to the display, bottom button is the cancel button.
How do you set a zone that dictates one particular room to get the air con. I have 3 bedrooms, but only want one bedroom to receive the air con. Any ideas?
If each bedroom is individually zoned (3 zones one to Rach bedroom) you can turn off the other two bedroom and just cool / heat the one bedroom, unless you have additional sensors connected to the controller it won’t actually measure the temp in the bedroom that’s on. If you want individual temp control to each room with different temps set points, this isn’t able to do that. You would need a zoning system that can connect to the Daikin’s unit, like Myair zoning system, this has sensors in each room and you can set different temps across all rooms.
Hi Graig. Thanks your your messages. My control wall panel works but for odd reasons, this flash around on the control monitor even when it’s not turned on. Any suggestions ? Regards Trevor
The mode for the controller is 1b, it has zone box and pc board up at the indoor unit not just the controller. It is model of indoor dose not matter and the aces codes for the standard controller are different and please remember this is for Australian ducted units.
Hey Craig. I have really struggled with our office unit not controlling temperature well and suspect some of the settings are not right despite having called out a technician. Your tutorial is good but it has raised a little confusion. When I compare the BRC230Z4B Installation manual pg 11 codes with what you say, they seem to be opposite. For example you say in Mode 1b, switch 0 is remote sensor 1 default set to 02, not active. The manual has default table and says 1b-0 is set to 01 which is Sensor 1 OFF, implying 02 would have sensor 1 as ON. This is opposite to what you say in the video. It also applies to switch 5 for the master RC which you say should be set to 01 to be active, and the manual says 01 is OFF. Did you make a mistake or am I reading page 11 table incorrectly. I have set switch 5 to 01 and switch 6 to 02 which per your video would allow the Master RC to be active as well as a Sub RC. I will experiment with this to see if its better but as it seemed like you were reading from a manual I wanted to hear what you thought. Many thanks. Antony
Hi Antony, Thanks for taking time out to comment, from time to time I am wrong and I am the 1st to admit it. But there are two controllers ,this is the newer one (BRC24Z4B9) and when this newer controler came out we found that Daikin had decided to change a few things with how it came out of the box. This one's default settings on page 11 says sensor one is set to 02 (sensor on) the previous model default setting was set to 01 (sensor off). I just double checked a new install manual and the older install manual. So your installation manual is correct for your controller as I believe it's the older controller. If you have a closer look you will see that your controllers look slightly different from the one in the video, but they have the same functions, just a face lift and change of default settings. Actually I don't think the older controller has the Daikin's "airside Control" option where it will automatically lower fan speed as zones are turned off. kind regards craig
Thanks for this. My zone 1 has a green light when the air is off, and no light when the air is on (instead of green for and no light for off like the other zones). I was wondering if you know of a way to fix this?
Yes I do, with modem zones they drive open and drive closed, if it’s a 240 volt zone then it’s possible wired wrong the open wire is wired to the closed terminal and the closed wire is wired to the closed terminal. This wiring should only be fixed by a qualified person as you could be dealing with deadly voltages. Some zone motors have a switch on them that can reverse by simply opening the switch to switch the drive motors direction. It’s really the fault of the installer incorrectly wiring it.
Hey there, amazing video! Could you please also show how to turn off timer? I've the same systems it keeps turning on automatically. I think it has todo something with 7 day timer.
Hi, you cant just turn off the timer with this controller, you have to delete the program. This is a pain if your just going away for a week or so as you will need to redo the timer program again when you get back. To clear the timer push the “7 day time clock” button, then push and hold the “clear” button for at least 4 sec, then push the “shift’ button once, then push and hold the “clear’ button again for 3 sec. This will clear all timers
Hi, on the older model it had a clear button with clear on it, on the new controller it’s the same button but it now has the return symbol (an arrow with pages behind it) right hand side bottom button.
This video has been so incredibly helpful. Our system limping along with U2 fault (replaced capacitor they now want to replace ICB) but I’ve now been able to set the thermostat to the main controller and have the fan turn off when it reaches temp. Is there any way to: 1. Set the min temp in heating to less than 16C? 2. Display current temp on main controller? Cheers and thanks again.
Lowest setting with this controller is 16 on heating and there is no option to show current temp. This controller is getting a bit old now, was better than the old standard controller when it came out, but now that has been up dated the zone controller is now lags behind.
Great video mate I just got my controller in with the air con and when i go to Sel Sensor it doesnt say Master RC it has indoor sens and sens 1 should i change it to sens 1 which I think should be Master RC is that right. thanks mate.
Default it has sensor one and indoor sensor. If the company installing put a remote wall mounted sensor in(about the size of a match box) it will work, but if not installed it will go into fault. Adjust the settings to turn off sensor one off and activate master rc sensor. It’s in the install manual and I think I do the settings in this video.
Try turning off the power to the system for 5 min, then reset power, hopefully it will reboot and start working. If that does’t work you may need a new controller, a new controller indoor box in at the indoor unit and controller
Hello and Thankyou I have now been able to correct my zones which is brilliant! Wondering if you have any info on how to reset the wifi controller as my network has changed and i can nolonger connect to it. Cheers :)
Wifi acts as a 2nd controller, you will need to find your wifi module / controller (possibly in the roof near the man hole or near the indoor unit). You will need the ssid No on the side of the controller and get the model No, then search for the instructions / manual.
Hi mate. I have 2 zones and 2 controllers . Master downstairs and slave upstairs. How can I assign controller temp sensor master to zone 1 and controller temp sensor slave to zone 2? Thanks !
You can’t, it doesn’t work like that, you can choose what sensor is active but you can’t assign a sensor to each zone and have it control the temp in that zone. The unit only has one compressor and the sensor that is active will dictate whether the compressor providing cooling or heating.
You can’t, this controller has been out a while now, at the time when it was released it was a upgrade from the standard controller, but the standard controller has been up dated and now the zone controller is sort of a down grade (except for the zoning and temp sensing ability). This controller lacks a room temp display and the timer difficult to set / adjust / cancel.
Hey mate just want to say great video ! Really helps us blokes to setup the controller when the installer doesn't, I was hoping you could help me on what fan speed is best for a 4 outlet ducted system 1-15 mine is default on 10 and i have noticed you have 7 outlets and you have set it on 9 fan speed Thanks mate hope you can help :)
It will depend on the system as the fan motor power is different in the different size systems. Just set a speed and see how it goes, but be careful not to set it to low and you will lose capacity.
If it may give you some better information the model number for the outdoor unit is RZQ71LV1, I hope this helps you to further understand my unit :) also if possible sorry to ask so many questions but could you also tell me from my unit how would i go about your airside control part of the tutorial that would be really amazing ! Thanks mate for getting back to me so fast ! Legend
@@redrum5795 Hi, The 71 has a different fan motor and fan scrolls, the indoor unit is much smaller, the setting really has to do with a lot of things like end duct size, if your in Sydney most duct is 250mm at the outlet and they use round cone diffusers and it’s mostly for cooling. With the larger end duct there is less resistance to air flow so the setting could be lower. In Canberra we use 200mm duct to the outlet so the velocity of the air coming out is enough to reach the floor, we also mainly use MDO square outlets, this allow us to push the air to the floor for heating. With the smaller end duct the resistance to air flow is greater so the setting may be higher. The rated air flow rate for your unit is 566L/sec, just play around with the things and see what’s good for you, if you notice a drop off in time it takes to heat up/cool down I would say your air flow fan setting is too low. Hope this helps
Some one has gone into the timer and a schedule has been set. You need to delete the schedule, I don’t have a video on how to do it but there is one on TH-cam somewhere. 👍🏻
Push and hold mode button for 5 sec on the current master controller. Go to the controller you want to be the master and push mode once. This controller is now set as master.
It’s probably easier to make the sensor active in the master controller and slave. This way you can just press the select sensor button and then select the sensor you want active.
I don’t believe so, the standard controller dose (brc1e63) and a few more features like minimum and max set temps, it even has a set back function the re sets the set point to a pre set setting. Or it has a 5 action timer, so you could set the timer up to set the same temperature 5 times a day. Your controller is a up grade because it has zoning and it can have additional sensors fitted, but a down grade is function. I would personally put the standard controller with a 3rd party zone controller and the Daikin standard controller in.
Yes and no, I guess if it was basic but didn’t actual adjust the fan accurately to the amount of outlets the open people would probably complain about that. Yes over engineered but accurate.
@@Nadz770 do you mean you can’t get 3 fan speeds from the controller, it only allows you to set two speeds when you push the fan button??. If so it’s not the controller it’s your unit, is the unit older, as the ac fan motor only allows for two speeds. I think this is also true for the VRV high static ducted units, still run as AC fan motor not the multi speed DC fan motor. A DC fan motor allows for many speeds. An AC fan motor is limited to the number of windings that can fit in the motor, unsullied a max of 4 speeds, only two selectable from the controller. There is a Low Low (this is selected during thermostat off) low, selectable from the wall controller, then there is a high and a high high. This has to be plugged in at the indoor unit, there is a jumper cable that can be moved to the high high terminal. Instructions are on the indoor electrical cover. Turn off the power below going anywhere near the indoor electrical box and should be carried out by someone quilted.
Incredible tho... literally everyone has a smartphone and they're still selling the worst possible user interface! baffles me! cheers for the video tho ;)
Couldn’t agree more, this controller is old, it’s a downgrade from the standard controller, they have brought out the air hub, but it’s just a polished turd, it’s this controller with a touch screen interface. Although it dose do temp control some what. And who can forget the sky zone, daikin we’re burnt hard after that control. Only out for 6 months or so, can’t believe someone didn’t get sacked over that one. This controller dose give basic zone control from the single controller, but doesn’t show a actual room temp, timer is a nightmare to set and you have to delete your settings if you go away on holiday and then spend an hour redoing the timer when you get back. When wifi is connected to this controller you can do all function from your smartphone as well as turning on and off zones.
If a air conditioning system has a common area, that would mean that that area is default on when the air conditioning system is on. For it to be a zone that can be opened and closed it would need a actual zone damper installed in that section of duct that supplies air to the outlets in the common area (zone). This is why it’s called a “common” and not called “up stairs zone”. A damper could be installed if it’s all the outlet that supply air to the up stairs area are on a single duct, but I don’t believe this will be the case as the duct layout hasn’t been done with the intention to install a single zone to the common area.. I am guessing that you need to redesign the duct layout and change it to suit a single zone or install multiple zones to do the up stairs area.
You cant with this controller, if your room is zoned just turn off that zone, or get a better zoning system like Myair where you can set different temps in the diffrent zones or last option get a new flatmate with similar tempreture comfort levels.

@FullyAirconditioned legend mate thanks for the detailed response 👍I am pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff so I would definitely need to hire someone to do what you said for my system, just wondering is it a big job and would you know what type of fee I'd be looking at to hire someone qualified to do what you said?
Hey mate, I have this panel but I noticed it's only going up to fan speed 3 and then resets back to one not going all the way up to 5 ?
@@emellow3583 yep you’re AC unit only has 3 fan speeds, if it had more fan speeds then all 5 would be available from the this controller.
Gday guys. We have this system, is there a way yo open up the dampers in the roof? We have no flow to 3 vents, yet have maximum flow to the office vent, which is in the same ducting? Help pse?
Just wondering how you tell the unit there is an extra wall sensor installed? Is there a setting in the unit setup that needs to be configured?
Thank you!!

Hi
Does this zone controller have child lock like BRC1E63 nave easy?
Thanks
Good question, I don’t believe so
Could you please explain the meaning of switch 4, 01, 02. I don't understand when you say 01 one zone on, or 02 all zone off.
@@FullyAirconditioned thank you so much!
Hey craig. When working out your airflow do you use the nominal amount or the max amount? Cheers.
It doesn’t really matter, the total of all the zone outlets is equal to 100% or full speed. It would work even if you based it on percentage out of 100. I go through the set up this way in the video because this is how it says to do it in the instruction manual and I don’t want to confuse people.

Can we control through our phone is there any app
@@romakc6645 you will need the Daikin wifi module and the “airbase” app, that will give you control from your phone
...or can I set it up so that the ac turns off automatically adter an hour's use?
Can we get the room temperature display on this system ?
The fan comes on every Sunday night at midnight any idea how I get this to stop? I can’t see it set up on 7 day settings
@@FullyAirconditioned thankyou il try that out
How do you set a zone that dictates one particular room to get the air con.
You might need a new controller
Thank you so much for the video. May I ask why was 1b selected as the mode and if this is specific to the unit shown or is it for all units?
The mode for the controller is 1b, it has zone box and pc board up at the indoor unit not just the controller. It is model of indoor dose not matter and the aces codes for the standard controller are different and please remember this is for Australian ducted units.
@@FullyAirconditioned thanks for that!
Antony
Hi Antony,
Thanks for taking time out to comment, from time to time I am wrong and I am the 1st to admit it. Actually I don't think the older controller has the Daikin's "airside Control" option where it will automatically lower fan speed as zones are turned off.
kind regards
craig
Hi. Sorry what does perambulator 1b mean or do?
Great Video, how to you know what mode you have selected? The one I have doesn't display the mode :(
Hey there, amazing video!
@@FullyAirconditionedwhich button is the “clear” button? Thanks
Is there any way to:
Hey mate, got a controller like this, but its frozen and won't do anything
How do you remove the filter warning on this controller?
Hold down the clear or 3 overlapping rectangle button for 5 seconds.
Hi you reset filter light by pushing and holding the clear button for 5 sec, on the newer model controller it’s the return button.

Hi I don’t believe so
Good video, how do I add room temp display on this device ?
You can’t, this controller has been out a while now, at the time when it was released it was a upgrade from the standard controller, but the standard controller has been up dated and now the zone controller is sort of a down grade (except for the zoning and temp sensing ability). This controller lacks a room temp display and the timer difficult to set / adjust / cancel.

Thanks mate hope you can help :)
Legend
@@redrum5795 Hi,
The 71 has a different fan motor and fan scrolls, the indoor unit is much smaller, the setting really has to do with a lot of things like end duct size, if your in Sydney most duct is 250mm at the outlet and they use round cone diffusers and it’s mostly for cooling.

What a ridiculous system. Should be much simpler instead of having to do mathematics to work out
Yes and no, I guess if it was basic but didn’t actual adjust the fan accurately to the amount of outlets the open people would probably complain about that.
Yes over engineered but accurate.
@@FullyAirconditioned yes I guess , will you be able to tell me how to increase fan speed over two ?
Looks like this equipment have to be avoided, way too Mach complexity.
If I have another common zone and it is upstairs how do I turn that one off
If a air conditioning system has a common area, that would mean that that area is default on when the air conditioning system is on.
How can I lock my ac so flatmates stop setting temp to 17 degrees?
You cant with this controller, if your room is zoned just turn off that zone, or get a better zoning system like Myair where you can set different temps in the diffrent zones or last option get a new flatmate with similar tempreture comfort levels.
