Hi there, and welcome to the channel! Are there any tips for a lightweight browser? Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it :)

@@RememberThisTech We used Midori in the past but project was dead. It should be active again but I am not aware of the current state. We also used epiphany-browser for Bodhi 6. I would try also SeaMonkey or PaleMoon if fullfil your needs. Stefan

Using Debhodi 7 on a 10 year old acer c720 chromebook. Replaced peppermint os as it was struggling with the lack of memory. The Debhodi installer threw up a message it needs 22gb of storage to install but installed perfectly fine.
Runs really snappy and for youtube i use freetube as frontend, again really snappy.
Only thing i am looking for is a lightweight web browser but functional. Links and Dillo are often mentioned but again, on the modern web not so. The installed chromium stays under 1gb of ram when started.
This is a small laptop i take on car camping so not critical for web browsing.
Always like Bodhi as a project. Kudos and thanks to the developer(s).

@Charlemagne1367 Hi there and welcome to the channel. Cool! Good to know that runs well on an older Chromebook. I've yet to get my hands on one but I'll for sure keep this in mine. Thanks for sharing.

I love old, tiny machines like these. Thanks for the video! I'm not going to rush out and buy a netbook, but I do hope I'll run into one. (Especially if it's free 😁)

@Zephyrus-ZX Hi there! Tyvm! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Here's to hoping you can find one for free soon! Most people took them out. If you get one, you can put linux on it or xp and play around. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it :)

I heard someone say Puppy Linux, or one of those is so small it is only stored in the RAM. I use 11" machines as music streamers. The Chromebooks with 4 gigs work okay but not all USB DACs will work with them so I load Linux on an old Windows machine and it's just a very fun dedicated music streamer. Good DAC and good headphones or plug it into an old school stereo.

TH-cams front end is heavy as lead, same with MSN
Not a bad little machine and OS 😊
You're right though you want a dual core Atom or better realistically for modern web surfing and you want to use a front end for TH-cam that isn't quite so heavy
Try out antiX Linux it may run faster - and also try out Qimo Linux as it's for kids and these netbooks would be perfect for educating youngsters! It is from like 2009 and runs fast

@therealnambro Hi there! I thought it was a decent new os for me for sure. I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for the os suggestions. I've wanted to try Antix for a whe now. Got an older dual core laptop up soon for this series I'm calling "how old is too old" I also want to try the new Dsl 2024 distro. Stay tuned ;)

If you want it as light as possible, use dwm on any light running distro, less than 100 kB (86 kB on my system with around 6 patches) of C-code and 42 kB of C-code for dmenu. Ad scrot and xclip and possibly a clipboardmanager to it for screenshots and you are done. You might want to go with a distro which doesn't use Systemd, lighter for RAM for sure.

xclip is included in Bodhi by default. Moksha also has its own native clipboard manager we coded ;)

@@bodhilinux9724I like Moksha for a floating environment. Keep up the good work! I myself prefer tiling, though some programs are poorly programmed for it, like some games and some programs which use Java, MATLAB for example needs an environment variable to forbid reparenting. Hence my advice for the people who prefer or want to try tiling, dwm is really nice because it is light, fast, it is moddable (also a downside, you need to patch it a bit) and it has the so-called tagfeature which means that you can select two or more workspaces (virtual desktops) at the same time, either to show it or to set a program on it. But for floating Moksha is great! Sadly it is not yet available in the Arch-repositories though. There is an AUR-script for Moksha though.

@@peterjansen4826 I am not a tiling WMs fan but I understand people who prefer it. Moksha actually does include a tiling module. I am not sure in what shape it is for now. Need to check. Oh, Moksha in AUR. There is very nice Artix distro with the page how to install Moksha and all modules and themes. Stefan

@@bodhilinux9724 I will probably give it a shot for the problematic games which can't handle tilinng. I am currently playing such a game: Super Crazy Rhythm Castle. Dare to change to another workspace and the game gets stuck with a black screen. Game developers. 😆

Not bad for a single core. Definitely not a daily driver but something that might come in handy in a pinch.

@@RememberThisTech We do our best to keep Bodhi as light as possible. Also working on new features and bug fixes. We focus on stability a lot. Moksha prob not easiest for Linux newbies but after some time could be a nice alternative to other WMs.
