  • How do I remove the stator cover on my Ducati? This video will show you how to remove the stator cover on a Ducati. I did it with a 1198 Superbike but the theory is the same for all of them. Do NOT ever use a screw driver or pry bar to remove the cover. Let the stator cover tool do ALL of the work for you.
    You will need Ducati Alternator Pulling Tool from EBAY. 29.00 seller is HDESA.ATELIER
    Shifter lever stuck. Bike won't shift.

    A good trick is to unbolt all the bolts on the cover then bolt the clutch slave cylinder back on. Slowly pump the clutch to remove the cover.

    Thanks ! I had to do this today on a Ducati Diavel. That tool is a life saver ! Oh and make sure to drain your oil first or it will be all over the place :)

    Thanks, very helpful. After you're done, would you put a gasket or just sealant?

    • @RideWNC
      @RideWNC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no gasket on the stator cover. A thin layer of sealant is all you need. Ducati uses a gray sealant and when you pull the cover off you will see it in the case. I just did one yesterday. I used black RVT. Let the bike sit overnight before adding oil.

    Chisel for me. Screws on stator cover are seized

    So if I'm seeing gaskets online for both this cover and the clutch cover, I really just need silicone ???

    • @RideWNC
      @RideWNC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ducati does not use gaskets on these. As long as you use the right tool for the job and do not pry anywhere on the cover, you won't need a gasket.

    Took the cover off and found like a little round piece broken

    can you comment on replacing the cover? do you need to force it to overcome the magnet or should it slide on easily?

    • @RideWNC
      @RideWNC  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't force anything! Let the stator cover tool do most of the work. You may need to tap with a rubber mallet by the sprocket counter shaft. Most important is to check and double check that all of the screws have been removed. Stator covers are very expensive. Becareful. Do not pry anywhere. Do not scratch where the cover seats against the engine.

    if you replace the small cover with 2 bolts right and left for a nicer one, do you can take that off or is oil gonna come out?(where you put the special tool) i think it is called "timing inspection cover"on a diavel

    • @RideWNC
      @RideWNC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oild should not be that full in the engine. None will come out.

    why do you have to drain the oil and not just the coolant?
