You could have drilled lines of 1/4" holes in the front of the air box. Then it is still up hi and better sealed from possible water entry. Then you can use tape to control how much added air you want / need . I have a yellow and black first year model and I did this in 1983

Did yours bog down in 2nd and 3rd after the intake addition snd exhaust mod? Mine is. Thinking I need to up main jet? Did you change jetting?
Dont change intake on pw80 it will be worde the stock one is perfect

Or if you get one 2 small cut 2 slits on the end and just make sure the hose clamp is tight thats what ive done before
I use 30mm air filter
Ok do not take your exoust off bc you want more compresion

Because that filter box blocked mud from slinging off the front tire onto the engine and new air filter
