Limiting the distractions in my life has helped me be more present in the moment. In what ways do you live mindfully?

So many people these days are living for “what’s next” instead of “now”, and missing too much. You are so calming and I love your word choice.🙏👌😎

Don’t think only younger people have this addiction. I’m 68 and spend way too much time everyday on social media. My goal is to take care of this. Thank you for this video.

I was on a train the other day commuting home from work and watched a sunset that was so glorious it was mentioned on the news that night. Sadly I was the only one on the train who saw it as every single person had their heads bowed over looking at their iPhones. I got a couple of books from the library about using our phones less and one tip I have begun to practise is to check say Facebook once per week on a Friday or Saturday morning with a cup of coffee to check in and see what your friends are up to. Also not to feel you have to like or respond to every comment. I am already finding this is a good habit for me and find l am looking forward to checking in once per week rather than feeling the expectations of constantly clicking and commenting/congratulating on birthdays etc several times each day.

It truly is amazing how addictive we have become to the technology around us. I applaud your efforts to limit and detoxify these distractions from your life. It's definitely very similar to what being drug addictive must be like. Being alone with your thoughts is a scary thing. People are so used to being on this never-ending "ride" that the thought of actually cutting the cord is terrifying. Great video Connie. 💪👣

Connie, you hit the nail on the head. Gradually technology and access to social media and the COVID lockdowns that created a need for many to reach to social media as a social network and companionship or the latest news and we are now distracted by those distractions. A tough habit now to break but which first needs to be realized as you point out. This habit has seeped into other areas of my life that makes it difficult just to sit in peace which I used to love to do. Great video and thank you for pointing this out. We need to come back to self and recognize the benefits of doing nothing as even in nothing we are doing something ❤️

Connie! I just checked the setting on my phone for "Digital Wellbeing" and 😳😳😳
I'm not even going to admit what my average daily screen time is!! I'm reminded of my Mom yelling at us kids on Saturday mornings when we were watching cartoons "get outside". Oh my, what an eye opener!! Thank you! 😊❤

Connie I am mindful of the distractions of social media. I used to post lots but nowadays I post nothing. I do go and check on friends and family once or twice a week but not multiple times daily like before. I’m connected with whom I want to be connected in real life and that’s only what I really need. My life is not for broadcast anymore. I’m mindful of the perceptions we are given on social media - everything picture perfect and it is toxic. Nothing is what it seems unless it’s in front of you. Trying to teach my children these things too.
Thank you Connie. Ps I love your white trousers. Gorgeous. ❤

You are describing the life of the average modern citizen nowadays.
We are distracted, and through those distractions. There are those who seek to manipulate us, as well.
Basically, many humans have been put on remote control!
It will be fascinating to see going forward how many come to this realization and what choices people will make

This is a very powerful video Connie. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I’ve embarked on my own social media detox as well. The Warren Buffet quote sums it up nicely and it’s a fact born out of research that social media has a negative impact on our mental health. I’ve deactivated my Facebook account and have reduced and almost eliminated my time on Instagram. Keep up the great work - love your content. Beautiful day to you too.

I am glad to know there are other people who also avoid screen time. I've never done twitter, did instagram for a little while only to follow one person, and currently do facebook only to follow one group once in a while. Instagram closed me out because they couldn't track my activity--I didn't have any viewing activity to be tracked! You tubes are my screen vice. 😄

I resisted buying computers and smart phones for years, as I feared I'd become dependent upon them. Sure enough, I find that I browse the Internet news, play online games, monitor the weather and wildfire smoke conditions, watch TH-cam, etc. At least I still rely on a landline phone. But it's easy to become addicted to the distractions our techie devices provide us.

I am doing the same thing, only it is not only driven by the extreme negativity on social media but also the eye strain and migraines from it all. I am down to about 3 minutes per day now, your video came up so I decided to weigh in. I think detoxing is necessary if you are finding yourself stressed.

I am constantly searching online to create the different life that I want - very much what attracted me to your videos. I spend hours a day doing so. Now you've created that life - how are you managing with all the planning and accommodation and tickets and stuff that you require to continue to be nomadic? And running a business from abroad. Do you find all this a challenge in terms of screen time ?

Hi Connie, thank you so much for this video and reminding me to balance the digital distractions. Listening to your voice, watching your videos, and listening to you on Aura calms me and helps to redirect my focus! I would love to know where you are in your travels and where you've been filming some of the videos unless you're keeping that to yourself. The places are so lovely it's just nice to find out where these places are, obviously not the exact locations but perhaps the countries? thank you!

I feel as you do. I limit the amount of time I use my phone. I don't have any social media apps on it either. I work from home and I keep the phone in my desk drawer most of the day and leave it there on airplane mode or turned off when I head off to bed. I avoid reaching for it first thing in the morning.

Stuff confines/limits/reduces size of Self. Objects indent self, shrink self as you worry about them. Rich tend to be very limited, worrying about how to maintain wealth and stuff. Everyone worries about car getting scratched. Desire is not happiness because objects don't last, then desire for new object in vicious circle.

Who would know us better than the one who created us? He knows every corner of our heart, every single thought and every hair on our head.
The best meditative thoughts we find in Gods word, the Bible. It gives us orientation, guidance, purpuse, true peace and joy to our soals because it comes straight from our Creator.
All the beauty He lets us enjoy in the nature comes from Him and He alone deserves all our honor, glory and worship, and how often do we neglect it or even search for absolute fullfillment in ourselfs, in selflove.
Nature is like a gift. We should not be thankful to the gift but to the giver himself!
In us is nothing good that can satisfy our restless hearts. Only Jesus Christ can renew our heart and desires. ♡ You are wonderfully made - in Gods image, your creator. ♡

Hi! Connie I use Facebook to inspire MySelf and others too by sharing some slices of our life . I share some of slogan that inspires me however I have no Twitter and Instagram, no Tiktok. I'm into TH-cam because of curiosity and I also want spread enthusiasm, JoY and inspiration to humanity. I also wanna share my experiences, my thoughts not necessarily to teach people I also wanna share my photographs😊.
In Facebook I'm so active or very enthusiastic to share or update my life so to control I deactivated my account then go back again.😊. In Facebook I can do whatever I want 😊, artists, creator, writer etc.
