I remember going there many years ago in 1979. I was a huge KISS fan and visited all the sites. The loft was different then and I could not get access into the building. I spent most of my time at the Hotel Diplomat. I saw the stage were they use to play. It was pretty run down by that time. I also found old telephone books and called Ace's dad. LOL! I was just a kid at the time.
KISS' loft is across the hall in what is now a publishing office. We visited there in Nov 1997 & in Jan 2000 before the security gate was installed. At that time the owner of the Publishing office gave us a tour. Also at that time we were able to get right up onto the roof. I suspect the security gate has been installed on that floor because so many fans have started visiting the site
I was there about 3 years ago getting my picture taken outside the door on the street when the caretaker/security guy came out and asked if I was a Kiss fan. He took us inside and up the little freight elevator where he unlocked the gate. He told us that we had to be really quiet and could look around a few minutes. The best part of my entire trip to N.Y. was walking up and putting my hand flat against the door of the loft.
Cool footage. KISS' loft is actually across the hall parallel to the comic store though. Went back in June and did a little tour myself... feels kinda odd being in the same building as when they were writing all those classic tunes!
I wonder,what the rent is,now vs then? The area,was a bit isolated,and wild,back then[yes,even in the heart of Manhattan]. It's rather,tame,lame,and gentrified,now.

How do you know it was across the hall? If that guy is saying that the comic store is it? I'm just curious
Wow !!!
Wow, interesting to think that the space is now a comic book store; Gene's love of comics and how the band are like comic book heroes come to life.
Guy should put up a Kiss poster or something acknowledging the significance of that room.
Dude if I was rich I buy that loft turn it into a kiss museum.

Have any members of KISS visited there recently ?
How did they afford this loft with no $$ ?
