Spotted Salamander Breeding 2022

We experienced something exciting on the first week of February, and we want to share it with you! Spotted salamanders returned to the pools where they once hatched themselves to breed. Check it out!

Perhaps sometime I’ll be privileged to see this in person. We visit here frequently to enjoy nature. I just posted a video on my channel about liverworts. Practically all of the scaleworts pictured came from here.🌿🌳

I found one of these in my entrance, very dehydrated. It took a few days of soaking in a small pan of rain water but it's fat and happy. On a diet of worms, isopods, slugs and roaches. This one is only about 4" long though. Great video, I always forget how graceful they are in the water.
