    I do the exact same with the Vinyl. Even one ride makes it so much harder to go back and clean it fully, too!
    My other thought is that it’s maybe $40 in vinyl vs $100 or more for a ride wrap kit, and you still have to apply it yourself. Might as well cut it on the fly and apply it in the high wear areas. It’s pretty easy!

      This.
      Getting back into mountain biking a few years ago, I got my wife a Giant Stance. Nice ride. But I didn't tape anything. The downtube is just flat out wrecked in the paint department.
      When I got myself an upgrade (YT Jeffsy), I taped all over the place. Bike still looks brand new 3 years later. And yes, it makes cleaning a snap.

    Nice job with the pre-ride preparing! I totally agree with that you have to disassemble, lube everything and assemble the bike together, before you start riding the hell out of the alloy horse!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Hey all, quick tip on bedding brakes in: don't come to a full stop on your first few runs during the bedding process. This will leave a deposit of brake pad material in one spot on the disc and will make it much more prone to squealing later on. I suggest finding a hill and going down it around 5 or more times while pulling on the brakes. Again, don't come to a full stop for the first few runs, just let yourself roll down the hill whilst applying pressure to the brakes

    I'd recommend keep the chain factory lube at first and change it at the first needed clean. It's not staying clean for longer with another chainlube.
    Always flats on tubes? Maybe you are just using those cheap non protected tires. I use Conti with protection case and got not flats since 3 to4 years.

      And forget all the tubes and junk they sell at bike shops. Go to a hardware or automotive store and buy a small can of marine grade grease. It's cheaper, and is waterproof. I use this stuff on my bikes and have no worries about anything penetrating anywhere it is applied. It is a great water barrier.

  • @chw0112
    @chw0112 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI, that's not Loctite, it's Nylok. Loctite would be useless if you re-torque the bolt as it only holds the first time you tighten the bolt. Nylok is a mechanical locking device which basically fills the empty space between the male and female threads and so will be good for 3-4 full thread / unthreads.

    What inserts do you use? Looks like a DIY option? I just got a fresh bike a couple weeks ago and I can’t afford to buy inserts, and I can’t afford to keep replacing tires because of pinch flats, so I’m running tubes for now. Most half decent bearings already have decent grease, and a right one too, at the right ammount (~30%filling)inside them. So I'd refrain from packing everything right away, but adding a grease coating on the outside of the bearing seal, should help with water displacement BEFORE you ever decide, if it's worth replacing grease inside of a bearing, which you're not 100% sure is still ok, or getting ready to replace. This is time consuming AF, not that great to environment since you sponsor degreasers manufacturing, air haulage by massive trucks(cause who doesn't use spray can right?), single item packaging, bulk packaging, then packaging again and shipping to you(because who would walk or ride to local store, when amazon is always AT YOUR HOUSE with their obscene massive boxes for tiniest items+air bags so it doesn't rattle. On top of that you'll use this degreaser spray way too much to clean a bearing, and splatter half dissolved grease on the driveway, so the rain can cleanup after. That's the American way, fuck yeah! So by the time you cleaned, degreased, repacked, paid for spray and shipping, you pretty much have new set of bearings for free, with much more time to ride and if you recycle that bearing correctly, less harm to nature, that you supposedly love equally to your MTB.....oh wait, it was god that created all the living things, so man can use and abuse them as he's pleased, no love required, my bad... :-)
