I just got one of these to work on. I have a feeling my problem is in the power supply. I was just asking myself could these things be sensitive to input power? You just answered my question.
I really enjoyed the video. I wish I could go back to school. So I could be a tech. I know to go so far. And if I don't have what I'm working on fixed. I know to stop. Before I take a chance and matters even more worst off than what they was. I have the very same Craftmans multi meter as you. I've got 2 oscilloscopes, a signal generator, other nice tools to work with. I even have about the same solder extractor. I'm picky about my soldering irons and tips. My favorite of all is upgrading electronics. With better components. So they preform better in every aspect.
Where are the fuses on this amp? My friend said his doesn’t work. It doesn’t work because he thought he was a good idea to mess with my tunings because he still bought this amp for a preloaded dual sdr after I told him to go for a 1200w amp. Lets just say he told me he turned every knob fully to the right and shredded the voice coils on the sdr’s and blew the amp. I’m assuming he blew his fuses, I’m not able to look at it for him at the moment and I ain’t seeing any fuses in this amp from the pictures and videos I’m seeing online.
I have a HD3000 on my bench now. My problem is a bit more complex, mine goes thru selftest, and then goes into protect. It seems to be related to the amplifier sections. Did you ever monitor the PIC inputs to determine what voltages were normal. I removed the output Mosfets and IR2092 driver ICS , and still goes into protect after selftest .
Mine does the same thing I brought it off Facebook 2 weeks ago and didn’t think to test it there, when I supply power to it the fans speed up and it goes though that test then fans shut off and it goes into protect
Wow, way fewer power supply and output mosfets than my earthquake phd5000w, and mine is only rated for 3000w rms.... What is the actual rms output of that taramps??
sir good day and thanks for the video , i have trouble for on taramps hd3000 to square wave signal generated input of mosfet driver, at the amplifier section i suspect that the comparator chip with dual output (c16 at the schematic) is damage due to emitting lot of heat , may main problem is i don't know if what is the part number. Sir do you know the part number of this chip or any replacement? thanks

Not 100% sure because I do not have the schematics for that amp, but it kind of sounds like its something to do with power trying to find a ground and its going through part of the turn on circuit via your remote wire. You should never be disconnecting the ground wire without first removing the main power wire fuse (you should have a fuse on your power wire or you risk dead amps, burnt up wires or at worse a electrical fire which burns up your car). Once main power is disconnected you can remove the ground, this prevents all kinds of electrical problems and accidents.
Lots of different faults can make the protect light come on. A tech needs to do a check on it to see if it is something easy to fix or more difficult. Have you googled to see if there is a tech in your area?
Great video, wish you would've explained on a more beginners level, i dont know which leg is gate and which is drain, although I know how to look it up but on this amp I would've liked to see it explained so i wouldn't have to do so much research while watching and also you didn't explain what you out your multimeter on. Great video though
Most the time you use continuity setting on the multimeter, like here checking for shorts. This is a older video, I get better as I go, and still keep learning myself.
@@Crazylogix007 thanks man, I just got a 2ohm version of this amp that has a burnt mosfet and a 1 ohm version that visually nothing wrong, just stuck in protect, i checked the power supply with a multi meter in continuity and the power supply seemed fine but one mosfet on the audio side read much different than the rest, what you think?

These first Brazilian amps do put out rated power, but they do not handle it continuous, Brazilian music is much different than the bass heavy songs in the US. Taramps is now producing big amps that handle the continuous loads. This amp would be great for mids and highs though.
Crazylogix007 I just ordered a taramp hd 3000. I listen to lots of bass heavy music, so you think I’m going to regret this purchase?!? Do you think this amp will have trouble keeping up the power? I got the 1 ohm version and it’s a 3000k amp but it can be set up to a 4ohm load to put out around 1400k and that’s how I plan to set it up at 4 ohm load. What you think? Will it suck at pushing out the power for bass heavy subwoofers??
Yep, 3k, big d wiz tested it. But they won't do it very long, overheat or die. They were designed for music that only needed big power every once in a while. Not the big Bass heavy stuff most listen to here in the states and Europe
@@10krms8 To me the Brazilian designs are still "new" and have not been around long enough to have a informed opinion on. I enjoy the old school amps the most, but I'm old LOL.

What's the fan size inside the taramp hd3k mines started making noise
Take the fan out, lift the sticker on the back center of the fan, exposing the bearing. Add a drop of oil.
