    I drilled this and tried it while rolling a little bit the last few days. It's been working very well. My biggest problems when executing the move are being too extended against much bigger guys, controlling guys with strong legs and my weak/injured shoulders, and hesitation. More drilling will help with the hesitation and feel of getting over-extended, and weight lifting will help with my shoulders (hopefully). That's my plan, anyway. Thanks for sharing!

      hey jimmy thanks for the feed back, have you found theres sometimes knee pressure when your partner draws your foot back ( when he tries to force half guard)

    • @JimmyCerra
      @JimmyCerra 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidAlvarez-vz4sg I haven't experienced that, though I have pretty flexible knees generally. (Said while I'm nursing a knee injury.... lol) I have experienced guys trying to reestablish half guard. One thing that seems to have worked for me, while rolling, is to switch to a longer range pass (like the bullfighter or pin knees pass) on the opposite side if they extend their body. Gotta put more work in to see how it works.

    • @DavidAlvarez-vz4sg
      @DavidAlvarez-vz4sg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JimmyCerra thanks man i found that the only position i dont find pain is when i completeley seperate both knees apart which nullifys most pressure from bottom leg

    • @mikesmototravels
      @mikesmototravels 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it's almost a year later, but if you're still having trouble with overextending, JT really emphasizes the need to stay tight with your underhook on the hip, rather than reaching for it. I've been training at Essential under JT since 2017, and that's been the biggest game changer. Also, watch the video again from the 9 minute mark - driving your knee INTO the stomach as opposed to driving away and out is very helpful in keeping tight.
