I'll bet he never believed that he would earn the Irving Waugh Award of Excellence, the highest honor in CMA, in 2014. The second only music artist after John Cash to receive the award. As the Rolling Stone says in their article "For as consistent in his creativity and unassuming in his manner that he is, it's easy to take Vince Gill for granted. Fortunately, that wasn't the case last night, as the CMA bestowed upon Gill the Irving Waugh of Excellence Award........" The Grammy and the music industry knows his high quality as a musician and demonstrated dedication to the country music It was well deserved.
Hmm. I'm thinking the great man might be affected by a cold here, not because he's not bringing his usual magic to the song - he is - but because he's dropped the key of this song from his usual 'E' down a tone to ''D'. And, there's a wee occasional 'hoarse' in some lyrics - 2:05 - 'so I won't 'have' to miss you'.. Still a Country legend!
Great, Vince, in style always! You put elegance in the country music. Thank you!
