I definitely appreciate your rank but I would definitely have Disarm the Decent in the top three! 🤘 Also would have Atonement much higher on the list. Agree that End of Heartache is their finest work.
I had only heard songs here and there from these guys until I recently did a whole discography run. This is my ranking based on personal enjoyment so far, keeping in mind this band is great so even their less great albums are great by most standards. 8. 2000 s/t - It sounded pretty messy and unrefined to me but not bad. 7. Incarnate - This felt refined yet fairly bland. 6. Alive or Just Breathing - A lot of people seem to have this as their favorite but it still sounds unrefined and messy to me. I think I actually enjoy the sound of Incarnate more but there is a lot of ambition on this record so I rank it higher. 5. 2009 s/t - I went in expecting this to be bad from everything I heard but it was pretty good. It was a really pleasant listen if a little pedestrian by the band's standards. 4. The End of Heartache - Some of the band's best material is on this album, and this is when their sound got more refined. But the middle portion of the album doesn't hold my attention like I hoped. 3. Atonement - This album grew on me big time. The songs together make an album that flows beautifully and is stronger than the sum of its parts. There are incredibly uplifting songs on this album and vibes that they hadn't explored before. The songs feel impactful to their overall career. 2. As Daylight Dies - This album full of iconic material, and their peak with Howard Jones. 1. Disarm the Descent - To me this felt like the most complex and ambitious album, and it was really fresh for them.
I love Killswitch engage is one of my favorite bands of all time Jesse leach is a great vocalist And so is Howard Jones My most favorite album is as daylight dies
8. Killswitch Engage (2nd) 7. Incarnate 6. Atonement 5. Killswitch Engage (1st) 4. Disarm The Dissent 3. As Daylight Dies 2. The End Of Heartache 1. Alive Or Just Breathing
@@some_shitposting_idiot3023 Killswitch Engage pioneered that sound at the time as well as the the metalcore scene. Specially, Howard Jones brought something new to the band and the genre which led to so many other bands trying to duplicate their sound. It’s nowhere near “emo”. Pure ignorance.
As a fan of Killswitch for now 11 years I'd rank their discography as follows: 8. Atonement - I was really left disappointed and underwhelmed by it and just couldn't get the feeling that a lot of tracks sounded unfinished and not arranged to their fullest potential. Although there are some good songs and interesting features on this one I also kinda missed that one hit (or hits) that all their albums before had. Still it must be acknowleged that Jesse sounds as good as ever on this one. PS: I was also really disappointed with the artwork. 7. Killswitch Engage 2009 - Let me be clear - between Atonement and S/T 2009 there is a huge margin for me. Although it appears to me that the band itself (especially Adam) really hates that record (I think their recording process was hugely influenced by their relationship with each others and the soon to be hiatus with Howard was almost tangible) it still is a very solid work. Sure, the production is pretty polished, sure, the lyrics are watered down AS FUCK(!) but in the end it's an album offering a lot of great riffage and melodies (e.g. Never Again, Starting Over, Save Me, This Is Goodbye). Also the aforementioned "Never Again" features their best guitar solo. 6. Killswitch Engage 2000 - The one that started it all. The roughness, the passionate melodies, the lyrics. This album really has got its own vibe. Two songs ended up being re-recorded on AOJB yet I prefer their 2000 versions because their sound more raw and unpolished, more wild and passionate. Also "One Last Sunset" still remains the most outstanding KSE song to this date and I would really enjoy them heading back for this direction on a song in the future. 5. Incarnate - I've got the impression that Incarnate sounded rougher than Disarm The Descent. It was a really solid follow up to Jesses comeback record but aside from bangers like Strength Of The Mind and Hate By Design some parts of the songwriting on some tracks (e.g. the second half of Embrace The Journey... Upraised) appeared to me as being lazy and not thought out thoroughly. This was a bad omen for what would follow on Atonement. 4. End Of Heartache - To be honest the KSE album I've listend to the least. While I recognise its importance for the band, being the major factor of them getting big, and bestowing upon us hits like Bid Farewell, Rose Of Sharyn and the title track, for me it kinda lacks in rawness, appears almost too polished at times. 3. Disarm The Descent - Yes, I rated this one over EOH. Why? Because of the almost over the top aggressivity. When I heard "The Hell In Me" I just couldn't believe that Killswitch were capable of blasting it off like this. I might be biased because I really anticipated Jesses return (and I somewhat prefer him over Howard) yet Disarm was one of the best comeback albums to be ever made. 2. As Daylight Dies - The album that got me into Killswitch and honestly my favorite over EOH. Their songwriting was more focused than ever, the songs - catchy and heavy at the same time. 1. Alive Or Just Breathing - for me the obvious contender for the first spot aswell as being one of the best, if not THE best metalcore album of all times. From front to back just bangers, amazing riffs, amazing melodies, great and touching lyrics. Nothing more to add.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 I was talking about the second half of the song. It could have been arranged a little bit more exciting. I kinda get why the stuck with the more repetitive guitar jugging and I really love the vibe this part emits. I just expected a little bit more. As for EOH I just happened to listen to this record the least. Soundwise I kind of don't enjoy it that much as other records (although I absolutely love it!). Don't get me wrong, this are just my personal thoughts on their Discography. There are no rights or wrongs. How would you rank 'em?
@@Smngtr I'll have to get back to you later on about that and relisten to some albums that I kinda avoided for a bit as far as the amount of listens I gave between both self-titled albums. At the time of the 2009 release I still gave it spins and didn't mind it but it did not stick and resonate with me whatsoever. All I know is my top 3 probably won't be changed between EOH, ADD, and DTD.
Def agree with you on everything. This is a ranking that makes sense. DTD is so underrated, if ADD wasn't so iconic and AoJB wasn't AoJB it would be top. Just everything on that album. Would put Atonement over 2009 because it has some just epic aggression, 20 years into their run. KSE is a straightforward band, they don't feel fake... and 2009 was their only album that felt a little fake (maybe EoH a bit too).
Wow i disagree so much lol For me 1 As daylight dies 2 Atonement 3 incarnate 4 Alive or just breathing 5 end of heartache 6 disarm the descent 7 st (older) 8 st (newer)
I came up with a theory about bands. Every band's 1st or 2nd album is always their 1st or 2nd best album. To me at least. Prove me wrong. Edit: Cattle Decapitation is a big exception to this. I think it is more like the first or second album before the most popular albums that get a band to be famous are the best ones.
Incarnate is a killer album and needs to be above the 2009 self-titled for sure! 2009 is their worst album by far. Incarnate doesn't get the credit it deserves. Strength Of The Mind, Hate By Design, Quiet Distress...? These songs kick ass.

@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 It's where KsE started to fall off for me creatively, it sounded like a repeat of End of heartache but not as good, it was repetitive
@@mainey190 The End Of Heartache and As Daylight Dies sound completely different, which is a good thing. ADD featured fast paced songs compared to The End Of Heartache. The album cover for the '04 speaks for itself.
So far I've watched 2 of your rank em all videos and disagree almost 100% with your rankings. Oh well each to their own I guess. Atonement features Jesse's best vocal work to date. Not to mention guest appearances from Howard and the living legend Chuck Billy.
Howard gave us two outstanding albums and one "meh" album. Jesse has given us two outstanding albums and three "good" albums. The 2009 self-titled album is just so... boring, to me. It feels entirely uninspired and you can tell the creative juices are overflowing with the next release and Jesse's return.
Cant get behind this list. No way whatsoever is the debut at the bottom. 8. Atonement 7. Incarnate 6. 2009 5. As Daylight Dies 4. End of Heartache 3. 2000 2. Disarm the Descent 1. Alive or Just Breathing Give me the top 5 and keep the rest. It really comes down to taste which of those 5 albums you prefer, but they are head and shoulders better albums than Atonement, Incarnate, and the 2009 album.
Self titled and AOJB are THE KsE peak albums. Way too much Jesse stuff at the bottom. Daylight and 09 kse should be at the bottom and maybe these recent jesse albums i guess but Howard is a great singer whose voice just doesnt fit with metalcore and his screams are mediocre. Just the decline in quality from AoJB to end of heartache songwriting wise showed how integral jesse is to what this band should sound like. Disarm had some key tracks but had too many meh tracks and lackluster production but still usurps all howard albums

5. Atonement
4. Incarnate
3. As Daylight Dies
2. Alive...
1. The End of Heartache AND Disarm the Descent
100% agree with this list. after Daylight Dies they started to move into a faster thrash / rock direction and the production became a bit stale especially on the last 2 albums
I love their debut! So good!
I definitely appreciate your rank but I would definitely have Disarm the Decent in the top three! 🤘 Also would have Atonement much higher on the list. Agree that End of Heartache is their finest work.
As you said no real wrong answers but AoJB for me is unbeatable.
what is the awesome music playing in the background?
I love Killswitch engage is one of my favorite bands of all time
Jesse leach is a great vocalist
And so is Howard Jones
My most favorite album is as daylight dies
8. Killswitch Engage (2nd)
7. Incarnate
6. Atonement
5. Killswitch Engage (1st)
4. Disarm The Dissent
3. As Daylight Dies
2. The End Of Heartache
1. Alive Or Just Breathing
Idk why atonement and incarnate gets so much heat. They’re pretty damn good albums
I think they are good but the top 3 are great
I really liked Atonement. Incarnate bored me to tears. There really isn't anything on there that stuck out for me.
As Daylight Dies number 1 for me.
So you enjoy generic emometalcore?
@@some_shitposting_idiot3023 It only sounds generic now because so many bands were influenced by that sound at the time.
Alive or Just Breathing was a great album.
Do this for Bullet for my Valentine
Ew... no thank you.
As a fan of Killswitch for now 11 years I'd rank their discography as follows:
Lolwat. Embrace The Journey is easily the best track on the album. Really cool bridge too. And I don't get wym with EOH. The rawness is there.
I like all of tham
Their most recent albums probably the weakest for me, along with the second self titled one. Loved the rest.
But DTD was badass lol
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 Facts. My top 3 would be EoH, ADD, and DTD
@@michaelpruette751 Finally!!! Same for me. Atonement wasn't bad either. It would be either #4 or #5.
Wow i disagree so much lol
For me
1 As daylight dies
2 Atonement
3 incarnate
4 Alive or just breathing
5 end of heartache
6 disarm the descent
7 st (older)
8 st (newer)
Review Converge next
Yes!!!! More Massachusetts titans!
AoJB
ADD
EoH
DD
Atone
Incarn
KSE1
KSE2
Wtfayta? lol :)
You know this band is legend when there’s not a single bad album in their discography 😂😂😂
You’re speaking facts!
Incarnate is a killer album and needs to be above the 2009 self-titled for sure! 2009 is their worst album by far. Incarnate doesn't get the credit it deserves. Strength Of The Mind, Hate By Design, Quiet Distress...? These songs kick ass.
I'm more mad that Atonement was even lower. But yeah, Incarnate was decent but too many filler tracks for me.
My list:
1. Alive or just breathing
2. End of heartache
3. Atonement
4. Disarm the descent
5. Killswitch engage
6. Incarnate
7. As daylight dies
8. Killswitch engage (2009)
Why is ADD so low?
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 It's where KsE started to fall off for me creatively, it sounded like a repeat of End of heartache but not as good, it was repetitive
@@mainey190 The End Of Heartache and As Daylight Dies sound completely different, which is a good thing. ADD featured fast paced songs compared to The End Of Heartache. The album cover for the '04 speaks for itself.
Hell yea
Are you really leaving at the end of the year ?
Rank em all Judas preist please
Alive#1
So far I've watched 2 of your rank em all videos and disagree almost 100% with your rankings. Oh well each to their own I guess. Atonement features Jesse's best vocal work to date. Not to mention guest appearances from Howard and the living legend Chuck Billy.
As I laying dying
Idk I love Atonement
Defintely don't agree with their last 2 being at the bottom
They’re vest work is with Howard, Jesse’s only good album was Alive Or Just Breathing, now KSE with Jesse is just boring.
I honestly think end of heartache is overrated. there were like 3 amazing tracks and the rest were meh
Cant get behind this list. No way whatsoever is the debut at the bottom.
8. Atonement
7. Incarnate
6. 2009
5. As Daylight Dies
4. End of Heartache
3. 2000
2. Disarm the Descent
1. Alive or Just Breathing
Give me the top 5 and keep the rest. It really comes down to taste which of those 5 albums you prefer, but they are head and shoulders better albums than Atonement, Incarnate, and the 2009 album.
Ehh Atonement was honestly way better than their debut. Jesse's vocals are better than ever.
For me INCARNATE is number 1.
The vocals, riffs, song structure and most importantly the heaviness make this a master-class in modern metal. 👊
1. As Daylight Dies
2. The End Of Heartache
3. Alive Or Just Breathing
4. Killswitch Engage (2009)
5. Atonement
6. Killswitch Engage (2000)
7. Disarm The Decent
8. Incarnate
