    I'm very glad that you guys decided to review this chair, as none of the other large chair reviewers on TH-cam have seemed to get this on their radar yet. I have spent the last week debating between the 5188 and the Atlas, and I decided to take a gamble and go with the 5188 the day before you posted this video. Ultimately, I favored the much better lumbar support (I have mild scoliosis in my mid to lower back), more comfortable armrests, and appreciated addition of a footrest (even if it is not the best) on the 5188. I also live in Southern California so having a mesh seat over a fabric seat was a plus in my book.
    Combined with the fact this chair has an adjustable backrest and I am a taller/larger guy (6'0 ft), this video helped me feel like I made a good choice with my purchase. I feel like you don't see this specific set of features and adjustments at this price range very often, let alone from a seemingly quality company like Colamy. Thank you for the review BTOD. I hope to see more affordable options from you in the future.

      Did you happen to compare it to the FlexiSpot C7 or Boulies or ErgoChair Pro? I'm getting dizzy there are so many choices that look alike. I don't trust these manufacturers to put the lumbar support in the right place for me, and FlexiSpot C7 has adjustable lumbar support, but they don't have collapsable armrests. I have to keep my arm at waste level because of carpo tunel, so I'm picky.

    Working at a Staples, my primary concern about this one is going to be if the mesh pulls away from the seat frame. Our Dexley and Kroy chairs have similar seats and have an issue with seat mesh retention failing within 3 years, which the Hyken has a different design that does not experience this failure.

    • @ElXtrick
      @ElXtrick 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      you may not believe me but i also worked at staples :P the hyken does have a weight limit if your exceeding 300lbs the mesh will have a streched or sagging look to it fairly quickly. (could be thinking of another chair but i believe the chair already sets a limit at 250lbs for the piston itself) out side of this, i agree the hyken is a pretty decent chair. the kroy i had to damage out. out of the box because the tearing around the rim and that was the display chair

    I wonder how this 5188 compares to the other Colamy mesh chair (High Back Mesh Office Chair with Footrest) that is currently going for about $230. It's slightly smaller than this chair but seems to have many of the same features. Of course it also was being sold for about $130 for months so it may go on sale at Black Friday or during some other sale period.

  • @misterringer

    I picked up the Atlas a couple days ago. Solid chair. Great seat padding and back support. The headrest doesn't stick out enough but a cheap headrest pad fixes that.
    The arms are too wide out on the Atlas as well, even when moved all the way in. That's my only gripe but it's still very comfortable overall.

    • @justcause9334
      @justcause9334 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The headrest can be rotated inward. The manual doesn't show it but where it mounts to the chair can be rotated. Do not do it for the first time when it is attached to the chair.
      Follow these steps first.
      Disclaimer: I tried loosening the bolts that hold the headrest to the headrest mount. They would not budge so I did the following.
      1. Remove the headrest from chair
      2. place a cloth over 1 side that mounts to the chair. (the portion that has the mounting hole)
      3. use an open-end wrench where it would mount to the chair. You can use pliers just be careful to not squeeze to hard damaging the mount.
      4. hold the headrest firm with 1 hand and use the wrench to rotate the mounting bracket. Do this a few time time to help loosen it up just enough.
      5. repeat for the other side keeping the mounting portions even. (start with both mounts rotated about halfway)
      6. mount the headrest back on the chair. test to see if the headrest is where you want it. If not stand behind the chair and use both hands to brace the chair and headrest now rotate the headrest the direction you need. It will take a little bit of force to adjust it.
      Hopefully I explained this correctly. I do agree with you on the armrests being to wide. It would have been nice to move them in more.

    • @FDonkey
      @FDonkey 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’ve had the E3 pro and it is a perfect chair except for one thing. The armrests are too high even in the lowest position so you probably won’t get under the table except you have height adjustment with it. And I say that with 6.3 and 240 lbs. The E3 is a little on the rattle side but the moment you sit in and put your weight on it all is good. I would have kept it if it wasn’t for the high armrests. So if this point doesn’t affect you give the E3 a try.
