  • After having my system for over a month I decided to do another video. Going more in depth with the system what I like and dislike. My thoughts..Is it worth it? What Should you buy first? Should you get the whole system? The Soundtouch 300 from Bose is a really great sounding system and I explain why. Sorry I didn't take a lot of clips for this video

    I bought the Cinemate 130 two years ago, and the system has been awesome. The system is easy to set up, and calibrates automatically when instructions are followed. In my opinion, it's the software and technology that we are paying a little more for. I have no regrets and thank you for this video.

    Great video, very informative. I'm planning on getting this or the Yamaha yas-203. Your suggestion to get it a piece at a time will work out best for me. Thanks

      michael napaul yeah definitely the good thing is that you have options so you can get piece by piece. Now just started a new year and that only means more new technology I would look into CES 2017 to see if there any new system coming out. I suggest that you listen to it and give it a try and take it from there. Glad I can help

    Great review, thank you! Just curious can you adjust the bass level on the sub? I live in a town house so don't want to piss off the neighbors if it's too loud. Also curious what your thoughts are on comparing this system to the $350-500 Bose Cinemate 15? I am torn and don't know which to get. Quite the price difference I know. I currently have a Vizio sound bar with the satellite speakers and sub which is pretty loud but kind of looking for the next step up. Thanks for any info you can provide.

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891
      @ferdamusonthebeatz7891  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Lin I never heard the cinemate 15 but the new sub compare to the old once I here is big difference. As far as Visio compare to bose it's all in the ears but bose has been doing sound systems for quite sometimes. So they know what their doing but is it loud I think the bass is loud for my space to the point that if you can adjust from 1-10 ..one being almost off to 10 being the loudest mines is at about a 5. It can get bassy but it comes in handle for music and get togethers. When it comes to movies I feel like I'm in a movie theater. What I would do is cause I know the price might be high for some. You can test out the cinemate 15 and see if u like it and go for it but if you want the lasted in bose technology I'll say go with the new system. But you can take home the CM15 and if u don't like it you can bring it back to bose and pay the difference for the 300.

      Ferdamus On The Beatz awesome thanks for the info, I was all ready to buy the Cinemate 15 and walked into Best Buy to get it because it was on sale for $350 from $500. The guy told me to check out a Samsung sound bar and got me thinking about doing more research then I found the 300 series and thinking I might spring for the sound bar and subwoofer! I'm glad you can adjust the bass! Thanks again man, much appreciated

      Chris Lin I would also look at Yamaha and there a pioneer one coming soon that it's gonna be really good but at the end of the day do what make you happy and find the sound best fit you. My dad has the sumsung with the sub and it packs a punch. It really good for the price.

      Chris Lin I own the cinemate series ii from a few years ago (cinemate 15 is the newer version) and it is quite powerful, but after hearing the bose ST 300 at best buy, I'm completely sold and will be buying it in the next couple of weeks. my wife isn't about me spending so much on speakers, but heard them for herself and gave me the thumbs up to get it. there's a reason for the price difference, and it's more than worth it to me

    Awesome review. I'm thinking about getting this. Can't afford the whole package so just getting the sound bar and the small speakers. I might spring for the sub later in the year. Thanks.

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891
      @ferdamusonthebeatz7891  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks....is true that the speakers has gotten better with updates but for every step forward there always one back. I️ have had an overall good experience with my system. I️ would definitely get the bar first. If I️ were to pick between the surrounds and sub ..definitely go with the sub before the surrounds but that just me. Also technology is growing and there always something better each year. Do as much research as you can to get the perfect one for you.

      Ferdamus On The Beatz got it dude , great sound 🔊, it creates kinda like a fake center channel , so clear , sound wise it's way better than my Sony HT ST5( WHICH IM ABOUT TO PUT ON OFFERUP" BUT" OPTIONS wise the GS is severely lacking , I can't play any music from my phone on it so I had to go and buy a bose sound color Bluetooth speaker, the sony had everything inside of it . The Bose GS Series II IS still awesome and I don't plan on upgrading it anytime in the near future.

    Appreciate your video! Just purchased all three units. Sound bar, bass, virtual speakers. Im having difficulty wirelessly connecting everything, is it possible to sync everything up at once, and do the sound calibrating all at once when initially setting up. Concern was getting an Amber blinking light on bar on double square icon when I attempt to follow instructions for connecting to acoustic mass and rear speakers./:
    Also - do the rear speaker receivers have to be evenly spaced on opposite sides of room, which they recommend. I just don't have enough outlets and space..
    All rear speaker wires are all running and same direction and both receivers are 1 foot from each other, was wondering if that was causing interference. Sorry load of questions. Appreciate any help!

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891
      @ferdamusonthebeatz7891  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandt Jacobus you can calibrate the speaker every time you move your set up around is ok. No home is perfect my rear speakers are not perfectly spaced out the left side is slightly closer to me compare to the right. I know there was a recent update about two days ago for bugs fixes. Hopefully that helps.. I know I had a little trouble connecting to wifi at first but I checked out the PDF on the troubleshoot in the website and figured it out. Also the application does help when you troubleshooting.

      David Niosi no you will hear video games if your playing it. Movies if the movie has the surround sound option. Some shows if it's properly formatted in a surround sound format you will hear it. I think they working on an software update to control the volume on the surround sound because it tent to be low at most times.

    • @staggerlee41
      @staggerlee41 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just as Ferdamus mentioned, you can stream Apple Music or any other non native source from Bluetooth. I suspect there were two reasons. Those being a cost cutting measure for Bose if in fact an additional chip was needed. Also, Bose and Apple were in/have been in litigation so they're not exactly the best of friends at the moment. lol
      It's Airplay that requires a chip not Apple Music. Allegedly, they are in discussion but nothing definitive yet.

    If you're going to buy the sound bar you're definitely going to need the subwoofer now other way around,otherwise will be very sharp,dry no bass kind of sound.If you have multiple devices ( and who doesn't these days) to connect them will be more cumbersome than an amplifier with multiple "hdmi in".

    Awesome job with the video and follow up in the questions posed below. I am strongly considering adding one of these. While shopping for a sound bar as a Christmas gift for my parents, I made the *mistake* of listening to this. I fell in love! You were spot on when you mentioned the Accoustamass' bass is THUNDEROUS! I've got an inexpensive Sony right now that is perfectly tolerable, but I just feel it lacks the quality sound I want. I use it sometimes while watching TV or movies, but I'm finding the primary use is for streaming music either from my computer or phone. This is where the Sony is underwhelming and what I'm hoping the Bose can improve upon. It sounded great in the store, but I'm more interested in real world use as I think that says much more than a salesman can say about the product. From what I gathered, you find the Soundtouch to be a great choice for listening to music as well as the obvious movies/tv, correct?
    I listend to Sonos as well as that is another consideration, but felt it lacked the richness of sound that the Bose provided. I'm still on the fence between the two, but am leaning Bose at this point.
    Also, you mentioned that you have an older iPod that you wish could stream music to it. There are adaptors available on Amazon that will provide bluetooth connectivity to your devices. I used one on an old iPod Classic and connected it to my vehicle's bluetooth. You might consider looking into one. Mine fits into the 30 pin connection. The only downside is that the 30 pin is also the charging port. I see there are some that will do the same thing but have the 3.5mm plug so your 30 pin's charging port will be free to use.

      staggerlee41 wow thank you for the info. I love my system I try to find an excuse to always have it on. Now if you check some forums you will notice that a lot of people are having connectivity problem with the subwoofer. I haven't experience anything like that only problem I had was with the hdmi arc. Sometimes it just wouldn't play in one of the forum I heard there an issue with Samsung tv but I use optical cable and don't have a single problem . Only thing I don't like is that sometimes the surround sound speakers are too low in certain applications. Depends on the medium or the source. Like I said I love my system is not defected or anything but I have notice a lot of people having problems you my want to look into this.

    • @staggerlee41
      @staggerlee41 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the reply. I've been doing my research on that and have seen the issue regarding ARC HDMI connections. As you have alluded to, folks are bypassing this issue by using the Optical connection. That's not ideal, but from what I have read on the Bose Forum, Bose is working with Samsung to address the ARC connection. I have not been aware of the connection problems with the Accoustamass so that will give me something else to look into. The richness of the sound bar itself is what has me leaning Bose at this point, but I want to do more research. After all, dropping $1k on a sound system isn't exactly chump change:) Thanks again for the videos, very helpful. Hope the info I provided re: adaptor will work for you! Happy Holidays!

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891
      @ferdamusonthebeatz7891  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      staggerlee41 definitely!! Yeah is like an investment...I felt comfortable spending the money because it looked at it as a one time purchase. Also my dad had the bose system with the 8 or 12 speaker and the sub for quite sometime and still works fine. I'm a little upset that some people are having the same issue and it should be address more often. I'm just glad my system works well beside the hdmi arc thing but hopefully it will be fix soon especially since the system sound so great and also the lifestyle series is having the same issue with the connectivity problems of the sub. But I'm glad your aware and what I would do is go to bose and have them demonstrate it and make sure everything works. If it doesn't they gonna say something is disconnected but is most likely they are having the same problem. Sorry for the extra long message I just hope if you do get the system that you are satisfy and happy with a working unit. I heard the Sonos and I wasn't really impress.

      bak2mb I knew it !! I just got my 4K tv ks8000 from Samsung and I did the hdmi arc and I just couldn't believe I couldn't hear a thing . Didn't think twice about it and just used the optical cable. I went to google and check cable quality between hdmi and optical to see if I went to optical way I'm in going to miss on quality. But ..u couldn't tell a difference unless the encoding on my blue ray or PS3 (same thing) has like hi resolution audio decoding then the hdmi cable would be best but I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Yeah but it does suck it has that problem

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891

      Jaison Mathew I honestly don’t know...obviously if u call bose they would probably tell u it won’t work with the bar but...it does have a inputjack like 3.5 input that can be hardwire to the bass module. So if your tv has a output for bass alone I don’t see why not but I’m only guessing. Mine is connected via hdmi arc from sound Bar to tv and connected wirelessly to the bass.

    I just purchased this the Bose ST-300 Soundbar w/the surround speakers and sub. Does anyone have a link for in-depth setup/programming? The manual is very vague and some of the functions of the remote are not covered clearly. Programming the app for IOS is lacking too. I would like to be able to activate, or now how to "Pass-Through" so that I don't have to turn the bar on when just watching standard TV (wife issue).

      fire1962 what I did was go to the bose website and go to sound bar 300 and in the bottom there should be a setup PDF and I usually just use that haven't had a problem set up wasn't too bad just sat down and about 30 mins or less everything was set up hopefully that helps

      Ferdamus anything that can be done to boost the volume of the surround speakers (virtually invisible)?

      fire1962 honestly ...not sure. That one of the reason why I feel is over priced. It feels to have a set volume and even in the app you can't control it. Only thing you can do is just disable or enable it. You can't set volume or make Eq adjustments. Just the way it is. I wish bose gave more control in the app on these speakers because we paid a lot for it and it sucks is just control their way. The only thing I can think of is if you calibrate in a more spaced out way to give more volume but I'm not even sure if that would work

      That's exactly what I did. I'm maxed out for space (large room too). I have read in a couple of the threads posted on their site that this is something they are going to look into/consider. I hope soon!

      fire1962 oh wow that cool I actually look forward to it. Is a pretty pricey system so they should know we want more control over things. Thanks for the info ! Hopefully can keep working on bug fixes and adjustment on their updates

    i think the sound bar and the bass is good enough. the two small surround speakers is useless in my opinion.

      ckmanzano I used to think the same but with the current updates is starting to really sound on point.

      ckmanzano , the small surround speaks will be good for the subtle sounds which would make a difference on some movies.

    How do you turn up the bass on the subwoofer

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891
      @ferdamusonthebeatz7891  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Billys Johnson either with the remote that sound bar comes with or through the bose app on your phone

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891
      @ferdamusonthebeatz7891  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You click on bass on the control and raise up to 5 or down to 1

    Bose or Sonos?

    • @ferdamusonthebeatz7891
      @ferdamusonthebeatz7891  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BerlinNoise Vlog hmmm don’t rely so much on brand but more on sound and it’s function if someone did this same system with aux port and room for big expansion I will easily go with that. Sonos has good sound and I believe you can change the settings more the bose but you would have to actually double check. Go to Best Buy and test them out

      Keep in mind that Sonos does not have HDMI ARC capability. I want to use my TV’s remote for everything and I don’t want another remote and you’ll need ARC for that.

    I have spent a lot of time on the 300 and for music lovers don't buy it. It mutes some instrument sounds on high end. Its way overpriced for the quality.
