I grew up skiing here, but this was my first time in a few years. I was genuinely impressed with the terrain low crowds, and managed to get some first tracks DAYS after a storm.

I think I am mostly done with skiing but I have to say, Bear Valley has the best powder set up in California. No waiting in line hours before the first chair starts moving. One critical condition, it has to be a large/deep low elevation dump. 2 feet of fluff is perfect. ( the parking lot at bear valley is at mid mountain.) What they typically do is keep the lower mountain closed until 10:30 or 11:00. ( All the good stuff is on the lower mountain.) So the powder hounds hit their favorite upper mountain stashes. The runs are short with not that much pitch. However you must never forget!.....Always keep your eyes on the Grizzly bowl and snow valley gates. When they open up you are in for the time of your life! Wide open bowls, rolling drops, gullies, trees, cliffs, side hill, willow forest, rock gardens, steeps, hikes, traverses and powder runs that will last the the whole day. Your legs will be burning and believe it or not you will not even mind the slow double chair back up. I have a video I should post but it shows some "secret" spots, like end of the day fresh track type runs that I don't want to spoil. Hint, if you study the trail map and follow the rules you may be able to figure it out. If you happen to hit Bear Valley on one of these special days, you will be telling your grand kids about that one day....
Can totally see why, probably the most underrated resort I’ve been to. Also, if Kirkwood is you favorite, keep an eye out in my channel over the next few days :)

Fresh tracks at Bear Valley! As long as it’s not too warm there’s always fresh. Grew up there and skied Bear since 1980.
Nice! Yeah, BV rocks, very underrated
That pow looked great too! Nice vid as always dude
Thanks! I wasn’t expecting even particularly soft snow, let alone fresh powder!
@DaleySpam are you still digging the 108s? I also got a pair this season. I'm riding my enforcer 104s still, too. Can't decide which I like more
@@jacobovermyer oh yeah, I still love them! I haven’t tried the 104s but the wildcats are definitely more my style than the enforcer 100s
At the 0:30 mark you're thinking "I'm actually about to do this shit."
That's a steep slope there.
That looks amazing! Was that mostly in Grizzly Bowl.
Mostly! A few are near Mokelumne Express as well (Porridge Bowl, Lift Line, Yellow Submarine)
We got a lot of runs in, Great.
i thought bear valley was flat 😭
Nah dude, shockingly fun terrain there!
