I had an integra and now an arcam 30. The Arcam is much much better quality built and better sound even without setting up Dirac. That’s how much more dynamic it is
I've just picked up at Marantz Cinema 60 for a great deal, and it's going to replace my aging Arcam AVR360. The Arcam still sounds great but is too buggy, and has just fallen too far out of step with current sound formats, and 4K video, so it's time to switch it up. I'll be hanging on to it as long as I can, and either moving it to our second TV room, or it will become my go-to 2-channel amp for my office at home. But my Arcam has served me very well for well over a decade
I got an arcam 41 a couple weeks ago, still in box. Ordering the outlaw 7200 and gonna set it up hopefully in 2 weeks. The arcam was on sale and too good to pass up at 3400 so I grabbed that because of the 13.1 auro alone, not to mention the flexibility of the channels. Hope it goes well when I get it running.
That is an excellent price on the Arcam AV41. I like the Outlaw amplifiers. The 7200 model is sure to be very nice. Good luck - I hope they meet your expectations. -Jon
I’m looking to upgrade from my Marantz 8801 processor (great unit) to an Arcam AV40/41. I had an audition of the JBL Synthesis 55 and that was amazing. The best I’ve ever heard. The movie scene on the audition was the opening 18 minutes of Top Gun Maverick 4K. The JBL was calibrated at the high end audio store where the audition took place but was not yet set up with DIRAC.
I feel Dolby Volume is better on the Arcam than Dynamic volume on the Marantz. The Marantz would noticeably cut the volume. I haven't heard a drastic cut with Dolby volume, at least not yet. It's a nice feature when listening to movies at lower volume levels, etc.
Dolby Volume is a fantastic feature! It use something called Leveler and Modeler to give you reference quality sound at ANY volume level. Only Arcam and Anthem have Dolby Volume incorporated and that IS the reason I only consider those 2 brands. I only whish Arcam would activate Dolby Calibration offset as well (it's there but they disable it because of Dirac). My old Harman/Kardon AVR had Dolby Calibration as well.
I think one big selling point for Arcam is if you have limited rack space, and have difficult to drive speakers, then there are very few options. The AVR31 with its class G amplification can put out enough power to drive deep bass and dynamics from most speakers. It is unfortunate that software and quality issues mar the experience, as when it works, it is absolutely sublime.

Anyway, for 2 channel music no other receiver comes close to the Arcam, except maybe the Yamaha A8A, otherwise, I love them all…
@@bigcdubI’m with you. By far! I’ve had the Yamaha a6, anthem avm60, anthem mrx different models, marantz different models, nad t778 which I still have, and the arcam/Audiocontrol are by far better sounding. The only one that it was on par was the anthem D2 3d but no 4k. The other great one is the Audiocontrol M5 which I also still have and I rotate with arcam avr30. Where it shines is the clarity of the dialogue when watching movies, the dynamics and the bass. Then again it can always be the speakers your driving. I’m driving a pair of Dynaudios confidence C2 with a klipch kl-650 center and dual paradigm Sub 1 with an anthem statement a5
@@Laissez_Faire Nice setup, I think it’s just the rich sound signature of the Arcam that trumps everything, and I’m not saying that the others don’t have that richness and clarity, but they just don’t do it as well as Arcam, I watch movies all the time, switching out receivers every two months in rotation, and I can easily tell the difference. Now, speakers respond differently to different receivers, so someone else might have a different experience with different equipment with the Arcam, I can only give feedback from what I use…
The new flagship Marantz Cinema 30 + Dirac full license beats them all in terms of both build and sound quality.
I really liked the Cinema 30. -Jon
