It is common that minor projects around the house end up becoming a major frustration. I have experienced that many times so I commiserate on your hanging rod difficulty. My wife and I are planning on adding two shelves in a corner of our living room. When I do that I will add blocking inside the wall (not visible) to make sure I can attach them in a strong and secure manner to support the weight. Thanks for the visit to your beautiful home.
Hi! Loving this makeover! On the white Chilistran IKEA hanging planter, having a pot sticking out a wee bit is a good thing because the metal is fairly sharp and can cause stress if the plant is a trailer. I tuck in a bit of paper towel to protect heavy branches on mine and it helps. Btw, lots of IKEA planty things can be shipped 😊
I enjoy videos such as this❤ I dislike hanging stuff sometimes too. I'm so short, have bad knees, and live alone so there's no one to help, but it's okay. Living Alone Is Great 👍. I like your plant 🌿 leaf mat. Hi Chai🤗
I love your videos, and I love, love seeing Chai and Luna. I find myself telling them hello, when they pop up on camera. I enjoy watching you stop what you are doing and give them the attention they deserve.💚
I’d definitely recommend to put the middle one directly on the curtain rod, the s hook makes me nervous for stability and I also think it would look good higher in the middle! I’d definitely leave the shelves off because the black/wood clashes with the white rod and pots. If rod was black, it would go much better.
I love the Ikea white planter. That pole i wouldn’t have chosen that one. It looks very industrial and pipe looking. I usually like using those extendable poles similar to the curtain nets between the windows. Or a wooden pole with the brackets on both sides. For hanging plants. I don’t like drilling and damaging the walls if is not permanent place. Even though you can fill the holes again and repaint sometimes you can still see it. New plants i like to isolate them for a few days with pest prevention then i repot them the soil is usually not pleasant and prefer my own soil mix the ones i purchase online. In garden centre and nurseries i usually pot straight away the soil is very yucky and mouldy and sometimes very wet aswell.
Oh I also got the coco chips on a block but break them from it when it’s dry so it’s more chunky, instead of making it wet as advised. Bought the smaller ones this time though
Love the ikea hanging pot. It looks great. Now I need some. ha! Gotta get some, and those above window bars... omg. im on hunt for those now. :) Love the vids! 💚 Thanks Melissa!!
They look absolutely lovely Melissa. And I agree with you, the middle planter looks so much nicer. I might get me some of them cos I really like the open top rather than the macrame with the 3/4 strings that sometimes rip leaves etc. Looking good 😊
Your cats are so well behaved around your plants. I have a Scottish fold who weighs about 22 pounds and I have some plants shut up in a bedroom the others hanging. He will eat plants like a piranha 😂😂😂
😂😂 aww Scottish folds are such beautiful cats! Chai is my only trouble maker with plants. He’s eaten some in the past so I keep them shut out of my plant room now unless I am in here. He gets curious! 👀
"I seriously want to say so many f bombs right now" 😅😅 this is me when projects take a turn but theres no filter. great video i bought a curved shower rod when you mentioned it in a previous video i had never thought of that and it was pretty cheap cant wait to have the experience of putting it up 😂
Great job Melissa 👏 🪴👏. The middle hanger definitely adds a different flair. Girlfriend, you did well (not that you need me to confirm that, but fingers snaps to you🎉🎉🎉😊).
I adore Hoyas ❤ I would love for You to do a Hoya update !!!! I agree with You that the middle planter is beautiful. I didn’t think I would like it but I love it. Once again You outdid yourself ❤❤🪴🪴
Hi Melissa, the 'Bilobata' you have is actually another sp. aff. Burtoniae, a true Bilobata has smaller leaves of a rounder shape and they're not fuzzy like the Burtoniae.
Very pretty! Love the pots! I don't do Amazon so probably would have gone to Home Depot and bought a white pipe and brackets to put up for heavy hanging plants!! I'm sure that one will hold up well for you!! Well done, Melissa!!❤🪴👏🌿👍
Dear Melissa, maybe your kitties come close to you when they see you ‘ Soil snuggling ‘ plants ❤ Thank you for taking us with you as you did the project. Interesting and lovely.
I have the same bar on my wall to hold my plants. I couldn’t find my husband’s power tools when I was getting it hung up so I did all of that by hand! It was a pain in the butt and quite the arm workout! I definitely damaged the wall and on one side, only got 3 screws in. But, I really liked how it turned out so I hope you like yours! 6:20
Good job. 4 screws each side into studs should hold. It looks great!! I finally found a lacunosa, 2 Wayettis and 2 bilobatas and a large leaf princess. Now need the burtonia and Lowes has a new Hoya in a small pot I’m looking for. Installed 2 barrina grow lights in my ceiling. Man was that hard. I couldn’t get the holes right on where I exactly wanted them but close. Have 4 more to go. Also installing plant holders into the walls so that should be easier
@@plantsbymelissa my hubby used to do those things for me. If I wait till June one of my daughters who visits will do it but I want it done sooner. Lol. Btw my girls are your age so it’s harder for me to do things like that now. But I enjoy my plants and all you TH-camrs who share your experiences Thank you
I know this is a bit too late and I don’t want to cause further frustration, but you may want to know for a future window display or let your followers know. In your IKEA haul video, the tag on the rings that the hanging planters hang from, says UTRUSTA.
I’ve only used it twice now but I feel like it helped my adansonii. It’s sorta replacing the tiny bottle of superthrive. I used superthrive for years (not foliage pro) and loved it for any repotting to reduce stress. All the Hoyas look amazing and it’s been a week since filming! So definitely going to use it more!
This perlite brand is by Mother Earth on amazon. This is size 4. I don't love it though because it stains easily lol but it's a HUGE bag so it will last you a long time. Yes show us your Hoyas!! Update time
So many need a repot! I just need to sit down and do it. I might have bought some new one recently too hehe 🤪
@@plantsbymelissa repotting I enjoy. What new Hoya did you find and where?

It looks awesome 👍 I like the different heights...yes, of course, I always enjoy your videos 💕📸😁
Than you Dora! 🤗
I like those plant shelves you took down. Very cute.

They look great hanging there! 💚💚💚
I have that bar, too, and it was a pain to set up. Glad it was not just me. Love Hoyas!

Thank you Connie! I really like the look of that one too! I wished it came in a bigger size though 🤗
Wow that looks sooo good! It was all worth it! Great job!

I loved this video.
I think the middle planter I s the cutest but I like the ease of how you hit the other two together and hung. And no tying nots. It’s all even.
Awesome repotting & new plant placement. Thanks for sharing Melissa!
Bonide systemic granules takes care of mealies, I think thrips and scale?
Greenhouses use it.
It looks so great!!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
That window is stinking cute. I like the shelves that you took off the wall.
Fab! I did a similar thing but used a saucepan/pot hanging thingy as a window bracket for hanging plants from, I found hanging that hard too.
I really like the middle pot. I watched when you were at ikea and I was hoping you got one
I'm so happy I got one! I wished the size came a little bigger though but it's so pretty!
Wow, Melissa, I'm impressed! You can do it all!! Hanging the bar, patching, painting, AND repotting! If you're ever in California let me know LOL
haha thank you! I would love to come to California again! We love it there 🫶 one day!
@plantsbymelissa I would be so thrilled to show you my little plant room!! Have a wonderful weekend Melissa

Sooo cute!! Obsessed 😍 I love them all and it flows so well together! Another great video ❤

Thank you so much!! 🤗
How cute!
thank you!! I love the ikea hangers the most! 🥰
Love it. ❤. Super cute 😍 👍
Thank you! 🤗
which pothos and/or philadendron do best as trailers as opposed to climbing up a pole for the larger leaf growth? the hoyas look great, btw...
Chai stole the show. Just saying. 😻
get some paintable caulk to fill in the holes in that mounting plate.
oh good idea! Thank you!!
You’re very welcome Melissa.😁

Fern gave you a shout out on her recently posted video.👍💙🤗🌊😁
aw that's so nice of her 🥹 I haven't seen her new video I'll have to check it out.
Can you take you longer by and just wrap it around a multiple and it will grow?
I hate those kind of anchors. I use the self-drilling drywall anchors
Does the soil enhancer smell attract the cats?
how are you liking the marphyl? i was thinking of getting some but it's kinda pricey but I've been hearing good things about it.

I love you❤
What was the stuff that you put in the pot while repotting??🤔
💚💚💚
🥰🫶
Do you rotate your Hoyas when you take them down to water every 6 weeks?
I usually do yes! The side facing the window gets more sun stressing so I try to rotate them a bit 🥰
where do you get your perlite ? i have a hard time finding the big ones lol
