Thank you for adopting her. She is so pretty. I love the red & white. Our Lucy is a long haired Basset. I can’t remember, but I think 1/1,000. I have had 2 vets & neither has ever seen a long haired Basset. Both of my Bassets have been rescues.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT, only people who have had Bassets understand how great this is.... and who are the monsters giving videos like this a thumbs down????
Your fault, when my basset did not obey I ignored him totally, got food and water, but I did not touch him and just spoke the absolute minimum, after one week situation chanched.
Literally the best. Would you be willing to back that up? I don't know if you've seen Dean but I believe he would offer some pretty good competition. Anywho, I would be willing to shell out bucks to see a contest on pay per view.
Our basset mastered sleeping, napping, eating, and napping. 😂 J/k. She could catch treats very well and was an excellent guard dog. Nobody came to our front door or up our driveway without the Barkatron 5000 going off. She was mostly sweet and goofy although she barely tolerated our beagles and would occasionally bite the shit out of them - naughty! 🤬 She went to Doggy Heaven in 2015 and we still miss her silly antics. RIP Miss Droopy. 🥹
good job with the tricks, especially the stay with food on the ground. it too me years to train mine to do that, and he cried until i let him go for it.
Bassett’s and all dogs are a gift from God. They prove God exists and that God is loving and merciful. May we all see our dogs and cats again when we die.
Such pretty, healthy eyes! Lovely to see a Basset Hound like that! And thank you for writing out the "hound" part of the breed name! We have one of the other Basset breeds (Grand Basset Griffon Vendeén) and it gets tiring to explain to people "yes she is a Basset, just not a Basset Hound".
I have two senior basset hounds, you know the saying you can’t teach an old dog tricks? Well… Yeah no they just like food and you can’t make them do anything
Or any dog.We have 2 And one sheds hair like crazy.I am constantly cleaning her brush, washing sheets/ blankets to get all that hair off ,for a few minutes at least. That is what it seems like.
Same colors like our Gracie. She would catch a ball she's getting old now but she stsrted throwing the ball by swinging her head and letting go it got a little dangerous.
Hi! Currently doing some research for my upcoming pet dog and would like to ask some questions: 1. When the dog has done the trick, do you give food/snacks afterwards? 2. The poin of the question before is that some references are highlighting the level of stubbornness of the BH. What do you think? How hard is it to train them to consistently appreciate your commands? 3. Do you think it's hard to get to a level where you can train them to do tricks without having to give them food treats? (Discipline and obey) Thank you! :)
Thanksgiving Former BH owner here: 1) yesssss!!! 2) they have a reputation of being the hardest to train and from my experience that is correct. Start young! And with patience, snacks and lots of love. 3) that would take commitment. Many BHs I’ve seen did not get that far. And they LOOOOOOVE food. The stay-command would have been impossible with our girl. But then again they do love their owners and if it’s not too far from their interest, they might want to obey. The Bassets‘ stubbornness however is legendary. They make up for that with their loyal attachment, quirkinesses, expressive mimics and body language etc. Just know that 1) if the Basset needs to sniff sth. out, that’s what he needs to do. He is said to have the finest nose of all dogs and sniffing everywhere on walks is basically his social media and news. 2) if the Basset does not want to continue his walk he might just drop then and there and will not be moved. Don’t say I did not warn you 😉 3) I don’t think people keep in mind enough that Bassets were bred for looong hunts. They used to chase down fleeing boar etc. to exhaustion. The media often portray Bassets as laid back, lazy, calm etc. Even though they appreciate their naps, especially in youth they can be lively and full of stamina. Our girl could keep at hunting games with me through our garden for hours. And the more exercise they get the better. A Basset can run for miles every day (if not distracted by sniffing or dropping incidents 😉). If a young Basset sets off chasing after a hare or so ... good luck waiting for his or her return. But those Bassets that move a lot stay toned and die much older than the couch potatoes. Let us know for what breed you went 🐶
Anyone with a basset knows this is phenomenal 😂😂😂
Definitely 😂
Pretty darn good for a Basset Hound.
I’d say so too! 💞
I’ve had 2 Bassets. I adore them. You’ve done a good job training your Basset. Our 2 basically took no instruction. 🐶😂
When we adopted her, her previous owner had taken her to some very expensive training. She’s super smart!
I love the way she waddles...so much!!😍
She’s a huge waddler!
Got my first basset a few days ago, I’ve wanted one forever!! They are truly the derpiest dog I’ve ever met, but so sweet and chill
Adorable e inteligente Bassed Hound. Lo más Chistoso cuando está en reposo..jjjjj....jjjjjjj...😃👍🇪🇨
You have a remarkably well-trained basset hound.
That is a gorgeous Basset Hound!
Love the tell-tale basset hound dust bunnies! Your vacuum cleaner is your (second)best friend when you have a basset
Lol I couldn't even train mine, he was training me. I miss that boy but this video made me happy.
Have had Bassets all my life!! The greatwst dogs EVER!!!
Bless her droopy heart.
Basset hounds are so cute!
That's a lot of work to do all those tricks. Especially chasing the bad throws! I'm not surprised she had to nap afterwards. LOL LOL

A long haired basset!? Wow! I think finding a basset to adopt is suuuch a lucky find. They’re such sweethearts!
Is she maybe a Basset Griffon Vondeen?
I have a long haired Basset. He is half Griffon, half European.
She’s a doll!
Dempsey was incredible!! She is definitely easy to train and she can certainly follow your Commands!! WTG 🐾❤🐾
Dempsey is such a sweet puppy.

Oh, what a pretty, GOOD girl! Fabulous tricks!
I found the sweetest basset hound around!
plev10 you sure did!
What a GOOD Girl Dempsey!!!
I call that basset brilliance! My boy passed, but I always told him he encompassed Basset Brilliance!
The only trick my Angus can do is make a sandwich disappear lol
Beautiful video and editing. Dempsey is a cuttie. 🐕💝. Thanks to her owners for taking care so much of her.
What a sweet baby Dempsey. Luv u.
She’s the best ❤️
What cute dog! She's precious.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT, only people who have had Bassets understand how great this is.... and who are the monsters giving videos like this a thumbs down????
Insecure mofos who need suck-up dogs to feed their egos. Bassets don't play like that. 😂
Awesome!!! What a great Dog! So cute...
We lucked out! 💞
My basset only knows Sit and Down but when we're on the street, she is disobedient and does what she wants. She only obeys at home 😐😂
Yeah... Dempsey is very deaf outdoors surrounded by smells 😂
Your fault, when my basset did not obey I ignored him totally, got food and water, but I did not touch him and just spoke the absolute minimum, after one week situation chanched.
@@nicolaushess8816 well you might be partly right, but breed also has a lot to do with how dog behaves
Bassets are truly the best dogs.
Very cute. She's such a good girl. 😍
OMG BASSETS R THE BEST !!!!! THEY ROCK🐾🐶💕
Basset houses all have tufts of fur floating around everywhere.
Honestly so cute!
Dempsey is so cute!! I want an orange and white basset so bad!

What an amazing hound!
She’s literally the best 💞

She is adorable. I love when she wags her tail. 💕
Every basset hound knows how to hide the eyes with own eye mask, their long ears!
What a lovely pup I’d love to have one just like this

Gosh darnit, now I want a Basset hound.
If only I saw your video before. I only taught ours to stay, shake paw, and sit. That’s as creative as I could get.

Mine does all of those and imitations too. She can imitate an arm rest, a foot warmer and a teddy bear.
TEN TRICKS!!! I’m officially impressed. My two are lazy bums 😂👍👍👍
Actually the dog is probably trained to not catch the kibble because it knows the more it drops the more you keep throwing it more kibble.
What a peach!
Dempsey is Gorgeous.
i adore bassets
good job with the tricks, especially the stay with food on the ground. it too me years to train mine to do that, and he cried until i let him go for it.
Catch the kibble is the best.
Gets the kibble even if she misses.

Los amo 😍🥰❤❤❤

I have a Basset Hound too
She's a good girl
I can do catch the kibble with my basset, she’s pretty stubborn and I’m trying to teach her how to lay down or high five.
Double WOW ...this video wasn't power washed ...sorry photo shopped was it ...this is the real thing
(Looks at my lazy spoiled Basset) “Bru, get with the program!)
