How to build your own mini radar

- Greetings. For this week’s DIY project, we will walk you through the process of building your very own homemade radar. It might seem overwhelming at first, how to even begin building a radar, right? But don’t be bamboozled by how complex such a mini radar appears.
Provided you use a little caution on what goes where, you will complete this small radar in no time! So, let’s begin. First of all, you will need a 3D printer and a soldering kit for this DIY radar project to come to life. If you don’t have these, consider purchasing (best outcome for your future projects) or renting/borrowing them. Apart from that, as always, the links to the code and templates are below.
To make a radar for yourself, you will need batteries, ultrasonic sensors, and something to make the sensors move so they scan through the environment. A simple servo motor will suffice for the latter part.
To feed you the information gathered, a 1.8″ TFT display will be necessary. And finally, an Arduino Nano will keep everything working together and store the software necessary. So can you make your own radar? The answer is yes, definitely.
We may not be the generation to colonize other planets, but still, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy today's tech revolution to the fullest.

A radar uses radiowaves and a sonar uses sound. "How to build your own mini sonar"would be more precise.
Yeah, but then it wouldn't be 'dont worry about learning anything about the technology, pfft who wants to do that?! Nerds, thats who! You dont want to actually BE a lame nerd, simply look like one to fill out those geek chic check boxes. Just plug this into that, run this code with little to no explanation, dont worry I totally didn't add anything that could possibly turn your RPi into a piece of my bot net (even if they did how would you know if you just run code and refuse to learn it....or worse just keep annoying asking for someone to do it for you? Yes Im talking to that certain group of people on every tutorial comment section begging to have their hand held and by that I mean "do it for me for free so I can show it off and pretend its mine" ...you know exactly who I mean). Or even better, screw whatever else you're doing with your RPi, here is an ISO to flash to the sd card with absolutely no description of whag went into making it work! Now pat my back and give me upvotes!' clickbait instructables fodder.....
Yes, I am indeed salty at how far the maker world has fallen. It ridiculous. At least by using the wrong terminology the 'i dont know anything beyond plug it in and download code' types are easier to spot..... Unfortunately it also means the true diamonds in the rough that wish to learn all they can about STEM will come off like the 'that sounds hard, cant I just download your code? ' type of people.....
This is not RADAR, it's RADDAR.
This device gets it's distance and ranging using it's totally radness.
That was not funny at all, I know 🙄
Dad-joke champion right here! 🤣
@@nathanpeterson1783 as a younger kid, it was still really funny! :D
Why does there always have to be that 1 asshat know-it-all in every f*cking comment section! FFS it's not like you're directing air traffic with the damn thing!
Yeah and ear shattering
do not think sonar isn’t loud
Actually sonar. Looks like many parts can be adapted especially the code.
it is a sonar not radar.
How can i connect this to my 8,8 cm flack?
How far does this broadcast?
Nice work 👍🎉😊
Love it!
Where do you get the materials!?
is there any way to increase the range of the ultra sonic sensor?
Yes. Use radio waves instead lol
Amplify the signal
@@thatguyfromca how do i make it better?
Yeah just look up radio antenna designs and do that
RANGE?
Pretty cool but not a radar
Awesome
Where you bought the parts from
This would be sonst not radar, non the less very cool
Where do u get the wiring panels and the welding tool
It's a soldering iron.
What about range ?
5 feet
Owesome
what is lidrary we linstall from arduino softwear
What's the music your using?
Super i like this one
Good
Can it detect birds outside?
what şs the range
Can we write code for this ?
how do you increase the distance of the object tracking to reach LEO?
you have to code it, appearently he didnt code it and it "magically" coded itself
anti-satelite missile sold separately
struggling to find the PCB, anyone able to help?
whats the possibilities of making one good for up to 20 foot range?
Use a good ultrasonic sensor
This is so cool
What servo is used? Most servos will not run powered by a PP3 battery.
Great easy to find someone in hide in seek
Hardly radar, is it ?
Wow😳❤️🔥
Range ?
components name??
What should I call this?
A SONAR or Radar?
Radar, sonar is underwater
sonar, because it uses sound
@@cryobeam554 that sensor is an ultrasonic sensor, so it's a Sonar. Sonar's can be both inside of and above water, doesn't matter.
what is your code
What’s the difference between radar and sonar?
RADAR uses radio waves and SONAR uses sound waves
@@parkermonette5397 thank you
Want to buy!
is it possible to make it without a custom PCB, or just a PCB
like, can you just wire it up to the nano boad
Possible, there are many other videos on same topic go and search, you'll find.
What’s the cost for you to build one for Me?.
Looks like a sonar to me
it's not a radar: no radio waves, you know that right?
That is a sonar.
How to make radar like aircraft's radar
🤨📸
👌👌👌👌
Would like to track cop drones 👀
Guys isnt it a bit complex?
This is not very helpful for me to make a radar😢

RAdio Direction And Ranging - RADAR. You are using ultrasonics to range a sonically reflective object. This is SOnic Navigation And Ranging - SONAR. Or more precise SOnic Direction And Ranging - SODAR.
Especially when using acronyms, the names for things are not colloquial, you cannot interchange them. Using the incorrect terminology is frowned upon in the STEM fields and you should feel bad. Shame on you.
radar uses radio, this is not radio
Not radar
not radar
BOOOOOO YOU JUST REUPLOADING SOMEONE VIDS
Doesn’t show distance. Useless
Another crap "radar" vid.
