Just FYI, people allergic to nuts can't just take them off. The oil left from the nuts, or even small bits left, could cause a terrible allergic reaction. But, I love this cake. Aunt Eulee makes them in SC, only one I've ever had. That icing is delicious!
Can I add cocoa powder to the batter to make a chocolate cake? Mrs. Val, I noticed that you are using a metal spoon to get the icing out of the pan, please be careful with doing that you never know if you will get a piece of metal in your product. As I have recently retired from a kitchen my boss stayed on me about using metal on metal, so now I use a rubber spatula. Not trying to be mean with saying this, but out of respect for you.
