Well, the fathers in law and mothers in law have HIGH EXPECTATION that son in law would have enough wealth to bring happiness to their dear daughters as well as the future grandchildren. Therefore, the Bride Price Payments in wads of cash along with gold necklaces with high purity are the EXPECTED OBLIGATION to fulfill at all cost. No question asked other than the fare and square deals.
Nationalism and Royalism are the deep mindsets of Thai people ... with a few exception for those who advocate Republican regime after Communist regime have failed to topple Thai monarchy who bring the victory over Communism by Fighting against Poverty. This should be a clear reason behind NOT stepping on the cash.

Omg, as a Thai person, you’re so correct on the shower/bathing habits. I thought it was normal to take showers 2-3 times a day. The nighttime shower is the most important of all. I literally will not touch my bed if I haven’t showered. Also, drying your hair is so important bc elders believe you’ll catch a cold or grow mold on your scalp lmao. It’s not true but that’s how the older generations were taught. I also love how you touched upon the herbal inhalers. They are truly our life source lol. As for the National anthem and the money thing, I really hope Thai culture can fade that out because nationalism isn’t cute

    • @HansManikan
      @HansManikan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

I’m not really pointing out on taking a shower 2-3 times a day here. But talking about wet hair. In my country most people washed their hair in the morning and leave the house with a wet hair.
Loved your comment tho i really appreciate 🙏🏻😊

In the Philippines there is a term called *"pasma"* which refers to the unhealthy consequences of mixing warm and cold. So for example after doing your exercise you are hot so you should get back to a normal temperature first before taking a cooling shower as the difference in temperature is believed to have negative effects. This is just one of those traditional believes though. HOWEVER, my mom would say I would "pasma" if I go out with wet hair when it is hot as the cold wet hair and the hot sun is not a good combo. And with my curly hair I wouldn't anyway lmao. My mom would also get mad if I slept with wet hair or went out with wet hair in the cold... AND SHE WAS RIGHT cause I got HELLA headaches...
Where I originally come from in the northern island (Luzon) I was also taught to shower at least twice a day, and would get dissapointed and angry looks from my aunties if I failed to do so, which was a culture shock as here in Europe where it is cold, some people don't bother. My relatives also grew up putting baby powder everywhere to ease the sticky sweaty feeling, which was again, I never thought of that cause here it is usually cold af.
My point is that I think it depends on how you are brought up. Though yes, people rather be on time with damp hair than be late with dry hair in the Philippines, cause traffic is enough of a reason to be late T-T
Also the mold thing is kind of true. There is fungus on our scalp which feed on our oils and the more oil you have to more they grow and cause flakes. Fungus like moist places and so when you provide them with moisture and hair oils they will PARTY!

I'm not sure how many people speak chavacano in Ciudad de zamboanga but I think it is close to 1 million only where the total population of the Philippines is about 110 million..so I think it's not even 1% who speak chavacano..but close to 1%. I experience watching a last full show before in cinema they played the national anthem and all the viewers stand up and put their right hand on their left chest. I watched some of your clips, your Thai pronunciation is spot on, very impressive.
Sin sod in English is bride price, not dowry. Dowry is what girls pay to marry boys, some families in South Asia still practice this. The bride price where boys pay to marry girls is more common in mainland Southeast Asia. in the old day, it was exactly what you explained, to show that the guy can look after the future wife.
Parents would, later on, give that money back to the newlywed for them to set up a new family. So, it's not like they sell their daughter.
Nowadays? Well, there are families that keep the money out of greed or need, and there are those who just don't care. Most of the new generation will just move in and live together, no money needed. Well, just help each other to pay rent, I guess :)

    1. Yung ginagamit talaga nila yung river system nila for transportation. Parang kanal/estero nga yata yung dinaanan ng bangkang sinakyan ko eh hahaha medyo maamoy kasi at itim yung tubig. 😂 Magandang tularan for Pasig River. Unti palang yata nabyahe sa pasig.
    2. Yung mga tv show nila. TH-cam link or channel yung nakalagay haha sa Pilipinas kasi hashtag for twitter usually sa kanila youtube 🤣.
    3. At isa pa, kung gimikero ka. Napakadaming lady boy, totoo. Sa Pilipinas di naman usual na sight yun. Sa thailand napakarami, lakad lakad ka lalo na sa khao san. Halos lady boy nga yata ang mga GRO nila sa bar hahahahaha. 🤣 Marami ring clinic doon for plastic surgery. Maraming advertisements na nakapaskil.
    4. Pag takeout sa fastfood or restaurant. Takeaway ang term nila. Nung unang punta ko doon yearssss ago narin. Sabi ako ng sabi for takeout. Di pala nila magets. Takeaway kasi sa kanila. Normal naman to guys british version kasi yun. American english kasi sa Pinas. Baka lang naman lalo na sa first time magtravel. (Same din to sa SG, MY or british former territory) marami kasi yatang british na turista lol
Pero please be respectful always at accepting sa culture. Eat like local para ma experience nyo talaga yung bansa nila. Yun lungs!
