@@gogranlund I had a bad experience with that years ago.I smiled at someone walking by.cause I was watching the street cause it was part of my job. But to be honest I think it really depends on we’re you are.places like Weymouth and other country sides of England people are really friendly and they smile back at you. One lady from Yorkshire told me she said hi Goodmorning to one person in Bristol and they gave her a dirty look 👀 😂..cause she told me it’s different in Yorkshire, people are friendly over there And they don’t take shit either.
Dito rin naman sa states. Kaso minsan nakakapagod. Gusto ko lang mawala sa thought ko. Sometimes I pretend that i didn't see them. Haha. Though of course, if they say hi first, i am happy to say hi back.
This is true, especially the “eating your own food” part. Many years my ago wife and I dined with a couple of British friends in London before watching a West End play. We went to an Italian restaurant and when the order came, we were expecting that we will all share all with the food. Turns out each one ordered for his or herself.
After the pandemic, you guys should attend or organize a Jollibee party! My British friends say it's quite an experience for them to dance and play the games in these Jollibee parties that we organize whenever they visit us 🙂
We Filipino more relax in our daily lives. I live in the USA, I never changed the way I am. Lots of my co-workers asking why you're always happy. Sometimes I forgot I'm at work that I starts humming while doing my jobs. I told my coworkers that my brain sings all the time, Thank you for your vblogs.
I missed all those stuff you both mentions, now that you both live there just enjoy it. But onething I am still doing here in the UK is eating rice in the morning😂. My children also loves eating rice. We save a bit as we don't buy cereals anymore. Also, mentioning the sun 🌞 very true.
yeah in other country they practice "CLEAN AS YOU GO" especially in restaurants which is I think better than just leaving your trash (its just that other people are not really considerate) 🙄
If we practice that, lots of waiters will lose their job since they may not be needed anymore. Maybe if the store is very full. Lots of people need employment here
I live in England and totally relate with your topic here , I am a Filipino. Good luck to 500k subscribers and you both deserve it❤️❤️❤️ i love LUCY she is so pretty
This is funny. I remember when I went to the US and did my grocery and I was waiting for someone to place them in the bag, that was shocking for me. Also, my very first time I checked in a hotel and nobody assisted me to bring my luggage to my room, that was crazy and I asked if there was anyone who can assist me and the receptionist said you can use the trolley back there (WTF) hahaha. I just landed from Jakarta and stayed in a 5-star hotel and there are bell boys to assist you to carry the luggage. I thought why does Pinoy want to go live in the US? And these were just a few things I laugh at now when I look back. Why live in the US when you can be in Asia and have maids ( that is if you can afford it and find one) This video is so true, the different things we do in our own country and the places we choose to live.
Pinoys go to the US for economic reasons. There are simply limited jobs that pay high salary in the Philippines. As the wages in the Philippines keep increasing, more pinoys would prefer to stay in the Philippines.
I laughed through this because it's so relevant! I keep walking to the shade on the 1 day out of 30 it's sunny back here in Britain... who needs Vitamin D! Oh.. but I always drank my tea in the Philippines... but never with milk there...
I remember when my husband just arrived here in the uk we went to a supermarket and while queueing up in the counter next to a lady, my husband help packing her groceries in the bag. I was so embarassed because people here are not use to that kind of gesture amd might think its more offending than you think you’d help. So after that incident i told my hubby not to do it again as we’re not in the Phils anymore.
The packing of goods in groceries is actually convenient for stores because it will help ease queues. So it's a 3-way win win situation (the store, the bagger and the buyer).
I laughed when you said about singing and dancing in public because when I first arrived in England and the few years after my manager would sometimes tell me, "Ester, your leaking" because I didn't realise that I was humming or singing. I found it difficult and saddening that there are no music blaring in offices, public transport and anywhere else. That's why I only know very few songs from the 90s up to present but recently discovered Wish 107.5 and started listening to songs again more regularly. I must say, there had been times when music comes on in some public establishments here in England and my children would get embarrassed when I suddenly would sing and dance to the music. They tell me "mum, stop it. You're weird"
That’s one thing I never liked in the Philippines. I’m Pinoy who has lived in the states for 20+ years and if there’s one thing I cannot stand in the Philippines growing up there was the persistent music everywhere. I love music. I come from a very musical family with family members playing guitar, piano and the violin. I am also an audiophile but the Philippines takes it to an extreme level. A popular Japanese vlogger pointed this out on his vlog, too. But it’s just that there’s too much music everywhere, all day and all night, as if people seem to be afraid of quietness, of being still or being alone with ones thoughts.
@@denniszenanywhere I know where you're coming from. Here you can't really play loud music or noise for that matter. If you have a party at home and have to play music or make noise, it has to be to an acceptable decibels, otherwise your neighbours will take you up to the council. As a matter of rule and courtesy, you can't be noisy past 10pm. I got used to quiet surroundings and have become a light sleeper so any sound can wake me up or keep me awake. That's why whenever I visit the Philippines I prefer to stay where it is more quiet at night.
@@steepyt just because it's a happy place is no excuse to go to extreme level. People need to respect other people's right to some quiet/silence especially in late evenings when people need to sleep so they can get up early for work, etc.
@@esterphillips9497 That's good to know, because last time I was there years ago, there was karaoke singing non-stop until 2 am on an almost daily basis.

This is so true and I experienced those habits when I was sent by my company before to work in Glasgow way back 2014 and that’s 8 months away from my family from April to November. The sandwich and toast is very common during lunch and I love Greggs. The Indian food besides the Frasers Suites Glasgow is my go to place if I want to eat rice and curry, and lastly the one I adjusted the most is when I buy groceries at tesco and marks, I need to pack my own groceries and it’s weird at first but i’m kinda used to it after a month and I even bring my own bag for my groceries. I miss UK and most specially Glasgow. I will surely go back with my family soon 😀 I love how you summarized it and made me think all of it are true.. I remember and this is not in your list is that when you go to pubs to drink with officemates, you just need to order beers and no food at all, only beers and this is after office at 4pm every Friday 😀
The Philippines is literally in the Equator so the sun is the hottest here (and in other countries in the Equator) compared to England. EDIT: I stand corrected. The Philippines is north of the equator. Idk which latitude it is closer cause there are different kinds of maps I see on the internet with varrying accuracy of locations between lines. I think we're closer to the equator more than the Tropic of Capricorn. But anyway, it's still hotter here than in the UK.
Hi. I’m based in Birmingham UK now. Originally from the Philippines. I’m glad you are enjoying life there. Been watching you guys. Keep entertaining and educating us. Well done. Cheers 😊
The Brits were so courteous and helpful when I was in London as a tourist. I really liked the english taffy which I bought from a giftshop near the stonehenge. I enjoyed the fish and chips too.
I don't see why people thumb down with such a sweet beautiful couple that brightens your day. and George and Lucy, Filipino's do love Bread for breakfast, hope you can try that and find a bakery around the side streets and buy the Pandesal (Spanish origin name) but Filipino original, hope you can blog about it.
Thanks for showing your love to my country Philippines. And I really appreciate that you live in this exotic and paradise- like country-- Philippines....we love all your video. You guys are great and owing couple More power to both of you. Stay safe

Nice to know that you chose Philippines to be your second home. You’re such a cute and loving couple. Enjoy our country ( which is your country now ) and God bless🙏🏻
Lucy's top has tricked my eyes on several videos now. I just realized that it's not a sheer pink see-through fabric. It's actually a solid pastel pink shirt. Ha! 😂

Very true! You both are becoming more and more relaxed really, especially Lucy! And that makes your videos awesomely entertaining! And also insightful too.
For me it’s the other way around.I’m a Filipino who moved here in UK. I remember one time when I first arrived. I open the door and did not hold it for the next person and it slammed in his face. He was so not impressed at me but I did not know that it’s a thing here in UK . I’m used to some security guard or a staff designated at the door to open it for a customer like me. And the toast haha, I used to eat breakfast with rice now I’m more to eating toast or sandwiches. One weird food that I couldn’t understand that my mate love is the Chip Butty have you guys tried that?
Oh god! That's exactly the same door experience that I had here first in the US! I lived in the Philippines then Japan for the longest time, then we moved to the US. Apparently here, it's just considered good manners to hold the door for the person coming after you, too....
Number five is real smart, guys. Knowing places where to get specific stuff that's quality is quite practical genius. That is laudable. You eliminate the unwanted situation of obtaining wrong or substandard products and enjoy good stuff. That's high IQ, guys. You know what you can do too? Tell Mike and Nelly where to get what so they'd also enjoy the ease of knowing where to get whatever. But you know what I generally think about the changes that you say are happening to you? One word: "Filipinized". You guys are turning into one of us! And by the way, Lucy, you don't need to be tan. Your skin color is fine. A Disney princess has to have a pinkish complexion so don't fight it. You should know this already being here for so long: Filipinos generally don't care too much for skin color. That's because we're a diverse race and that means we sport different shades of skin. And what's important to us is the attitude of people. Kindness and cheerfulness, as you know, begets the same. You even greet kids on the street. So you're very welcome in the country. Stay and stay as you are. Everybody loves you. You like our scenic spots, our food, and the people as a whole. So why would we drive you away? Haven't heard you make comments that sound like what Hollywood actress Claire Danes did long ago after visiting Manila (making herself a "persona non grata" here) so there's no reason to dislike you. You guys have won our hearts. You are both cool.
@The Juicy Vlog - *I have something to add. Number 11: Pumping your own petrol/gas into your automobile. Here in the Philippines you get full service. They even wipe your windshield for you and/or even check your oil gauge or put water into your radiator while petrol/gas is being pumped in your car.*
Philippines is near the equator so the heat of the sun is different compared to England so avoiding the sun is a must here and it can cause harm to your skin for too much sun.
I remember being in Wales in2006 and I went to the grocery to buy a lotion. And I saw all orange bottles. All are tanning lotion! Hahahaha I was with my colleague and I asked where are the normal lotions? He said he has the same reaction when he went to Manila and saw all skin lightening lotion 😂

Hi guys, how about crossing the street/pedestrian crossing. I would assume when you were in England, before you cross the street, you would look over on your right side for any coming vehicles whereas in the Philippines it would be the opposite, right?
Here in england, vehicles stops when there is a pedestrian..most pedestrians here have stop lights...doesnt bother to look left or right coz drivers here are so disciplined..di gaya sa pinas, kahit nasa pedestrian ka,mas iisipin nila na dumiretso kesa padaanin ung tao hehbehe
Very true and I agree especially when the weather changes from September, my winter clothes are out, plus jackets scarves boots nylons gloves etc As for sandwiches, generally speaking, they are considered snack food, not proper food. 905% of Filipinos would rather cook and have hot meals. Filipinos love Hot meals, especially soup. In Cumbria, England they are more into cold cuts tea ten times a day or more and more sandwiches at night.
Over-all life is more pampered in Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤ Eating rice 🍚 for breakfast is pretty common.Using umbrella to shield yourself from the sun .while in England 🇬🇧 you use because it's always raining. There was sunshine and suddenly it will drizzle any time of the day.

Or think you were either crazy or flirting if you smile at a stranger in the street. It’s pretty natural for us to do that.
@@gogranlund I had a bad experience with that years ago.I smiled at someone walking by.cause I was watching the street cause it was part of my job.
And he said what are you smiling at batty boy 😂 I didn’t understand what he was saying at first cause it was my first time in England.
So grateful for you both guys being attentive & sensible to what really Filipino culture/habits are. It's amazing
Nothing beats a good Tapsilog, Longsilog or Spamsilog for morning breakfast in the Philippines since rice is our daily staple 👌👌
Or lugaw/arroz caldo for breakfast. Again, rice! 👌👌
The two of you are really used to Philippine culture . I hope you will learn how to speak fluently the Filipino language hehehe
That would be nice.

Yes here in the uk are mostly self service, you do everything here by yourself. I miss Philippines now 😥 your so lucky guys ❤🤗
yeah in other country they practice "CLEAN AS YOU GO" especially in restaurants which is I think better than just leaving your trash (its just that other people are not really considerate) 🙄
If we practice that, lots of waiters will lose their job since they may not be needed anymore. Maybe if the store is very full. Lots of people need employment here
Ever heard of Iced Tea, Lucy? Iced Tea with kalamansi is so refreshing.
I live in England and totally relate with your topic here , I am a Filipino. Good luck to 500k subscribers and you both deserve it❤️❤️❤️ i love LUCY she is so pretty
Fast food restaurants, I'm so use to servicing my own table. Feels weird leaving my trays, empty cups and wrappers on the table.
@@wavemaker2077 Filipinos go abroad as expatriates, not as immigrants. They go for work but usually go home after they feel the need to.
You’re the coolest couple from a different country living in the PH! I hope both of you continue to enjoy what you’re doing and stay safe.
I laughed through this because it's so relevant!
I keep walking to the shade on the 1 day out of 30 it's sunny back here in Britain... who needs Vitamin D!
Oh.. but I always drank my tea in the Philippines... but never with milk there...
That’s nice, you are getting adjusted to the Culture.
"I think I can keep a note but I don't think I'm like a singer" That line alone is just so Filipino 😂
The packing of goods in groceries is actually convenient for stores because it will help ease queues. So it's a 3-way win win situation (the store, the bagger and the buyer).
very interesting topic.... i love it
I laughed when you said about singing and dancing in public because when I first arrived in England and the few years after my manager would sometimes tell me, "Ester, your leaking" because I didn't realise that I was humming or singing.
@@denniszenanywhere PH is a happy place what do you expect?
I'm not sure if you already tried - - avocado here is more of a dessert. Slice or cube them up, add condensed milk, then chill. You ca also do an avocado shake!
We add other fruits to that, mostly ripe mango and banana.
Here in the Phil the one who sing out of tune in a karaoke bar usually gets the loudest applause. Its kinda 'common you can do it.'
But anyway, it's still hotter here than in the UK.
we're not in the equator. We're latitudes north of it, much nearer to the Tropic of Cancer. Indonesia is the one in the equator.

Hi Lucy & George! Looking forward to your next video regarding your favorite British celebrities and what made you like or love them.

Nice to see you both are adjusting to the culture/lifestyle in MNL. Luv watching you guys and looking forward to your daily vlogs!
They mentioned that together with the self service in the cashier counter.
We eat rice here in the Philippines three times a day. 😅
And that's why it has to be imported!
Some people not all in city most of them eat bread sometimes just a coffee only
3x meal a day and 2x snacks 😂
Philippines is near the equator so the heat of the sun is different compared to England so avoiding the sun is a must here and it can cause harm to your skin for too much sun.
Oh its so cute seeing you both accustomed already to our culture. Love watching you videos. ❤️

This is so interesting because i live in england (half filipino) but we have chicken or sometimes salmon with rice for dinner.
