Without a doubt he is the greatest singer/songwriter as for “Call It a Loan”, Jackson and all of his music, especially that of his earlier years, are all underrated.
Love his voice, he still has that magical sound after all these years. He is an artist that has been able through the years to always entertain us with his poetic words and fantastic singing. Keep on singing for us Jackson. Saw him in Peoria IL 2 years ago and in Chicago last year. Best concerts I have seen in a long time.
My wife & I saw this 2013 solo tour performed in Symphony Hall in Springfield, MA. Jackson entertained a full house of 2,600 people all by himself. It was pretty impressive to say the least. Thanks for the post and the memories.
Just saw JB at Tanglewood (Lenox, MA) for 4 July. He was incredible. Of course. Love him --- not only for his amazing music but also for all that he does to make the world a better place and to live justly, fairly and humanely.
There's no one like JB. I've listended to him since the seventies and been to his conserts twice in Denmark and Norway, and still he captures me - even with his older songs. An amazing singer/songwriter! Than you.
Dam Jackson - I was down the street from you in second grade @ Fern Drive - while you were rolling by, bailing on High school and doing what you already knew you knew. Thanks for all these songs that are part of our lives - These Days @ 16 !! Mic drop CHEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRS !!! Costa Mesa was amazing two weeks ago btw :)
Thanks so much for posting. Both of these songs are in my top 10 list. We were at the show, it is so fantastic to be able to see it again. I first saw JB back in 1978 -- his Running On Empty tour. He is so great and still sounds so good. Thanks again!
Too true, I have seen him in California (but it is easier here; I went a bit concert crazy from '10 thru '13 to see everyone I wanted to see in the '80s but never had money. I got a bit spoiled since they all tour within 100 miles from me...) Now I have the urge to see when he's going to play here again.
So hard to listen to. But so important 30 years later and surviving. Song I was listening to when I thought my world was over and I tried to take my life.
I would love to see his guitar collection. I saw Joni Mitchell in Hawaii in 1972 and she said she wanted to bring someone out to the stage that she thought was very talented. His name was Jackson Browne. He hadn't recorded yet. I've been a fan since then.
+Keith Staton Back in 1972 my dad met Jackson at one of his concerts in upstate New York. They traded guitar talk and Jackson ended up playing my dad's Martin D-35 at a 2nd show. I inherited that guitar...it whispers to me late at night...harmonics for days.
I like how parts his hair on the right when he plays guitar lefty. THAT'S professionalism. I part mine and play righty. Maybe that's what held me back.
Every time I listened to this song outside, Gods Reigned down. I don't think God wanted me to be loaned... I won't be listening to Mr. Pretender, any more. God has His reasons...
Still listening
In my humble opinion, Jackson Browne is the greatest American singer/songwriter of all time and Call It a Loan is his most underrated song ever.
He writes and sing s ny S O UL
Agreed
What an incredible storyteller
It may not be complicated or deep, but my favorite is still 'In the shape of a heart'. Very powerful and moving
@@cgzimmy at work I convinced my guys that he’s saying in the shape of a whore

One of the greatest poets of our time. His words and music are timeless and ageless ... what a talent.
I just love these two songs and no one can sing them like Jackson. It's just a great blessing to know his music after all of these years.
I really like this. Just Jackson and his guitar. So nice. That D-18 sounded spectacular. Incredible.
Agreed it’s special, but in truth, he’s got a combo playing with him. He has played solo quite a bit, though, just not here.
True. I can hear it. @@Pics2FlicksDennis
Thank you Jackson Browne

MrGandharva108 You’re off on your dates. First Album was recorded in 1971 and released in January 1972. Or maybe it was the Maui Wowee!?
As I expressed to my friend, Gerry theres, nothing really "FREE" IN THIS WORLD, ESPECIALLY ME. I love you Clyde
