    I used to own this watch and bought it for like $15 on sale at a big box store. I ended up giving it away to charity as I just didn't use it. The biggest draw back I recall is that the timer is limited to 60 minutes. However, it was a well made watch for the price. As always, I enjoyed the review.👍

      yes, another negative...and I really love the look of the watch. Conflicted.

    As a Casio fanboy, this is one of my favorite dial/display types. Sometimes Casio makes watches where there is extraneous display elements(I'm looking at you, round g-shock with the three eyes), but this one displays a ton of information. The Day/Date/Year display can display a secondary world time, and those DST indicators are actually useful since I never knew when DST was on or off. It would be amazing if Casio would make a G-Shocked Tough Solarized with this display.

      Great idea on the solar. Thanks for sharing.

    I have never seen a waveceptor before. Looks pretty good. I like the recessed crystal and high water resistance. The buttons look pretty usable too. That day/date display is really small though and that battery life is a quite short but if you can live with that then its a good piece.

    • @Realidealgear
      @Realidealgear  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep...I REALLY like the look...I just can't see anything but the time. I'm considering doing some dremel work on the display dividers and see if another module would fit. The Big Sky looks like a candidate although the light button on the Big Sky is at the 6 o'clock

      The battery life is about 8 years actually. Casio really under rates their battery life because they assume you'll use all the features everyday several times.

    Replacement battery is a CR1620, not a huge expense. It's worth it to me, just because like you, I love the aesthetic. I hope Casio monitors these comments and makes improvements, like SOLAR!

    • @Realidealgear
      @Realidealgear  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Solar would be an incredible upgrade.
      Wouldn't that be something...Casio taking the initiative to read comments from outside the company.
      Have a blessed Easter.

    Thanks for the review. With this one you take some things into consideration that are just not issues for me. I got the budget version with only 50 meters of water resistance. I've been using it to set all my other watches but haven't really worn it around. I love it for what it is but can appreciate all of your points. I prefer the look of the budget one but I'm sure it would get bashed around a lot quicker than your one if you do hard yakka in it.

      It's interesting to me how many watch enthusiasts have a watch with incredible accuracy such as the atomic clock or hyper accurate quartz watches to set other watches. I'm the exact same way. It's almost as if I don't trust my phone's time!

      @Tim Johnson I've been meaning to comment on your Big Sky review, but have just been a bit distracted and busy. Thank you for doing that review.
      I also came across an amazing looking watch. It's a Casio Lineage with a classic chronograph analog layout. However, all the various digital functions are available in analog format. It's 40mm in diameter, has a sapphire crystal, 100m water resistance, tough solar, multi band 6, timer, stopwatch, world time and alarm function. You will probably not find it suitable for yourself because of visibility issues with the small mini dials, but it is a very good looking and highly functional and tough looking watch for about 300 dollars at Discovery Japan Mall. It's got a stainless steel case, is around 10 or 11mm in height. The bracelet is not high end but looks to be perfectly good for what it is with solid links, hollow end links and a pressed clasp as far as I can tell.
      You can get higher end versions of the same thing in the Oceanus line, but I thought this watch stood out for basically having all the functions of the Waveceptor plus tough solar in a more compact form with a very respectable and presentable analog format suitable for formal attire as well as a sapphire crystal.
      There's aldo a video on TH-cam where a Russian TH-camr abuses both a G Shock and a budget Casio Sapphire analog watch and the budget sapphire model looks very nice even after scratching it with a big sandstone rock. The stainless steel case scratches much more than the display crystal. Then he progressively hammers the G Shock and the sapphire analog with greater and greater force. The budget sapphire holds out for much longer against the hammer than the G Shock.
      Edit: It doesn't have screw down crown. It has pushers, not a crown.

    I have ae-2000 which is the same form factor. Wears great on my 6.5 inch wrist + 10 year battery and LED backlight. Wave Ceptor/Multiband 6 by Casio are not appealing for me - Never catch the signal in my location. Citizens do it regularly. Don't know - probably a better build in anthena. Thanks for the review.

    Good review. Hmmm. You may not like the Rangeman. It has similar features. Save your money. Also, EL also contributes to battery life depending on how often you use it, motion activation or 1-3 second delay.

    I bought the black and silver one off of Amazon. However, during the course of watching videos of this watch I've noticed only the desert tan, green, and blue versions actual say Multi band 5 on them. Yet the black and silver one I bought also says Multi band 5. I'm noticing the one you have in this video looks almost identical to mine except, your doesn't say Multi ban 5. Did I buy a knock off from Amazon?
