Excellent information. That's exactly what I have experienced in my studio. Most of the time , like you said they want something pop sounding. I love all of the Jennifer Eklund books. I have used all 3 successfully and it always satisfies my students. If I do order sheet music, Jennifer Eklund now writes for sheetmusic and musicnotes which makes it easy to find their level. The the songs are long and I find that most students don\t want to work through these lengthy pieces. I will teach the rhythm by ear but more often I will grab these pop books from Jennifer. It's important to pick up when your student needs a change - it keeps then wanting to continue with piano lessons. I wish I had a teacher like that when I was taking lessons. It can make or break your student coming back year after year.
This is a big help! I also find that students don't necessarily want to learn all of a piece. And it's often better to incorporate playing by ear or at least incorporating playing by ear with arrangements for pop tunes. Arrangements don't necessarily reflect the style of a piece. Your recommendations to pop collections are also appreciated.
Super useful, thank you so much
Glad it was helpful!
The new Wunderkeys books for teenagers are a new great gem!

Absolutely! For the occasional piece I love her arrangements of genuine pop songs but these books are my go-tos! Students just love em!
Wisely said! Thanks a lot
Thanks for watching Sandra!

John Viljoen absolutely! Working by ear is often a great option.
What's the site you mention around the 2:55 mark - Noah's score?
