    This is still my "go to" video to share with parents looking for their first home practice piano.

    I converted one of my Upright Pianos to play & feel like a Digital Piano by replacing its original action w/ a Pull-Action that came out of a Spinet Piano (basically a Mini Upright Piano).

    Wow! Thanks for this video to share with potential students. I’d talk about the bench too as I’ve k own folks that think a chair is a good idea.

      Yes, that's very important to discuss with every new student.

    I bought a cheap Alesis Recital piano at Amazon. It's 88 keys and has been OK to learn on and has 5 sounds. But I played some nice Roland and Yamaha pianos at Costco. 🎹 👍

    Thanks for the excellent advice. My son has been learning on a portable/stage Yamaha P515. His teacher has advised that for level 5 and above, an acoustic piano would be a desirable because the minor differences in action and key mechanics can start to matter a lot more. We have a new Kawai Novus NV5S arriving tomorrow, which my son is very excited about! Your words about the NV10 are very reassuring.

      We have an NV5 actually in the other teaching room and love that too. :D

      @@ColourfulKeys Fantastic -the NV5S arrived today! My son loves it, although he has mentioned there's an occasional sticky key. We don't know if that's just climate and humidity or a problem, although James does say that almost every acoustic piano he has played has similar behaviour. Is that something you have noticed with your NV5?

      @@DeckardWill not something I've noticed but I would send a support message to Kawai.

    Thanks, Nicola! I'm going to reference this video in my own article that I've been writing and updating for several years. I really appreciate seeing the two Kawai instruments: your beautiful new hybrid and the high-end digital piano. I have to make an effort to play both of these models to understand them better.

    I have an Acoustic Piano that plays like an Electronic Keyboard because it has Tubular Pneumatic Action.

    What about 5 year olds that are just starting out? I always say to parents to buy the best piano or keyboard that you can afford, but a lot of parents do not want to purchase a nice piano or keyboard for a 5 year old until they know that they are going to stick with lessons. It's a pet peeve of mine actually. I learnt a lot when all lessons had to go online (in regards to what equipment students had at home). I discovered many things indeed..... sitting too low or too high... toy keyboards.... etc. One student had their acoustic piano in the garage where the humidity and temperature were at extremes in winter & summer. Ok, now I am just on a tangent. Lol! My original thought was, what do you recommend for parents with a 5 year old?

      @ColourfulKeys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same recommendation. It all comes back to understanding your investment to me. If they're going to invest in lessons, that investment will not be worth it if they do not have a quality instrument at home.
