  • Bradley Beal explains to Draymond Green why he was frustrated with the reports that he didn’t get along with John Wall and compares what it’s like playing with Wall to playing with Russell Westbrook. Beal also explains why "that sh*t gotta stop" with the Westbrook slander and why it's time for the haters to shut up and put some respect on the future first-ballot Hall of Famer's name.

As a Wizards fan, we hugely over-achieved last year because of Russ, but just didn't quite have enough talent and injuries took their toll. This season, with all the talent we have, we have been absolutely dreadful, and us not having Russ, as well as the coaching staff, have to take a lot of the heat for that.

If Russ came back to that team right now and they somehow kept Beal, Porzingus, and added Russ, they'd probably go to the conference finals. I'm telling you a guy like Porzingus was exactly what the Wizards were missing. They needed a shot blocking big man that was gonna stay the hell out of the paint on offense.
You look at Giannis' success it's thanks to Brook Lopez. He is absolutely that for Giannis and his game turned a corner when they got Lopez. Westbrook has never gotten the real stretch 5 he deserves for his skillset. That's on front offices for not seeing how easily they could build around this guy. Dallas is adding the same types of players for Doncic and they turned a corner last year. That's all it is. Build around Russ just cause he can't shoot doesn't mean it's a problem. It's easier to add shooting than a Hall of Famer.

People forget or don’t know that the wizards, led by a perennial all star Wall and a rising Beal, were the only team in the conference to advance in the playoffs 3 times from 2014-2017. Only team. They made the playoffs 4 times in walls last 5 years( outside of the injuries of course) never finished below under .500 any of the 5, upset 2 higher seeded teams in playoff series AND never once lost a series to a team that wasn’t a #1 seed. ALSO, they never lost a seires in less than 6. People often talk about the game 7 Series Vs Boston where Boston’s bench took over the game, but they forget that the wizards were a SUPER close 6 game series away from taking out the #1 pacers teams and were a broken wall hand with a 1-0 series lead away from taking down another 60 win 1 seed.
Even Walls last playoff trip before the injuries in 2017/18, he had just missed 2 months before the start of the playoffs with knee surgery and the wiz fall to 8th. Face a 59 win super deep raptors team. Wall comes back and the team somehow pushes that raptors team to a 2-2 tie, and then barley loses games 5 and 6 having seocnd half leads in the both.
My point? Wall led this team WAY further than anyone should have or he gets credit for. And Beal deserves credit for his elite role as well, but the wiz haven’t even hit .500 since wall…but people, I swear, they just dismiss what wall was able to do without a legit squad GM and coach around him.
In fact, Wall, according to a study by espn where you give points to accoladed teammates and execs and coaches, has had more sucess with less help than anyone else, ever. Yea he only came close to the ECF 3 times…buuut having zero all stars or anything close to a COtY or DPOY or 6MOTY doing that? Having the worst bench in the playoffs those years? Like that shit is insanely impressive. One of my biggest NBA regrets is that Wall and Beal never had a legit contending team put around them, because I firmly believe they could have won a title just cuz of how talented they are, how good they were on D when they locked in, and how they are just dawgs, especially John.
Another reason why wall is overlooked is how he got even better during the playoffs individually. Do y’all know he’s the only player in NBA history to average over 27 and 10 for more 5 games? Wall did it for 13.
Then he came back and averaged 26 and 11.5 his very next playoff run. Only player ever to have those averages across multiple consecutive playoff series. He’s amazing. That 2016/17 season was all time great from Wall but no one cares or knows

Facts! NBA fans today only know Wall as an overpaid and injury prone player. They didn't know why he got that supermax money. He's arguably the second best player in the East next to LeBron in 2017 when he signed that extension. I would not be an NBA fan if not for him. He's the most exciting player I've watched. It's so refreshing and interesting to hear players talk like this. When they interview with reporters their guards always up, very careful about what they say, how it will be interpreted, etc etc. But when it's like this, on a platform (instead of big sports media like ESPN, FS1, TSN) with another player, talking like they would without a mic. It's authentic and raw and allows us to view a world we never had access too until now. Also awesome to know my opinion on all this stupid Westbrook hate is seemingly shared by the actual players, because it felt like trying to tell ppl the sky isn't really blue. Yeah it doesn't look great but a big part of the problem is the environment...that roster is not suited to his skill set and all around very I'll fitting all together, also the coach isn't a bad coach but I don't think he is the right coach for this team. I think a stronger, more respected personality was needed, someone who can better experiment with line-ups and offensive systems (playbook, ATO's etc.) ...Russ and James minutes should have been split/staggered from the beginning, start russ, but have him play with the 2nd unit more (kind of like how Ginobili was with the spurs championship teams) and if hes having a bad night or getting out of control sit him at the end of close games. He might complain a bit at first, but he'd still start, have starter minutes and run his own unit, a strong coach could sell that to him and take him off the floor when he needs to, by winning games or at least showing he has some sort of plan instead of throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks (how Vogel seems to experiment with lineups)

The treatment Russ gets is the reason why many athletes now take the Lebron route and go to stacked teams. Russ never had the right pieces around him ... even in OKC KD recently said that he was tired of being the only player on the roster able to hit a 3. How was Russ supposed to win there? But he never complained or whines about it. He just works hard and shows up every night .. that's why he's my favourite player.
