I never realized how truly innocent and childlike this interaction was, you could see she felt a bit more safe and comfortable around Tyrion enough to let her guard down and show a bit of childlike mischief. It’s also the innocence of the fact that she called sheep shit “sheep shift” that got me, I never realized because most of what we saw of Sansa she was being psychologically tortured, lied to, and treated coldly/cruelly, for literally years until she learned how to play the game and manipulate others she had to live in constant fear of being raped by the common folk or brutally killed by the lanisters. I do believe at some point she realized they wouldn’t kill her because they intended to marry her to a lanister to secure the north, but she didn’t know that for the longest time, after her fathers execution she had to have known on some level that Joffrey would never marry her and allow her to become queen, and she genuinely started living in fear and almost total isolation despite being in the castle. So to see her getting to be a naive little “shift” again like all children are, even if it’s just for a moment warms my soul. The few times we genuinely got to see her be a girl we’re always somewhat impactful (even if she used most of those opportunities to be a snarky teenage girl) and I never noticed before but it appears the castle gardens became Sansa’s safe space after her interactions with Margery and her grandmother. Another fun thing I didn’t notice the first time around is that Sansa wasn’t actually offended/saddened by joffrey replacing her with Margery, she was actually extremely grateful that Margery freed her of that burden/fear and tho she pretends to be heartbroken by it she actually serves a tiny coy smile to herself as she walks away after Joffrey’s proposal. I wish we could’ve seen more moments like this and that her life as a capital hostage and political pawn wasn’t so terrifying. There’s a very real, very possible chance that had Arya not disappeared from the castle the day of Ned starks execution that one of the girls would’ve been killed, after all they only needed one stark/lanister marriage to secure the north. And I believe that had any other stark women other then Sansa been the one to be held hostage in the castle they would’ve died.
