    Electric cars were always better but had no ability to practical till batteries existed that could support them. With instant torque and one moving part its simple to see why. ICE engines are not super efficient nor are they easy to build or maintain. They served their purpose well but their day is over its just a matter of time.

    The transition is about efficiency, cost, reliability and any other metric you care to name. It's totally unemotional except for the "good old boys" who need to hear the burble of an ICE engine in the morning.
    Have you seen the Yamaha Toyota jv electric (high performance) motors? I think Toyota own a slab of Yamaha. I'm guessing but Mr. Toyoda is saying one thing and doing another like the legacy auto makers.
    When the legacy manufacturers pivot to new energy will Tesla survive cut throat competition? How do we get politicians to understand that the days of centralised energy production have became a time of decentralised energy production.

    • @richardbutton1179
      @richardbutton1179 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Politicians dont understand anything except how to take more of your money. When it comes down to it most of them have little to no knowledge of subjects such as this. And whats wrong with the awesome sound of a V8 engine? The Countach at $3 million is ridiculous! I could see $300k but not million. On the bright side Lamborghini is in the process of making an EV prototype. They have no choice now.

    The first time wrenched on a EV Swap of old cars was in 2004. By 2005 when we started getting LiFEPO4 Prismatic Cells and competitors to the legendary Zilla Controller. Even back then we quickly realised BEVs will become stupid quick and powerful. 15 years later the way Tesla has pushed the industry, performance has surpassed my wildest dreams. FYI NIO EP9 from 2017 deserve some recognition for pioneering insanity.

    The 130 million hyper car needs to be driven on residential streets at 25 mph or less, on highways 65miles, need to change tires and oil and if hit by a drunk driver, will need to be repaired. An Air may be filtered to purity, but when you open doors dirt and dust and bacteria will get inside and when outside the car the pollution and diseases will hit you anyway. A $4000 Wuling Mini EV would do the same thing. I would keep 130 million in bank and drive a Mini EV. $172,000 Rolls Royce use BMW engine and GM gear-box. The high price is for the prestige of unique front grill. Let clueless fanboys derive to grocery store on 130 million super cars.

    I share your enthusiasm about EVs making headway over petrol. However we have to look at the greater picture next. Trucking, earth digging machinery, boats and ships, planes, those are the next areas to master. And not to forget, electricity generation because most of it is provided by burning fossil fuels…☹️🤔

    Hey Sam, at what point will the g-forces be so extreme in an EV launch that the driver could pass out?

    • @antonthompson7838
      @antonthompson7838 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s a hard question to answer because everyone is different but if you go 0-60 mph in 0.091 seconds, you’ll be pulling 30G so some would definitely pass out but you wouldn’t have injuries.
      If you’re willing to accept a few cracked ribs and lose some fillings you could launch 0-60 in 0.078 seconds.
      But in the end to even do 0-60 in those times would take a tremendous amount of power. The Rimac Nevera goes 0-60 in 1.85 seconds, to achieve 0-60 in 0.078 seconds would take a 24,000hp jet car.

    To me, ICE cars or hybrids will still be prevalent in most motorsports by 2030, unless they can quick change battery packs or come up with an instant charger in the time it takes for a normal pit stop. It's one thing to stomp pure ICE cars or hybrids in a 10 seconds or less quarter-mile drag race, but a 3 hour long, let alone a 24 hour long race like Le Mans or Daytona? That's something else. Has anyone raced a Formula E car against even an FP2 or FP1 car, let alone a Formula 1 car for at least a lap or two on a road circuit?

      Like I said above, stomping pure ICE or hybrid cars in a 10 seconds or less quarter-mile (and pretty soon they might even come up with half-mile) drag race is one thing. A full 3 hour NASCAR or Formula 1 race, let alone a 24 hour endurance race like Le Mans or Daytona is different. Manufacturers will either have to come up quick-change battery packs, or instant charge capacitors that can fully charge an ERV (Electric Racing Vehicle) in the time it takes for a normal pit stop in order to fully replace ICE or hybrids in most forms of motorsport.
