ASUS' new G14 and G16 line-up is by far my favourite. I would have prefered an AMD + Nvidia option on the G16, but we'll see what happens in the future. Currently, I don't have a reason to upgrade, but when 50 series come out and the design remains similar, I'm definitely going with those. Prices are gonna be insane as usual tho...

    • @alexfurious2121
      @alexfurious2121 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@tomoblasz2028 screen will no doubt be better since it will support hdr and I think cpu tdp has been increased by like 10W. I'm waiting for the comparison video but so far imo it's better to either get the 2023 model or the next RTX 50 series or whatever they decide to call it. The display on the 2023 model extraordinary even without hdr. Heads up before you purchase though. It does not support DSR factors which is needed to play games at higher resolutions downscaled to 1600p or whatever resolution your monitor supports.

@4070super The risk is there but it takes a few years to notice it. Unless you work with colour-sensitive stuff like photo editing, burn-in shouldn't be something to worry about. You'll barely notice it some years into use and sometimes you forget that it's even there because the display still looks so good.

I'm not even certain I'll be working in the same place in 7-odd months time, so something that is of a jack-of-all-trades in gaming, creativity and reading/writing documents, while having a decent enough battery life is probably better right now than a dedicated gaming rig.

Only thing I'd like to get ahold of is that new 400w charger from MSI for my GT77hx 13vi. On discrete mode it constantly triggers the 330w chargers switch. I have just been using my GT76 Titan DT SGS charger to get over the 400w threshold and no more power trips.

Sir, please help me choose between
I need a more office-like design, but with the ability to play games sometimes.
    Usage: 70% of the time - office work, 20% - movies, 10% - games
I have settled on the following models so far
Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16IRH8 Misty Gray (82YA00C6RA)
Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16IRH8 Glacier White (82Y30086RA)
    Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX8 (82WK00MHRA)
Does it make sense to pay more and buy a Slim 7 or Pro 5?
If so, which one is better?
Or should I consider other brands and models?

I'll tell you about my experience: I've been playing/working on gaming laptops for almost 10 years. I have had PC Specialist, Asus Rog, Lenovo Legion and Alienware for 4 months. They are all high-performance laptops but I have never found continuity in performance with games. always problems with stuttering, frame drop etc. I'm lucky to be very experienced in knowing where to put my hands on both hardware and software, but I can say that when we say desktop replacement, it's half a lie...

Did you get the Omen Transcend 14 in for test yet? I got one last week. All around excellent laptop, but I’m not able to get anywhere near 80w out of the 4070. It maxes out at 50w plus a 15w boost that is very flaky. Mostly it’s locked at 50w. Have you seen the same? Also, the VRR doesn’t work well-no Gsync and there’s very noticeable screen tearing.. which is a bummer bc the otherwise the laptop is quite nice.

Hi, I have a really important question, so if you can answer (or any people who will read this question) it would help me a lot!!!
I want to buy a new laptop gaming, I am really hesitating for monthes between a 17,3 (16/9) or a 18 (16/10) inch.
for me there are 2 possibilties when we play video games on these 2 ratio:
The first one is, the 18" screen is exactly the same that the 17,3" but "less wide" (we can see exactly the same sight, but less wide) so I would prefere the 16/9 ratio, because we can see "more" stuffs on the left and the right part of the screen.
The second one is, The 18" screen is the same that the 17,3 inch, as wide as the 17,3 but we can see more stuff on the top and bottom part of the screen. if its this possibility, then I would prefere the 18" screen.
Can you please help me? if it's the first or the second possibility when you test the game on the 16/9 and 16/10 ratio screen?

The other thing I really want to stress.. This is coming from someone who has owned gaming laptops in this order, so you know I have the experience needed to talk about this.
    1) Aorus X5V8, GTX 1070m, 8850h, 1080P
    2) Alienware M17 R3, RTX 2080S, 10980hk, 1080P
    3) Razer 15 advanced 2021, RTX 3070m, 11800H, 1440P
    4) Lenovo Legion 7i 2021, RTX 3070m 140w, 11800h, 1600P
    5) MSI GT77, RTX 4090m, 13980HX, 4K
4K is so heavy on modern games that the 4090 at 4K/2160P becomes like the 3070 in the Legion at QHD+/1600p.
The zinger? You can't see the difference on a laptop screen at normal playing distances, not even remotely. The only time you may notice it is if a game has very poor AA, as 4K has naturally higher AA properties.
So I end up playing everything at 1440P anyway and to see a real massive performance difference from the Lenovo. Except, most games needs exclusive full screen to do that, which is a PITA, and some games force 4K borderless no matter what, which is a PITA.
4K on a gaming laptop actually makes ZERO sense whatsoever.
1440P or 1600P is where it's at, whether 15, 17, of 18 inch screen size.
A 4080 will do what you need also at that resolution. Don't get a 4070 as 8GB Vram is limiting in 2024. A 4090 is still the best but you WILL be ok with a 4080 at 1600P and under for any game in existence and foreseeable future, for High or Ultra RT 60+ as long as you are willing to use DLSS (you need that with the 4090 too on games like Cyberpunk at 1440P if you want to max out every setting). I never ever go lower than DLSS quality.
The other benefit is that many games at 1440P simple DON'T tax the laptop much overall, which makes for a much cooler and quieter experience.
That's my honest to goodness advice.. 4K laptops are ridiculously pointless. Razer is updating their 18 to a 4K, and if they don't continue to offer the excellent 1600P panel as an option, that's already a dealbreaker for me (just one example).
I have never noticed anything so pointless as 4K laptops. Yes, if you have a 27"+ monitor, THEN you can see the difference between 4K and 1440P.

I am currently in China and looking for a gaming laptop to buy. I can find the Legion 5 Ryzen 7 7840H with RTX 4060 with my current budget. but at the same time, I have also found an Asus TX laptop with i7 13 gen and rtx 4060 but with a much better monitor. but I can't find any review for the Asus TX laptop. As far as I know, it is the same Tuf series but rebranded in China.
