    Another awesome insight, Dr. Barbie! I was struggling a couple of years ago, feeling this “tougher” side of me emerge. It was a scary feeling at first, my husband asked me why was I so angry most of the time. Hard to admit, however, now I can say I embrace it! I no longer am willing to nod my head, and comply....I have an opinion, and I do temper it with love and respect to my husband. I feel free, and am learning my new menopause me, everyday. You made me lol over your drag outfit! I love you!

    Very true! Dr. Pat Allen speaks a lot about midlife changes. As she says: Grandpa is nicer than grandma, and dad is meaner than mom. Aint that the truth. Women get tougher with age and men do come down some. Nature does a hell of a number on people lol

    Amazing insight, food for thought. Dr. B, i just watched your yoga video and now I am truly speechless. Not only are you an MD, have a law and business degree, but you have the body and flexibility of a 20 year old dancer and have gorgeous skin to boot?! I have so many questions. How do you move like that with athritis? How many hours of practice do you engage in a day and for how many years, to get that good at all those balance and strength poses? Were you always flexible, even as a child? I'm wondering if I stand half a chance to work on those skills... Most importantly, when did you find the time to get so amazingly good?!! You are an incredible example of taking life by the horns and experiencing/achieving as much as possible. I really admire you.

      You are very kind, my dear. Thank you.
      I have never danced or been a gymnast. In fact, I am the worst dancer on the planet.
      I was diagnosed with a severe form of arthritis in 2001, with the prognosis the I'd be an invalid in a wheelchair. And that's when I started doing yoga. At first, I went to classes. And, since I was moving to a different country each year, the kinds of yoga differed from place to place. Then, about 6 years ago I started doing my own yoga practical all by myself because I lived in Monaco and the classes were too basic and very expensive.
      So, now I only do 15 - 20 minutes a day, but I do it every day. The routine is always spontaneous and I never know what I'll do.My yoga video was an example of a typical practice.
      I think everyone can do yoga. The first principle of you is "Accept your body as it is TODAY." So I hope you go for it.

    Things pop in our heads as well as on our screens what's up ladies married to someone almost 60 I sent this to him hoping the info can help clarify stuff. Love the outfit. It's nice to know many women at the time of menopause don't necessarily want to hang out with their husbands all the time I don't feel like such a jerk now. He has a place down the hill but has stayed with me since its been cold outside and our houses are super tiny he spends all his time here when he's not out doing whatever ok so we share this adorable new.puppy good reason but he drives me CRAZY I shut up and be nice as he attempts to overcome substance abuse and sometimes has a nasty attitude for no.reason I kinda like the emotional changes mentioned I can deal with that he needs to chill out and I'm WAAAY too nice to.everyone this can be rather good for us I have a job assignment part of this month where conversations have to stay under 10 minutes and it's something I care about very much hygiene access for the unhoused community during covid. It's fun and I don't have to spend half the day interacting with people that don't hold my interest for more than 10 minutes. Were hoping to move early next month but have already been pushed back we will have our own tiny houses close together with heat so we can raise this precious angel together and allow ourselves some space

      Szilvia,
      Welcome aboard to "Menopause Taylor University." You'll find that if you start at the very first video (going by the number after each title), you'll understand absolutely everything. And you'll be shocked at what you didn't know, and delighted that you now do know.
      Each video builds on the last. It's just like school: You had to learn the alphabet before you could read. And nowadays, there are so many overwhelming misconceptions that women mistake as facts ... that you just don't know what you don't know.
      I respond to all comments here on TH-cam daily. So, I will answer all your questions ... but I'll also know if you aren't watching the videos in order. (I'm like your mother. I have eyes in the back of my head!)
      And if you need me to help you tailor anything to your personal situation, you can schedule a one-on-one consultation at MenopauseTaylor.ME any time. I do them all online.

      @@MenopauseTaylor thank you kindly for your detailed comment, I'm going to start watching them from the beginning.
      I do strength training, 2 leg days and 1 upper body day per week (since March, I really enjoy it) which lasts about 30 minutes, but I feel too tired sometimes to do 3 sets of exercises. I had no period since August, I'm 47, I had hot flashes last year in October for a couple of weeks, then it stopped, for a couple of months this year, I have none now. My nutritionist suggested me to use menopauae topical patch from Patch MD, I started using them for a week but I just feel I haven't got much energy. I don't work, I know I have all the time in my hand to do housework, workouts etc. but would like a bit more energy.
      Would you recommend please if I should do or try something to give me a bit more oomph?

    I always used to say menopause is when we pause to become men! I was joking though but not to funny with the facts! My hubby will never have man boobs. He has no body fat at all. But the prostate thing I heard of it because my hubby's dad has prostate enlargement. knew women live longer I think its because in general women dont hold stuff in. Many men hold stuff in. My hubby does not. But he is sensitive like me. That cuts back on life span I read. In general I am a fighter always been that way maybe due to being a survivor.
    t did not really change at menopause but I am more calm now because of the fracture I cant be taken too seriously with a cane if I get angry. What am I going to say I am going to hit you with my cane LOL!
    I never cared about getting married or finding a husband who makes money. I had terrible insomnia. But once I started estrogen it made me sleep. Its not the Progesterone I stopped taking it. One of the issues I want to talk about during the consultation.
    My hubby is so tired me its like a truck hit him. Poor thing works all day comes home and cooks for me after we get home from the gym!
    I have heard about older couples not wanting to spend time together from those I know.
    I feel blessed to have such a loving husband that wants to spend time with me and its been that way since we met. But My acupuncturist just today told me to appreciate my husband that he is rare and her husband who is also an MD who does acupuncture she says he never gives her acupuncture even though she has foot pain! So sad! I would bother to stay with someone like that.
    My dads aunt who died at age 102 her husband divorced her for a younger woman. After a few years she kicked him out he wanted to get married again. My great aunt said no you can buy me things and take me out but I am not marrying you again!
    Drag queens! Actually the outfit looks like what you usually wear!
    Fun and informative tutorial! PS I saw a lady in my building in the elevator. She was having hot flashes. Its basically winter in NYC already and she was dressed for summer. She talked about hot flashes so we told her about your channel. She said she would check it out. She is one of those whop might fit into the category of being angry due to menopause. I never knew the cause though now I do.

      As you learn more and more about menopause, you'll be able to spot a lot of some who are dealing with various aspects of it. And, sometimes, they won't even know it! You'll feel like you want to help them so badly; and yet, most of them will reject your help. Just imagine how it is for me! I'm doing everything I can to help women everywhere, but it's a steep mountain to climb because of all the denial.

    I am very much enjoying your videos. I am on video nº 68...
    I would like to ask you if you know any fellow menopause specialists in Portugal. About a week ago, I consulted my gynecologist/obstectritian and introduced the subject of menopause. Since I am in my early fourties, she told me I must be crazy to even give a thought on the subject. When I asked her what should I do to prepare myself, she told me I should do nothing but to wait and then simply replace the lost hormones. She said she does not have the time to give me information and seemed pretty closed minded about what I shoud do when the time comes. Don't you think I need a specialist? :-)

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You definitely should use a menopause specialist. And don't expect your doctor to teach you about menopause. Doctors are not teachers! They haven't the time or the interest in teaching in a way that patients can understand. That's why you have me!
      Please DON'T WAIT. Get the education NOW, The sooner you do, the better off you'll be no matter how you wish to manage your menopause. My dream is for all women to get the education long before menopause hits them like a ton of bricks.
      I'm sorry I don't know any menopause specialists in Portugal. But, I'll be at an International menopause meeting in one, and I'll ask around.

    To what extent (if at all) does estrogen replacement interfere with the psychological changes that women undergo in menopause? Does it change the “zest”, new found strength, independence, etc. that you mention here, Dr. Taylor? It sure seems like hormones are running our lives, after all! 😄

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It changes everything ... for the better.
      Think of it like this: You've had estrogen coursing throughout your body your entire adult life and you felt great. When it's gone, you feel horrible.
      The same would be true of any hormone deficiency, right?

    • @cm1906
      @cm1906 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MenopauseTaylor Yes, I understand and know from personal experience. I wanted to understand what brings on the menopausal “zest” for women, and all the other positive changes you mention, like independence, new found strength and interests, etc. Are these a result of estrogen loss as well? (As in estrogen leaves and women become less maternal, accommodating, focused on pleasing others, etc.). And hence the question whether estrogen replacement interferes or inhibits these newly surfacing traits (“zest”, etc.).

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
