I was a Computer Science major at the University of Helsinki back in the 1990’s. I remember that most of us opted to create a simple records management solution for a software development lab exercise, but then there was this one guy, who wanted to make his own operating system, and the rest is history... A few years later Linus Torvalds was working as an assistant lecturer and taught me C programming. Let’s just say that he really knew what he was talking about 🤓

You've definitely had xylitol, it's just a type of sugar harvested from birch trees that's not harmful for your teeth. So lots of chewing gums and pastilles are sweetened with xylitol, and also some peanut butters etc.

About the ergonomic Fiskars scissors: They are also made for left-handed people.

I don't know if you know this but Fiskars and Nokia are towns in Finland. The companies were started there.

Corrugated paperboard, solid wood bending, Abloy locks, AIV fodder, Rapala fishing lures and air cushion midsole in sport shoes. In 1952 Adidas bought the three stripes trademark from Karhu. Eric Tigerstedt was a pioneer of sound-on-film technology. .

"In 1977, a Finnish professor from the University of Oulu, Seppo Säynäjäkangas, invented the first battery operated fingertip heart rate monitor as a training aid for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski team and he went on to found Polar Electro." -- Forbes Feb 28, 2016

xylitol can be good for you too. Its sugar from birch-tree. In Finland there is in shops jewing gums made from xylitol. If you jew those after eating it will prevent having holes in your teeth. And they taste quite like normal gum.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol, non-dietary sugar that has interesting properties when it comes to dental health. It can lower your mouth pH to stop it getting acidic and destroying the enamel (this happens after about every meal because of bacteria). But it also blocks plaque causing bacteria from being able to get nutrients so they can't multiply but starve instead. Eating xylitol after a meal, specially after eating sweets will keep your teeth and mouth in better condition. Really good when traveling or doing a long days work away from home when you are not able to brush your teeth when needed.

Fiskars scissors. One German was throwing away stuff and asked if I need something. I spotted the Fiskars scissors immediately. He didn’t know the value of those and I didn’t tell. Now my Spanish better half thinks that they are the best thing in the world 🥳 Every home needs one. You know it when you use those.

Nokia started the widescale adoption of mobile phones and they're coming back. They make very high-grade medical equipment. They're innovators.

The famous three stripes used by Adidas were bought from Karhu for two bottles of whiskey and around 1600€ in today's money.
