so true! i'm more of the avoidant type when it comes to conflict; i just shut down, give an automated apology or just disappear. gotta learn how to handle the small things!

if we don't have equitable distribution of wealth changes there will never be a less violent society toward women and children.

As a mom with 4 adult kids....I love this!!! I also believe we need this in our disability community. My kids and I live both worlds...💚

i struggle with the big forms the heinous crimes committed and this model. I do not think that victim abuser dialog should ever be encouraged or even suggested unless the victim themselves request it as part of their healing process and while i type this i have only watched half of this and a full other of yalls videos on it the other research i have done on TJ advocates for it.

Amen to all of this. I think its really about resisting the current capitalist mindset. We're bombarded with messages of - show no weakness, take no responsibility, compete and compare, and reap the rewards. All in the name of corporate greed. Thank you for this alternate message of truth and love, a transformative message to speak to our humanity.

This sounds like this would be the best possible system to use for small and tight communities where people are aquinted and feel united.
I'm afraid however that this would fall apart if applied to a big city where people live like rats in a barrel and know little to nothing about the people living right beside them, let along all the other millions living in that same city.
I grew up in a pretty rough criminal invested neighborhood, applying this there would most probably lead to more not less death and violence. Some people are just not going to allow you to de-escalate a situation without violence, and what should we do then? And what if they are stronger and better armerd and armored?

We have the police still. The goal now is to build parallel structures to eventually make the present judicial and carceral systems obsolete. Before then though, with more effective, less harmful ways of disciplining and punishing people we won’t have to rely as heavily on the police or state to enforce laws and establish justice; if you haven’t noticed they aren’t doing that too well anyway.

@@ericdecker2914 I'm p sure the aim with practices of transformative justice is to get rid of the police and prisons right?

Felix Henson Yes, but a lot of what the police ‘do’ now will still need doing, whatever we call those who do it hence my use of the term with our friend.

Exactly and Let's combine this with equitable distribution of wealth which must address the consumerism society that values competition and dominance. Our consumerism structure drives wealth inequality those in power will never agree without a fight. Those who hold the purse strings who've been enabled since the 70's are the biggest barrier to social justice. Kind of discouraging. It would be nice if we could all just be nice but open our eyes.

Respect starts within the home and parents. This is why having a family structure is important.

9:40 Being "tight" with our own stuff isn't "capitalist" anything. It's the recognition that the things we have or possess are finite. Blaming capitalism for something it has nothing to do with is so tiresome (and it sure feels like lazy thinking).
