    Many thanks for the great and easy to follow video. I also purchased the same grips and show chrome dampeners. Installation was fairly straight forward though I had trouble with frozen screw inside the cruise/reverse switch box. My left OEM grips were a bear to take off but finally I managed that too using a long thin screw driver. Throttle action was smooth and flawless after installation but before the dampeners were installed. After I installed the dampeners, my throttle was slow to return to idle position - then I switched dampeners and all is working right!!!!! Much easier to follow your video than the instructions that came with product.

    Thank you for this. Mine were not working. But both of the seats worked, until i turned on the grips. As they are all wired together obviously not a fuse. Installed these now everything works. I checked my grips after I had cut them off, and found my right hand grip had no continuity. Thanks for the video very helpful.

    Great video! my left OEM grip failed causing the right one to also fail. Replaced with the same grips you installed. Thank you!

    I now have the same issue. To add to it - find replacement hand grips. Not too keen on buying Honda replacement ones. Do you know where I can find after market heated grips? Great video by the way.

    I’m having the same problem with mine. I checked the fuse but they still don’t get warm . I’ll have to get around to doing it. Thanks for the how to.

      The female wiring harness that connects the control module could have frayed or broken wires inside the protective shield.Mine did, the factory installed a zip tie crimped the harness causing it to break over time.

    What is the item number for the Show Chrome grips that you got? I don’t see anything that is made for gold wings today.

    You said at the end of the video that they work but how well? How hot do they get and how long does it take to get there. I have an2008 GL1800 with the same problem and got the same grips. I also soldered them. I can’t tell if they work or not. They seem to feel a little warm but not noticeably hot.

    What’s the length of those grips? The OEM Honda ones are 6”, so far I can find any aftermarket heated grips that are the same length.

    So you can still use the stock controls for these grips? It didn’t matter which of the black wires you connected to the new grips? This seems much easier and cheaper than taking it to the dealer.

      I guess he only makes videos and doesn't answer questions. I had the same question on polarity of the wires.

    What is the problem if the grips stop working when the seat is turned on?

    • @SunyJim
      @SunyJim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your driver seat, passenger seat and grips are all wired in one circuit. So if the seats work both driver and passenger, then it's not a fuse. If your seat goes off when you try to turn on the grips, then you have a broken wire or short in the grips. That's what happened with mine, both seats worked single and together. As soon as i turned on the grips. No seat heat. If i tried just the grips, nothing. So i did what the video suggested, wired these in, now everything works. These grips are nice, I was used to Kuryakyn grips on my old bikes and these are about the same diameter, where I found the stock goldwing ones were a little small and irritated my mild carpo. I bought used so I can't say if they get as hot as stock, but what I will say it's less than diagnosis, and new grips at the dealer that's for sure, and they look good, and warm my hands now they are installed so I'm happy. In your case if you have heat in your grips, and then you lose heat in the grips when the seat is turned on, I would ask is it just your driver seat, or is it either front OR passenger seat? I suspect that your cable to the seat has become disconnected, or corroded etc. take off the seat and check.

      @@SunyJim grips work very well. No seat heat at all. Just noticed grips go off when driver or passenger is turned on. Both seat sections do not work though. Bought new- Saddlemen heated seat and that works well. Installed adapter so the grips will still work. Now, I need to figure out how to connect heated backrest to the aftermarket heated seat switch.

    you did not show if you glued the grip or just stuck on ??

    • @cedarhousefixit6113
      @cedarhousefixit6113  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn't glue it because it was already a very tight fit. You can glue them if you feel you want to.

    I guess he only makes videos and does not check back for questions as I wondered about polarity also.
