That's not really true. Both aides did duke it out with surface ships. Look at the surface night battles around Guadalcanal. There were so many ships lost there, it became known as Iron Bottom sound. The Japanese tried several times to race surface forces toward American carrier task forces and were generally denied because the American surface fleet in the Pacific at the time was smaller.
Thank you for uploading this. Excellent historical footage and impressive narration is something that newer games should implement.
Memories...
6:39 you need both as capital ships. The underutilization of the surface fleet on both sides prolonged the war

The Army did the same Amphibous training for the Asiatic Pacific theatre just like in Europe along with the Marine Corps
How do you get historical footage on rising Sun
Nice
I wonder why these cutscenes were never in the GameCube version? Medal of Honor frontline showed all the historical movies in the GameCube version.
The PS2 used DVD's(4.7 GB of space) which had much more space then the small discs(1.46 GB of space) that the Gamecube had.
Just curious did the GC version have any reference to the historical events after a mission or just cut straight to the next mission?
