he is one of big musician Kurdish in Iran, he play SETAR CAMANCHA or JOZA, he play traditional and folk Kurdish music, last year 2019 he rejected an concert in turkey against Erdogan attack on Kurds
Kalhor is playing kamanche and it's a eastern music. In east we have no note or anything else the artist watch his(or her) feeling at that moment and play we call it bedahe-navazi that's why his eyes is closed he doesn't need them. He just have to feel him self

The instrument is called "kamancheh" or "little bow" and it's nearly 1000 years old. Kalhor used to have several concerts in EU and US before covid situation
This instrument is called Kamancheh (kamānche) which has a long history. Actually it was first an instrument called "Qazhak" (which we now know it as "Gheychak") that goes back to more than 1400 years ago (before the Muslim conquest of Persia), which has been changed and improved. The Kamancheh with an appearance we have now, is originated from "Safavi" and "Ghajar" dynasty (about 300 years ago).
