I don't care if the under folder isn't as easy to shoot as the fixed stock. It looks so classic and cold-war retro, I'd buy it just as a display piece.
Yeah it’s like some African war lord or Middle Eastern soldiers rifle but I dig it!
Oh yah def got that Cold War era look to it, partly one of the reasons why I got it

So what is your first impression of trying to aim with this thing as far as any cheek weld is converned?
Ofc the fixed is sold out, hope more come in tbh, we finally have a viable rifle and sold out within 2-3 days crazy as hell.
Yeah it’s pretty sad that we have to pay these high prices, then on top you got scalpers reselling for double.. hopefully they bring in more I’m sure they will.
@@canuckguns they will but not for another 1-2 years at least. So it’s going to be some time until we see another import.
On the plus side we’ll likely have Pierre as PM by then and who knows, maybe we can buy actual AKs by that time🤞

I love how they moved the front sight to the end to make it look like an AK, I hate the grenade launcher barrel thing i want it off.

Thanks for posting a great review! I was hung up on getting the folder vs fixed but decided on the latter since I could swap it for a Zhukov stock and go full AK cyberpunk LARP. Also take my advice with a grain of salt but I don't think you should hide your face. We're all RCMP-vetted gun owners and there's nothing shameful about legal gun ownership. In fact I think you would get wider audience reach and encourage more Canadians to get involved with our community (skull balaclavas scare normies). But then again, I didn't take the effort to post a review on the new non-restricted hotness, so do what feels right for you!

Hey thanks for taking your time to write the comment and for the support! And good choice on the fixed! those things sold so fast, Zhukov stock looks awesome and very ergonomic. And yes i always push for safe firearms usage, proud of our firearms community in Canada, very responsible and friendly bunch who love their sports shootin, hunting and collecting. Haha as per the mask its more for protecting my fam and ppl around me, living in a city you never know whos watching what you have at home etc, it'd be different if i was in a rural area. Happy Shootin brotha! Enjoy!

Wow this is just awesome! One question: can you "top load" this rifle like how you would load an SKS or a Mauser with stripper clips?...
Sadly no you can’t, it doesn’t accept clips. I actually love using clips on sks I’m so used to it.
Can you post a video of you just aiming down site. How hard or uncomfortable is it compared to the fixed stock. 🤔
I will post some of that footage soon broski, to be honest I find it easier to aim with a proper wooden stock, like I feel more comfortable aiming with my SKS … but I like how compact this is when folded.
@canuckguns Thank you for the reply brother. I got myself a folder from back in the day and I completely tricked it out. I was considering upgrading to this but I might hold off. When the fixed stocks are back in , I'll grab for sure and keep it clean no mods. Would you honestly say it's more front heavy than their original Folder with the redwood

How heavy is it in the front in comparison with the older model type 81 rifle. Not the LMG or SR. The rifle version
I have only ever shot the side folder and it seems similar to that, the barrel is quite front heavy though even with the grenade launcher style barrel removed.
Is it possible to change out the butt stock on these to something else?
I dont think it would be that easy, theres rivets in the rear trunnion that would need to be removed and the folding butt stock assembly, seems like too much work not worth it. I would keep it as is, enjoy how compact it is.
Does it come with 2 mags or you added " 1 spare " extra cost ?
It comes with 2 by default which is great, I thought it was only going to come with one.

Got the email a few weeks back was gona order the fixed stock, i put it off a couple of days , they sold out, sais they have the underfolders, but i want the fixed, the sights look soooo much better now, hopefully they will jave another shipment in the future
Hopefully they bring more in, I dont think any of the previous styles sold out as fast as the fixed. I initially thought the under folders would sell before the fixed because there arent that many options out there (other than the gsg mp40 in 9mm with the crazy long barrel lol)
@canuckguns yea I hear ya, I'm just a lil nervous 2 with the underfolder, not being able 2 rest ur cheek their probably feels weird, side question, did they just basically take the barrel from the lmg and pop it on this 1? U were saying it feels a bit front heavy
@@TheRealBatCave I get what you mean, it def. isnt as comfortable, cheek weld is practically non existent, I havent shot this yet but I have shot under folder AKs in the states and i noticed you keep getting thrown off by the recoil so its harder to aim. As for the barrel, i think the LMG version has a 20" barrel where as this has 18" ...the front still feels a tad bit heavy, prob because the weight distribution. If you want a fixed i would prob wait, and i also wouldnt buy one from a scalper whos selling them for $2-2500 on gunpost smh.

Does the folding butt plate have detents or is it just stiff when you unfold it?
It does have detents, but to be honest it’s not the most comfortable to hold.

Charging handle won’t go back without a mag in it?
Correct, theres a small bar behind the magazine follower that holds it open. When you pull the mag out it drops down and releases.
I never had an issue with stocks for resting my cheek unless I’m using a scoped rifle. The kick is so non existent nvm it’s semi only, even in close quarters lots of high end guys pretty much always have their M16 stock closed all the way, they just use it as a pad. If this was in 30-06 I’d sing differently lol
Yeah some folks are worried that they won’t get a proper cheek weld with the under folder because they tend to make them lower.
How much wiggle you getting when the stock is extended?
When extended 0 wiggle, but when folded, it does wiggle side to side about an inch
@canuckguns must have got a nice one lol, all 4 examples I've seen had few degree of wiggle. I will add they didn't have much wiggle side to side when folded tho

@@Surinder_Singh1756 a few people received bent barrel but most are good, just order it and if there’s any issue they will send you a replacement.

@@Surinder_Singh1756 lmg barrel is longer and heavier, the stock is very big too. You should get the under folder before they sell out.
What’s this I saw on the cgn forum about a hole in the rear of the receiver?
YA! There’s a hole at the back, I just realized today… it’s small but still… not sure why there is one there… wonder if it’s for the original fixed stock installation..

I havent seen a picture of it, but i did see new posts on cgn saying the side folders from 2017 also had this small hole (some didnt?). At first i was thinking it was from the missing fixed stock and picturing a 1 cm diameter hole, you have an estimate on the diameter or a picture?

You mistakingly said the front sight was moved to the front "kind of like an AK"
Actually, the front sight is in the same position for the under folder, folding stock, standard, and lmg versions.
Also, the AK has its front sight closer towards the back of the barrel, not the front.
The older type81 sight is closer to the gas block in the center of the barrel, the type81M front sight has been moved to the end of the barrel. The AK front sight is also at the end of the barrel, i think you are talking about the rear sight.
the standard and folding stock do not have a sight at the end, i have both and they are center of the barrel. This new type 81 is completely changed.
