Dude has a signature sneaker for a reason. Nike wasnt just handing them out back then like they do now.
No lies. Mike, Penny, Griffey Jr, and Bo Jackson were pretty much the only signature lines back then. C Webb and Rodman had a Nike pair out too but not like the guys I mentioned
Right 👍🏼
Who had better handles, Kyrie or Penny?
@@Logistics_Sandar I think Kyrie has more playground/And 1 type handles. Penny didn't do a lot of extra dribbling. Quick crossovers followed by a drive or spin move.
Facts
He was so humble. Never flopped
He was complete. His IQ and vision was insane
The marketing and merch equally impressive
Totally agree 👍
I always thought he was like a more athletic and better shooter than Magic Johnson. Penny's passing was an extremely underrated part of his game. I wish he never got hurt to see what he could have been.
@@bigred9991 Truly legit👍💯
@@dacoldest3896 had he not got hurt he would have changed the evolution of the big combo guard!! He had the skills of 1, 2, and 3
Favorite player all time. Starting PG on my alltime team. Penny was cold 1st team all nba his 2nd year. Put this man in the HALL OF FAME!!!
I agree put him in the Hall of Fame he deserves he did more in three years than alot of players that made it in the Hall of Fame🤷🏿♂️
FACTS!😤
Y'all tripping
@@lorenzoyoung698ain't nobody tripping penny needs to be in the hall
I would take Penny as my all time best PG
I just did the inflation calculator, penny was so popular that in 1997 his foamposite shoes cost 185 dollars and in todays money that comes to 365 bucks. No wonder I never got them as a kid lol
Penny was so cold bruh. Growing up in Memphis I knew Jordan was the man but I wholeheartedly believe Penny was right there
Horace liked Penny way more. 😂
I did too. And he had Tyra
Can you imagine if everything ran through the Bulls and Magic as far as playoffs, imagine the Bulls and Magic squaring off 5 straight years in the ECF for a trip to the finals!! History would be rewritten I truly believe the Bulls would be a couple of rings short!! Jordan really was never challenged by an elite level athletic guard such as penny no dis to J. Dumars, but he was really not challenged coming out of the east
Another underappreciated gift was Penny's IQ it was off the chain. He posted like a big, stepped up whenever needed, mad handles, could shoot, quick, & a lot stronger than he looked.
Dude was neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr under-appreciated❗️
Speed, handles, defense, ability to finish at the rim, post game just unstoppable
Penny had the Offensive skillset & athleticism of Jordan, but can pass like Magic !!! Penny was COLD 🥶!!!!
Better passes than magic
@@Pler1978stop with the cap. That is what sours people on greats sometimes
penny wasnt a better scorer than magic, and certainly he was nowhere near the playmaker magic was...
COLD!
Very well said, I agree with you 110%😁😁👍👍
My fav player of all time man he was so fun to watch. His awareness was second to none.
The one player to get MJ to wear HIS sneakers in a game, ladies and gentleman.
Troll attempt fail
@@brandonhaymon3000 Do your research before you speak...

Penny in my opinion is one of the all time greats 💯💯💯💯💯
Man, that 1995 Magic team could've been a dynasty: Penny, Shaq, Grant, Anderson, Scott. One of the less-discussed NBA 'what ifs'
no, they wouldn't. They didn't have any strong willed character to push that team. I'm not even sure shaq ever develop that part. Lakers dynasty was pushed by kobe as the strong willed character. And that strong willed character in the 2006 heat championship was pat riley.
@leonardoyi3183 True. Perhaps someone like a Phil Jackson could've pulled them together. But certainly had the talent on paper.
Egos reared their ugly heads!! Shaq had it going on Orlando with a supporting cast that would suggest you don't have to kill your self every game. This team was more balanced than them LA suads
I'm 42, so I was there to know that most of these highlights come from the 95-96 season. Shaq was injured for the first 22 games, and Penny opened the season on FIRE. In the first 22 games while Shaq was away, Penny averaged 26.4 ppg (2nd only to Jordan), 6.8apg, 5.3rbg, 2spg, 1bpg, shooting 50.3% from the field, 35% from 3, and 79% from FT.
He had 6 games of 30 points or more, and had 42-8-8 in a win over the Nets. The Magic were 17-5 in the win-loss column, again, second ONLY to the Jordan's Bulls (they went 72-10 that season).
When I was watching, I DID NOT WANT SHAQ TO COME BACK FROM INJURY, because when he did, I knew he would take away the shine from my favourite player: Penny. When he did, the Magic played slower, and finished the season 60-22, and Penny's numbers drop to 21.7, 7.1, and 4.3. Decent, but not MVP numbers. If Shaq didn't come back, Penny would have EASILY been a top 3 MVP candidate even WITH Jordan in the league. He was BETTER than people thought he was, but Shaq took most of the shine..
When you see them kind of numbers going up, you got to hurry up and get back. Don't wo r the front office to see they don't need you. 😂😂😂 They were built to win it. They had about 8 players that were interchangeable with the 1,2, and 3. They could have won with a solid lower tier big. Them Boyz were DEEP
@@rodrickthompson2799 I don't remember them being deep off the bench, but starters? Yeah. They didn't need Shaq.
I loved watching Penny growing up, but honestly forgot just how good he was. That rebound to behind the head no look dime in the air is so insane
TRUE!!! Unselfish!! !!! Who DOES period , a rebound/ no look pass!!! TEAM PLAYER
Penny foot work is bouncy and smooth. No other player by far has that.
🤌🏻
Penny was the man! Skills unparalleled to most NBA players
It really bothers me that people downplay the talent in the 90's to make one player look better. If we had a guy with the same game Penny had in today's game he would be a superstar in today's game. Hell, imagine him playing in today's game with all the resources and soft calls🤦🏽♂️. Dude would be a literal nightmare
Exactly and that's why I don't go back and forth with this younger generation. They only care about what they can see with their own eyes. We were blessed to see great talents like penny and many others that will be unfortunately forgotten.
He would average 30p-9a-6r in today's soft league EASILY, based on his skill set. Right up there with Lebron & Luka numbers. EASILY.
Sga
Imagine 90s players with access to the medicine and technology that advanced with time. Hell, or them with access to the steroids Lebron uses, the sky is the limit.
@@Triads297this sga is crap compared to penny. It’s not even close.
Some of the nastiest passes I’ve ever seen in this video. The most gifted guys always seem to get the injury bug. Unfortunate.
I LOVE Penny. California magic fan here. Grew up watching him. Had his jersey too
😤😤🐐
One of my FAVORITE Players of alltime, very much a ‘once in a lifetime’ talent. Penny was 🔥🔥🔥🔥!
All time favorite player .pure player that just loved the game
☄️☄️
Penny, T-Mac, Grant Hill, Brandon Roy... all had potential to be among the GOAT's if it weren't for injuries. Such a shame really.
Biggest what if
With Grant Hill. If Penny and Grant played Kobe and T Mac 2 on 2, Penny and Grant would win.
Everytime I see a penny or grant hill highlight I always say what if man I can't leave out tmac he was fluid also👍🏾💪🏾
This dude had the whole package
Man Penny college highlights also and hs. I remember being at the game with my dad as a kid when he posterized Sam Mitchell still one of my top ten dunks of all time.
After Magic Johnson, Penny would be my all time starting PG
Lil Penny telling Big Penny is it the Shoe's 😂😂😂
He was a special player. Court vision, can drive to the hoop, shoot, pass. He would dunk on everyone including Hakeem and Rodman. He was fearless.
Wish there would be another one like penny. So entertaining to watch
Pe0nny killing em
😤😤🔥
The Only guys 👟 s MJ ever wore and the first player with kicks that costed more than Js and Sold Out the Penny Foams Penny Suffered the worst from his injuries because it took away his mid Air Mastery he had the MJ type Hang time with the Clyde type gliding ability up in the air the D was all messed up because you didn't know if he was going to score himself or pass it 💯
That second yr Penny was the face of the NBA. Bring back c rock-lilpenny & put my guy in the Hall of Fame.
⭐️⭐️
People always make the argument for Grant Hill that was suppose to be the next one but I stand with my pov that it was suppose to be Penny
Penny was Magic Johnson with a jumper and bounce too bad my guy got injured
Magic Johnson had a jumper already.
Penny was more athletic than magic but was not a better shooter.
@bdww4072 you joking right?😂😂 Magic is a great basketball player but a jump shot was not even in his arsenal.
@@melvinjonesjr1091 Not joking whatsoever and although he preferred the baby hook he absolutely had a jumper. He didn't shoot 3s until his comeback fat man season but during his prime he was hitting that mid range jumper all day.
I hope you understand that he averaged 20ppg for his career and back then you weren't getting anywhere near 10 layups or any shot at the rim because of the congested lane. Magic had a very nice baseline jumper and also shot well around the free throw line extended.
His 85%free throw percentage is even more proof he could shoot.
Save the emojis. I prefer to have a real conversation with data instead of crying or laughing faces because you want to make it seem as if someone disagreeing with you is outrageous.
Edit: I was wrong about the 3s. He actually shot a more than respectable 38 percent on almost 4 threes a game in 89-90.
@@bdww4072 Yes he was
Grant Hill was more Magic Johnson than Penny. Penny was more Jordan than you think.
Penny was a once in a lifetime player👍🏾
Shaq said when he first saw Penny play on set the movie Blue Chips he thought "Damn this actor is better than most of the guys in the NBA" 🤣 Then after he found out who he was Shaq, who had only just finished his rookie year was able to strong arm his franchise into passing on Chris Webber who was an absolute megastar in college and trade down for Penny. Great decision. Love me some C Webb but Penny was being anointed as the guy who would take the game to a new level kind of within a year of his career. He was this new modern player who had the size, the speed, the IQ, handles, scoring, passing you name it. That's kind of what a modern player is now but back then Penny and Grant Hill were starting to pioneer the positionless game we have today.
I really fight between him in T- Mac in the same place of my top 20 players but I always had him my 3rd favorite PG 🔥🔥
Crazy quick jumper.
On top of his amazing talent, he was humble and chill. 90s Magic was just sick and to this day just seeing those iconic pin-stripe unis takes me back, sitting on the floor of my room watching NBA on NBC …those were the days.
So many what ifs in the history of the NBA. What a talent. Had it all really and a PG with that developed of a post game that early is kinda wild.
FACTS!
Crazy how Penny and Ken Griffey Jr. were so many levels above their competitors and both got hurt. They were literally the same people in different sports.
That’s a perfect comparison. I was thinking the same thing. Both Penny and Griffey Jr were arguably the most gifted/talented players to ever play their respective game yet injuries sidelined their careers. I think if Griffey doesn’t get plagued by injuries, he goes down as the undisputed GOAT.
I’m wearing number 1 because of him and TMac.
I’m fifty years old. I’m a bulls fan and remember how penny use to give it to Jordan and the bulls. Penny would dominate today in this modern age basketball.
man, Penny was my favorite as a kid. He was so cold with his game! Many were calling him the next Magic (no pun). But he actually embodied it. No one knew what he was gonna do when the ball got into his hands.
Even though he was 6'7" I'd argue that he was the quickest NBA player ever. As soon as he gets the ball, he starts this dance with his defender. No matter where on there court! Everyone in the building knew! INCLUDING the guy that's "guarding" him!!! That. he. would. not. have. been. a. ble. to. keep. up...COLD.
was my fav player in 96, used to make 70 points with him in nba live 97😂
Best teammate Shaq ever had! Injuries ruined his career.💯
Fav player, dude can do it all both on def and offense.
This is so great! You are showing some clips that I have never seen - and I have seen A LOT! So thank you and I wish you have more to come! Thanks so much!
Amazing collection of highlights I’m the biggest penny fan and some of these clips I’ve never seen. Awesome job.
His Memphis highlights are his prime work
😂
Gifted is a term thrown around a lot when it comes to athletes NBA players in particular. The whole hand eye coordination thing for us men! 😂 but penny was most definitely gifted! 🎁
Bruh this brotha was so 🥶
🐐🐐
He was so fun to watch back in the day. He had so much swag in his game.
Now this the greatest what if of all time, after him its Drose
That ain't cool he did my cousin b.j Armstrong like that 😢😂😂😂
One of the best of all time that nobody talks about...his first few years? Would love to see a player copy the footwork
Penny my one and only all time fave player of all time till now and no one else.
Such an underrated player! We loved Penny back in the 1990's and early 2000's.
One of the Coldest!
My all time favorite player. He still the most skilled player I ever seen. Great video!
His style WAS THE TIME. He ushered in the evolution of the sport right after MJ.
He used to give MJ that work
Bro if the injuries didn't happen he would have been an all time great still my favorite player dude had serious game shoutout to Penny
Jordan was the 1st of his kind then came Penny and all the other Elite Skill/Athletic Guard /Wing etc. who dominated the Perimeter.
There’s only one time when Jordan wore another player Signature Shoe in his career and that was Penny’s cause game recognize game.
He ahead of the present time
He was my favourite player when I was younger. I didn't really understand basketball too well or why MJ was considered a god. I just knew Penny had such grace to his movement, it was fun to watch. He just wasn't the same after his knee injury
When people say the word "different" this is the definition. A skilled and gifted wiz kid on the court.
Only player that truly rivaled Jordan's brand
The Foamposites were Superb.
The 90's is the Pinnacle of all 4 major sports. No other decade can touch it.
One of the most complete players to ever play
💯💯💯
Magic wish he could shoot like that magic could not even shoot
He actually had a nice jumper
@@HEYSERGNot outside 20 ft he didn't.
@@daowonimdee that was all he needed
@@HEYSERG you should go back and actually watch basketball
Ok 🥸
Penny Hardaway = Dominant performance, his low post moves were absolutely impeccable!😁😁👍👍
it is crazy i have seen a lot of these highlights in person
1 of a million🔥
Spazzin in the foams
Had he never got hurt your looking at a top 10 player of all time imo....
All due respect to all the big guards and swingmen before him. Like the magics, Pippen, drex, oscar, even jordan. This guy was the evolution of the combo guard. Most athletic swing man to thid day could play the 1, 2, and 3
Without injuries I think he's on Mount Rushmore with Kobe, LeBron, and Jordan.
Yea penny was my fav player growing up him and jordan but a cold moment I remember was he had lil penny sitting court side next to spike in the garden
🤝🤝
Penny highlight reels just hit different, man.
💯💯
My all-time fantasy team: Wemby, McGrady, P Hardaway, Curry, De'Aaron Fox
No one can say they don't like Penny. One of the elite players during the already stacked 90's. MJ, Kobe, Hill, and Penny had the most beautiful game of Al all time. Mr favorite was Shawn Kemp though (because of the dunks and swagger).
The all-time what-if team: Sampson, Bias, P Hardaway, D Thompson, Rose.
He was the best all rounder PG of all time,
Truly way way ahead of his time. So much that even today, players cannot copy or execute the moves he did back in the day.
If it wasnt for his injuries, tehy could have made Magic dynasty right there and then, could have won rings with Shaq still on board and rewrite the very history of NBA.
That Pass to Horace.
Penny was a human highlight reel😤🍿
He was my favorite player in the 90s growing up with Lil Penny😂
😈🐐
Dude was special and could do it all. Shaq's ego and injuries ruined what should have been an even better career. When basketball is debated much respect should always be put on Penny's name.
Penny was a baller. Prime Penny was the best. 👌
Injuries not only robbed Penny of true greatness, it also ruined it for the true fans of great basketball.
Penny, Tracy, Vince, and Grant are all on the same category of greatness. The "what if no injuries" kind. Such a shame they did not reach their true potential and were not able to play at their peak for a long period of time.
💯💔
People always hype up Tim but I always thought Penny had a better handle. Did you see that float dribble? Approached quick, lul them to sleep and then hit them with the hard cross. Tim was always full speed, but Pennys pacing was elite. He could go slow, fast, then back to slow. Guys weren't utilizing the float dribble at all till after Penny was already out of the league
Do a video on " Jerry Stackhouse " his prime years with Detroit Pistons
✍️✅
He and Grant HIll were one of the "what ifs" of the nBA! Brandon Roy too! Penny was a handful for Jordan back then! Penny was cold! Guy had no weakness!
100% FACTS!💯
Dopest style of all time
Penny was the most exciting player during those early years
💯
When it comes to charisma/aesthetic in the physical realm of basketball:Michael Jordan & Penny Hardaway are the best of all time imo.
💯💯
Honorable mention for G Hill too
Penny came on the floor each night like Santa Clause dude bag was so heavy!💪😤👍
😤😼
The scary part is penny didn’t reach his peak/prime before his knee injury that robbed him of his explosiveness. Without a doubt a generational talent even with the few good years he had
Penny was truth natural dominant skill set
Highlights dnt do Penny justice u had to see it
