As someone who was born & raised on the Southside of Chicago, it was an absolute pleasure watching DRose live out every Chicago kid’s dream. There was nothing like watching Derrick do his thing. Watching it live and in person was electrifying. He’s on a short list of the greatest players I’ve ever seen & I’ll forever be proud to say, “He’s one of ours”.
First time i went to the USA i bought tickets to see Bulls - NY and it was mindblowing.. His first step was deadly, and something often underlooked was his passing skills My fav player of all time, i started watching NBA seriously when he got drafted, what a player Enjoy your retirement Mr Rose, well deserved
D Rose was our hero growing up in Chicago, I cant explain how much we loved him and those Bulls teams from 2010-2014. His injuries were tragic because he would've had an absolutely amazing career if they didn't happen, but he still had a good one and should be commended for persevering thru those injuries and still being an asset to any team he was on. He only retired cause the Bulls didn’t want to sign him to a one year deal. He not only would pay his contract over a few times, he earned the right to get a year then walk away with his last game being played in the NBA as a Chicago Bull
U might be on to something I think he retired based off the role Memphis gave him and he wasn’t messing with it. Y’all notice he was in great shape. U retired right before training camp, why not do it in the summer. He basically sat the last 3 seasons. He probably wanted to play but last minute changes happened to the roster. Another thing Memphis had like 4 point guards. With Rose being the oldest I just don’t think the team looks at him as any option for them.
The thing that always stands out to me for Rose, is he did true ankle breakers. Nowadays, most “ankle breakers” you see are actually the defender either getting tripped up by the offensive player’s feet or the offensive player doing a push off of some sort. When you watch the plays Rose did on Andre Miller and Tyreke Evans though, those are real ankle breakers. Rose just uses his speed and shiftiness to cause the defender to trip all on his own. Rose really was something else. Happy retirement to my favorite player.

My favorite player together with Michael Jordan. It was a joy and a privilege to have watched him play all of his career, especially from 2009-2012 where, in my opinion, he was the best player in basketball. Wishing you all the best, Mr. Rose.
I watched EVERY DRose game back in his Bulls days. He easily could have 5 top 25 plays lists. The layups he use to make in the course of a season was ridiculous. Most of them people have never even seen unless you were watching that specific game.
Living in Memphis, I was a fan since he came to U of M to play, where he took us to the championship game where we lost to a last second buzzer beater by UNC. Watching him come back to play his last season w the Griz gave me a deep joy. He wasnt MVP caliber by that time, but he was the star of the show every game for me.
#8 was actually crazy. Rose got his hand over the square on the middle of the backboard. Crazy hops to get up that high as a 6'3 guard. He got up higher than 7'1 Chandler which left him even surprised/frustrated

I don’t think people understand how far ahead d rose was when in the league when fully healthy. They went to a ECF against prime heat and I remember even though the bulls lost people knew to watch out for d rose and thibs.
