Hey bud that’s awesome.. projects that sit around are easy to get left and hard to get started again but soon as you get back into it you will love it again. Thank you mate 👍👍
wish you made the video few weeks back, had to change the inner on my 2.0L caddy but couldnt find a decent how to vid so just change the whole shaft. top job and nicely explained though.
Great work there Nathan and thank you for the video. Totally understand the cv job not being a favourite of yours. Full credit to you in stripping the driveshaft down and keeping it oe as most would have just bought a cheap pattern replacement. Have a great weekend mate.
Hey Karl thank you mate 👍 I much rather save genuine parts than use the cheap new stuff, if I had more money I would have bought a genuine inner cv joint. You have a great weekend to 🙏👍
Hi Nathan, another nice video with good explanations, thank you! On the Merc W639 was the same play on the cv joints. The technical support told us to use Loctite 638 on the teeth and let it dry 24 hours. It worked mint, no play after apply it. The Merc had the exact same noise. Regards Greg
Hey Greg that’s interesting I’ve heard the same thing for Volvo driveshafts actually, never used it but I’ll definitely bear it in mind if this one starts making the noise again. Thank you 👍👍
Quality work on yours as always, mate… and that definitely look messy. And I didn’t think things through when I left my Caddy with you to sort out the bonnet not undoing… I’ve seen how you open boxes with a chainsaw 😮

I have changed a lot of CV joints in my time, and I absolutely hate those jobs. But somehow I find it interesting watching you do it 🙂 Those jobs even gets messy with gloves 😅 When I was an apprentice 20 years ago I always got those messy jobs. Worked with Citroens back then, and my hands had a green shine from all the LHM oil.

Another great video bud, i binged watched nearly every video of yours over the last week, back in the early days of the channel, every video is excellent! good luck with the bonnet catch...utter pain of a job, i got mine with a long pick tool, but wrecked the cable, took hours though. great instructive video this one, nice one
Ah did you see that 👌 I was going to zoom in on that shot but decided not to, I very rarely drop or miss something that falls like that but even this one impressed me as I wasn’t even looking and talking to you guys. Thanks mate 👍👍
I used to fit stretchy boots for a quick mot pass... i was told..the stretch boots are fatter, weaker, and deform, when on full lock the bellows rub together, so the boot wears itself out against itself..
I have fitted a fair few of them to for mot purposes but as you say they just don’t last, I felt bad telling the customer 12 months later he needed to pay for another one. My local mot man has just bought a load of stretchy boots that promise not to crack so soon I will see how he gets on with them 👍👍
Brilliant approach to the CV joints Nath... that stuff is seriously gloopy, sticky, messy. I got an outer CV boot with a split in it... spraying g the wheel with all that gloop. You may have encouraged me to take mine off and mend it.... maybe 🤔😶
Love the videos, I think I’ve watched everyone for the T5! You’ve saved me a fortune as I’ve ended up doing loads of work on my T5 off the back of these A common problem is radial play in the steering wheel which is caused by the intermediate shaft. Mines got an annoying 5-10mm off free play in the wheel but my mechanic says it’s absolutely fine… Have you had any issues with this? If you ever look into it or replace I’d likely get the confidence to sort mine out myself as I don’t think it’s a big job
Hey bud ah thank you really appreciate the kind words and glad the videos are useful 🙏👍👍, my caddy has this play but I havnt looked into it, I’ll check the T5 next time I’m sat in it. Do you mean the steering coloumn? Ie the shaft inside the cab? Thanks
@@YTDTETV I believe it’s part number 7E2419751C that causes most of the steering wheel radial play with the T5’s. It seems pretty common from a bit of online digging but I havnt been brave enough to buy a replacement unit and start pulling bits apart without seeing someone else have done it first
@@VinnieTheVanno I’ve just eBay searched that number and seen one, yep I’ve changed a few of those in my time but not on a transporter, there a little uj joint in their i wonder if it’s the uj or the splines moving. On the cars I’ve replaced them on you can undo both ends then slide the shaft upwards inside and pull them out inside. When doing this make sure your wheels are pointing straight and have the steering lock on as if the steering wheel turns while apart not only will it be sat wonky while driving straight when you go on full lock it can damage the airbag ribbon behind the steering wheel. You can mark stuff with a black pen to double check when going back together 👍👍
Great video as always . Just noticed where my shaft goes in to gearbox on passenger side there is a small weep of oil could you help with this is it a seal and also how do you che k gearbox oil level
Hi Michael thank you 👍 so that would tell me it’s the drive shaft seal. You would need to drain the gearbox fully from the plug on the bottom then remove the drive shaft then under that is the cup, you need to undo the Allen key and remove that then you will see a seal. They come out with a screw driver or a hook pick then tap the new seal in so it sits flush. When filling the gearbox there is a matching plug the same as the drain half way up the gearbox, can’t remember if it’s on the side by the driveshaft or on the front, you then fill it with gear oil until the fluid starts overflowing out the filler hole and that is your level. Best way of checking the oil is to remove the filler plug and stick a shoe lace or something in there to see if it’s up to the hole or dropped. Hope that helps 👍
@@YTDTETV yes absolutely brilliant information as per all your videos. I'll check level first and keep monitoring it . Thanks again don't stop doing your videos

Hi bud yes I’ve done that before, it’s a case of either undo the clip on the boot so you can see where it’s going or if your lucky move the shaft around in there till it slots back in 👍
