I'm so glad Quentin Tarantino used these musical pieces in Kill Bill. It's just a reminder for those who have experienced it before from previous western movies and an introduction to those who have not heard it before. This is how you keep music this great alive.
I so agree with you. Even though the piece is shortened a bit for editing purpose in Kill Bill, weren't it for QT, I probably never would've had the chance to listen to this masterpiece. Ennio Morricone is the greatest.
What I love about this song in particular is that its from the soundtrack to one of the worst westerns ever made, Navajo Joe. The soundtrack, however, is phenomenal. I have it on LP, had to track it down on ebay. I would say more than any soundtrack, this influenced the feel of Kill Bill vol 2. Morricone brought his best no matter the film- and Tarantino gave this wonderful music its rightful place. It means so much more here.
Bill: Hum! Pai Mei taught you the five-point-palm-exploding-heart-technique? Beatrix: Course He did Bill: Why didn't you tell me? Beatrix: I don't know... because I'm a... bad person Bill: No, you're not a bad person, you are... terrific person, you are my favorite person, but every once and a while... you can be a real cunt Bill: How do I look? Beatrix: You look ready
When I watched Kill Bill for the first time the other day, I literally started shedding tears at 2:55 because this song makes Bill's death seem noble and inspiring. How he can just calmly walk into his destiny, entirely straight-faced, after everything that's happened....it's just emotionally overwhelming.
hahaha you know what's funny? Earlier this summer I watched "Navajo Joe" (starring Burt Reynolds) and then I watched Kill Bill, and QT nicked the song from Sergio Corbucci's 1966 spaghetti western of the same name. Im TELLING YOU: If you haven't in ten years, please, by God, watch "Navajo Joe". It's beautiful. Namaste.
Listening to this before the finale of Samurai Jack. The tale of the wandering samurai finally comes to an end. Thank you Genndy Tartakovsky, you are to animation what Tarantino is to films and Ennio is to music.
This is just one more reasons why movies like Twilight are forgotten after five years, while movies like Navajo Joe and the Dollars Trilogy are still remembered after over 50. Soundtracks just aren't made like this anymore.
+MrRoboto81 Morricone is doing the whole soundtrack for Tarantino's new western movie. Can't fucking wait for that. I am getting kind of tired of Zimmer and his rehashing of his older soundtracks.
I'd bet anything you were in elementary school when kill bill 2 was released. There's no way you'd make a ridiculous claim like that otherwise, banana sandwich.
+MrRoboto81 I was in elementary school when Kill Bill 2 was released and it's my favorite movie haha But, you can't criticize soundtrack's movies, especially for Twilight. I've never watched it, and i'm sure the movie sucks, but i know the sountrack is really good ! :)
Always loved this song. Decided to listen to it just now and then I realize that this is the song I'd use to describe my father's death. He passed seven days ago, and he deserves no less. This song justifies the honor by which he lived.
Sorry about your Dad passing. My Dad was named also Bill, and he fell dead on the grass, just like in Bill's death scene. This song is proper for such a solemn time.
@@thomassawicki2065 I don't understand. He posted this 9 years ago and we are only just seeing it..I hope he is doing okay and found his peace and prosperity in life. God bless you wookysnacky666 and you as well Thomas
I love this song. Every time I hear it I just fall in love with it brings me to tears, the ending is my favorite part of the song. Cause the kill bill movies. The person that's singing at the end it's just amazing.
I really love this. My husband introduced me to Kill Bill, vol. 1 and 2, a couple weeks ago. I was wary of them, but I fell in love with them after watching them both. This is a perfect song for Bill’s death scene.
Another proof that Tarantino is a genius- because even for the soundtrack, he only wanted the best. And who could give the most dramatic melody for a death scene than Ennio? Simply sensational, now and then.
It don't take a genius to recognize beauty, all that takes is ears, tarantino cherry picks things from cinema but he has nothing new or original to offer the viewer, just nostalgia repackaged
Ennio Morricone. Der Mount Everest der Filmmusik. Dieses Stück ist einfach unbeschreiblich. Filmmusik braucht Zeit sich zu entfalten. Ein Zitat von Ihm. In diesem Stück spürt man es. R.I.P Maestro
the part @ 2:55 ALWAYS got me when I heard it in Kill Bill! I always had to watch that scene 3 or more times. I'm so happy to have finally found the full version. =D
Navajo Joe is an inferior film overall, but this piece of music was used better in that one than in Kill Bill Vol. 2 (too stagey, you know). And Election's light comic touch is no bad either.
I spend the first three minutes of this song feeling somber and admittedly slightly disappointed compared to what I'd heard from Kill Bill but that fourth minute, oh mer gerd it gave me legitimate goosebumps and I think I music climaxed at the end of it.
It's called a crescendo, a build up to something greater and it would not be this great without the first portion of the song. That's the problem with your generation (going by that profile picture), you want the orgasm without the build up to it.
@Lamporre Well actually, it plays during the scene where Navajo Joe kills the Big Bad, but in the process has been shot several times, and begins as he sits down to die.

I have legit goosebumps from listening to this track. Ennio Morricone is a musical genius.
You certainly got that correct .
The problem with Morricone tracks is finding ones that DON'T give you goosebumps, lumpy throats, or downright tears...
One of the best of Morricone's pieces.
Congrats to Ennio on the oscar! About time!
Amen brother!
Had to listen to this when I finished Red Dead Redemption. It just felt right.
Jesus man, don't make me cry again.

Love the two movies. Have seen both over 100 times. The end!!! What a feel good time!
Amazing no one mentioned in these comments about the movie this comes from... Sergio Corbucci's 1966 classic Navajo Joe
Listening to this before the finale of Samurai Jack. The tale of the wandering samurai finally comes to an end. Thank you Genndy Tartakovsky, you are to animation what Tarantino is to films and Ennio is to music.

I went to the last Morricone concert in the Verona's arena. So glad to had the opportunity to hear these beautiful tracks..

who of today's crap times we live, and not in music only, can write today such a masterpiece????? There are no words master Ennio Morricone
When the song drops my casket goes into the ground. That is my last wish.
Another proof that Tarantino is a genius- because even for the soundtrack, he only wanted the best. And who could give the most dramatic melody for a death scene than Ennio? Simply sensational, now and then.
well Tarantino actually borrowed the tune, just as he usually does, from the spaghetti western movies. Check the movie titled "Navajo Joe"
This is original score for Navajo joe by Sergio Corbucci who has inspired many Tarantino movies .
It don't take a genius to recognize beauty, all that takes is ears, tarantino cherry picks things from cinema but he has nothing new or original to offer the viewer, just nostalgia repackaged

kill bill used it best
Draco Meteor i totallly agree
Navajo Joe is an inferior film overall, but this piece of music was used better in that one than in Kill Bill Vol. 2 (too stagey, you know). And Election's light comic touch is no bad either.
The tune is from the movie " Navajo Joe", guys. Tarantino usually borrows such tunes from Ennio's spaghetti western soundtracks.
And because of "Kill Bill", it allowed many people to discover films like "Navajo Joe", "Lady Snowblood", "Death Rides a Horse" and so on.
"Pai Mei taught you the five point palm exploding heart technique..."
