This is really interesting. Perhaps they should film an episode filming, or film an entire day, and upload that to TH-cam, so that we can watch a whole episode being filmed, if we want to? :)

It was originally called mountain something i can’t remember the full title but the new boss at ITV hated the name and it only got the name we know when the maker over heard someone singing “who wants to be a millionaire?” Watch the drama that’s just aired called Quiz and there’s a full documentary about how the show became to be one of the biggest and most watched shows in British history.
I think the original Millionaire, in every aspect, will always be miles ahead of anything to come. It was a phenomenon. I would be very surprised if they ever hit those highs again. It can only ever be new once. But I can see Jeremy Clarkson being a big draw for the show, just for who he is and the fan base of Top Gear and such being on board for his personality. I do think they've got the right person. He has that same sort of Chris Tarrant streak of rebelliousness which helps turn a potentially very dry and systematic format into something more fun and interesting.

I'd be very surprised if it hit much over the 7 million mark, the days of 19 million were a distant memory even during the final decade of the show. But I think the signs look good for it at the moments. Top Gear could hit between 5 and 7 million on BBC Two, so I would expect around 2 to 3 million viewers tuning in purely as Jeremy Clarkson devotees. Don't forget, this is his big comeback to terrestrial TV, so that alone will be a big deal. Plus, I think ITV are doing the right thing by scheduling the show in a similar way to when it all began. As an event over several consecutive nights, bulldozing through the prime time schedule. And early indications hint that the show is going back to the classic format, which will be great news if it does. The clock killed it. On the negative side, I do think they should have waited until later in the year and relaunched it on the exact day of the 20th anniversary. Purely because I think a May launch will damped the ratings potential, as it's not the best time of year for TV ratings.
