      Agreed. They have payload and towing and seats and other features for work but forgot the 6ft bed? They seem confused on who they are selling to. Daily driver/recreational truck=GM & Toyota. Work orientated=Nissan & Toyota 6ft. beds but the nod to the Nissan with the simpler engine.

    I'll admit the Ranger is the most capable mid size. After seeing Toyota's latest effort this is best in class. I owned a 2014 Ranger overseas and really liked it. Its not so cramped inside like most mid sizes. It the goldy locks of mid size trucks.

    A carryover engine is not a big deal. I'd rather have them support an engine for 20 years making small improvements over time, only making reliability better. (King quad, brute force, grizzly 🤔)
    Sadly people think old is boring and bad.
    And I get it, they want to make people want new. But the industry has a normal cycle. Rich get new every 2/3 years, middle gets mildly used and own for 5+ years. Poor pick up what works.

    Those grey panels from the sport appearance package do wonders for the front end, it just doesn't look right to me with one color over the whole front. I wish it still had a real steel front bumper like the previous one, though, the ones on my previous gen have saved my truck not once but twice when people hit my parked truck.
    I'll be interested to drive one of these new ones and see how the ride compares to my 2020 on Blistein 5100s, which were a huge upgrade and transformed the truck IMO, especially for towing.
    One thing that bugs me is seeing that those huge running boards are stock on the FX4. Even with a bit of front lift from the Bilsteins and slightly oversized tires, nobody's ever had an issue getting into my truck, not even my 5'7" 77 year old dad or a 5'1" female friend who's been in my truck a bunch, and those steps are just gonna get in the way off road.

      Not that it should cost this. But when am equilavent f-150 to that lariat Ranger is 75kish it kinda makes sense. It’s all priced 10-15k too high. But price wise it lives up.

    Lot's of bean counter cost cutting, no rear vents or 3 zone temp control, cheap bench rear seat with no split for storage with a passenger, would be a perfect platform for the flat floor and split fold like an f150, the off the shelf tailgate assist, some cheap looking plastics on the interior especially the center console area and knobs, no convex mirror because you can't have it with bliss? Just not as nice as I had hoped for, especially for over 50k on the lariat.

    If I were to trade up to the new Ranger my pick would be the XLT model, with the new 2.7 V6, tow package, FX4 package, and heated seats, block heater. Living in a northern state these are essentials IMO.

    Ford did the 1 thing it said it would never do. They gave up on the full size bumper and appeared to use plastic like others. Looks rather nice and looking forward to actually seeing them in person and especially the Raptor version with the bigger ECO boost !

    Work purchased a 2019 for me back when it for came out. I absolutely love everything about it.. BUT this new 2024 model took care of all the little tweeks it was missing. My truck now has 62k+ miles on the odometer and I NEVER once had a single issue with it and I drive this thing like I stole it, HARD. Their looking into this '24 model now for me, and I hope it's as reliable as my current '19 Ranger because I can vouch, this babynwas built on a Wednesday for sure! Haha👍

    Great review as always. I was hoping to get one of these when I was looking to replace my old truck last year... but the delays in getting it to the US market were too much for me. That blue XLT you were driving was basically exactly how I would have spec'd mine. I really like what Ford has done to it. I just wish they would have hurried up a little lol.

    If the 2.3 is a mechanical carry-over, does the tuner from ford still work on it? 2.3 with 310/370 vs a 2.7 with 325/400 seems like a marginal improvement.

    The biggest drawback of this car is that it doesn't have the 4x4 Auto on any of the trims, which can be a massive headache up north during the in-between seasons.

    • @cymerus2
      @cymerus2 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@teddonley9594 I had the "pleasure" of finding out the hard way what it's for when I switched from an AWD car to a 4x4 truck without the Auto option, and almost ended up in a ditch when I turned left from a high traffic road to a side road with a decent snow cover. My previous car wouldn't even care in such conditions because it would engage all wheels instantly and the new one struggled to recover, because you obviously don't have time to enable 4x4 manually when trying to stay on the road lol. It is also a massive headache when you're parking a heavy truck in an area where there is a partial ice cover and it's a bit of an incline, because you need to turn 4x4 on and off depending on the surface and if your turning or not.

      @@jeffreybrown530 All you need is a bad day when you zone out or a moment of distraction, and you have a problem. Base Truck... sheesh 40k is a base midsized truck price now? It does come with a lot standard, but don't kid yourself, you are paying for all of it, hence 40k. Don't show me vinyl floors and try to say it's low end with it's 10 inch an 8 inch screens a powerful turbo engine, trailer back up assist etc. etc... but hey, I guess it's what everyone is buying.. maybe we should just start calling them "how much money can we charge and get away with truck" and all the brands are doing it now, not just picking on Ford.
