If you really dig deep especially in their older stuff, you know they’re VERY versatile in terms of sounds/genres to the point that they even revived a dead genre “psytrance” with their song Side Effects. They’ve done Rock, EDM, HipHop, Psytrance, Dance, Electro, Liquid Drum and Bass, Funky Breakbeats, House, LoFi Hiphop, Funk, Trap, Adult Contemporary, Experimental, Jungle, Glitch Hop, & many more!
I also recommend a deep dive into Stray Kids lyrics, because they are producers & lyricists at their core. Andy & Jas do an amazing job of lyric deconstruction cause they are fluent in Korean & English. They explain the double meanings, the world play, & the Korean cultural references in their lyrics. I already loved Stray Kids but when I watch Andy's deconstruction of Hans "I Got it" my mouth dropped open!!! I gained a whole new level of respect for them. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I agree. Their lyrics are more meaningful and clever than you can simply get from a translation. And while I could see that to some extent, but until I heard some of their breakdowns on language, I didn't realize just how good they were of writers.

Girl, I’ve also been listening to kpop for a while now, I’ve been an “Army” (which I thought I was because I truly loved BTS members, I enjoyed their music and I supported them all. I still do, actually), and I’ve told everyone they were the one and only in the kpop industry. Stray Kids came into my life and showed me how wrong I was. I deeply love them, their music, their beautiful messages, the way they connect my heart to theirs… Honestly, I’ve never had such a wonderful bond with any artist, and they made that possible. So, I guess it’s not about the “objectivity” you are trying to impose me, but the way they make me feel. Performance, lyrics, stage presence, blah blah… Stray Kids have it all, and they don’t want to be like anyone else.

Please do a deep dive into stray kids! You guys would probably like a lot of their songs! I have a playlist of mostly their relatively rap heavy songs (it’s all the songs I really like and most of the songs I really like are there more rap heavy songs) and that playlist has over 70 songs in it. (Plus they would have more rap heavy songs that I don’t love and aren’t in my playlist)
For a non hype song i'd recommend Collison written by just Han, there's rap parts but it's more chill & I love the vibe, skz have such a well balanced discography I would recommended going more in depth with them they are truly unmatched imo
yes Tiger JK is truely the GODFATHER of KHIP HOP him and he wife YOON MIRAE are the most influencial couple in a krap industrie they're label lauch and wrote for multiple rapper during the 2 last decade .
Stray Kids has done over 40 genres however they have a specific style that seeps into all of those and makes it their own. Even in their slower more pretty songs theres a lot of unique sounds and amazing raps. Stray Kids are also unique in how much control they have had over their music and image since the very beginning that no other group has ever had.

They’ve been able to reject any song the company gives them since debut? Like the ceo said he was scared to show his song to 3racha because of the fact that they could reject it unlike his other artists. And they didn’t let him do the whisper tag. They’ve decided on the line distributions as a team since debut? They’ve all always been allowed to drop a song whenever they like without company interference? They did things in their rookie days like ignore the company’s request to lower the key of the song and then make their next title track (their debut) an even higher key to prove a point? The answer to all of that is no for BTS and yes for Stray Kids. I’m not saying BTS doesn’t have a lot of control over their stuff but it has not been that way their whole careers and it’s just not in the way skz has since predebut. And through that stray kids have developed a very experimental and distinct sound. It’s not a knock to BTS or anyone else just an observation of how different skz’s development is to the majority of the industry that’s why I didn’t name names.

It’s obviously much more common now with 4th gen compared to other generations. JYPE has almost no say in that sort of thing, they can give suggestions but stray kids has the final say. And within that stray kids were not formed through a tv show, the tv show was made after Bang Chan picked the members and name so they could prove themselves ready for debut. If they weren’t, ITZY would have debuted that year. They were an experimental group that had never occurred in kpop before for a company to have such a hands off approach. Skz is 6 years into their career and just went on their first ever variety show 2 weeks ago. So yeah bts did get their popularity because of the amount of control they have over their music and Stray Kids gained their popularity for the same way but even more so.

"The answer to all of that is no for BTS and yes for Stray Kids" 1. handpicking members (and from a select pool- jyp trainees in the appropriate range btw) has nothing to do with creative freedom and image or sound, its just a unique way of forming a group 2. even blackpink chose their own name like come on... 3. its not like bts were ever forced to have a song they didnt want by the company. (even their english stuff- they did it because they thought it would be fun) 4. bts do decide their own line distribution, they have literally said so multiple times. 5. bts also drop songs randomly when they want like i can also make a list of extra stuff that have relatively nothing to do with the creative control over music/sounf and overall image... example: a bts member decided to direct a music video. It's okay to like both equally without corparing! And it's okay to prefer one over another! The artists have gone through different eras and certain songs can be prefered by some people more than others
BTS and Stray Kids comparisons don't bother me. I think it is natural for someone reviewing the work of artists to compare them or their music to others that may have similarities or thinks you like and dislike. That is unless someone aruges that Stray Kids is trying to be BTS or is "the next BTS". In that case, I believe it disrepects and diminishes both groups.
People shouldn’t be scared to say they like Stray Kids a little better or better than BTS? Everyone has a preference and you should be entitled to that. BTS is good and so is Stray Kids .. Stray Kids is just on a different level
stray kids is really the kings of 4th gen !! they are a self-produced group and one of the unique things abt them that other groups dont have is the leader, bang chan, handpicked all skz members by himself before debut, not the company
You did not even listen to SKZ properly to make a comment on their music because listening to their main releases = knowing their sound. SKZ sounds NOTHING like BTS and they play with their sound a lot (those comments on pots and pans and noise music did not come out of nowhere). If I would describe SKZ music, they would be the niche of kpop. Kpop is wide ranging but SKZ would the oddballs of the kpop coz they just sound like them. If you listen to their whole discography, then you’d know that they sound like SKZ aka 3RACHA. Specifically you would know their styles. Even Changbin, Hand and Bangchan have their individual sounds that all Stray Kids avid listeners can recognize based on their individual sounds coz we just know if a song is made by either Han or Bangchan or Changbin individually coz they just have that specific sound. Them as individual vs them as 3RACHA. That is why most of the time I would not watch any Army trying to listen to SKZ coz most of you are trying to find BTS in SKZ when they are definitely NOT BTS. They have different composers, production, styles, even Han/Changbin raps are different. I do not get why you are looking for something that is not there. Another thing to note is SKZ is definitely one to make fun of themselves, yup even on ‘serious’ songs like Topline (the fake SKZ money? The money ‘laundering’ aka literally laundering money), S-Class (the rubbish truck? The octopus? Seungmin listening to music in the middle of world war?), they DO not take themselves seriously and poking fun is their whole thing. Anyhow, I am not angry or anything but I fail to see what you are looking for after a few SKZ videos other than to validate your belief that BTS is the best and for your fellow army to be your echochamber.
I don’t blame them for comparing them to bts lol. For one, that’s who they have mostly reacted to. Two, bts have set a standard that makes it hard NOT to compare. Doesn’t mean this group or that group isn’t as good or not talented. There are SO many kpop groups that it’s bound to happen. Like how 4th gen groups get compared to eachother daily. It’s normal. Both groups are extremely talented.
Stray Kids B-Sides are so good but understand I don’t think they are necessarily your cup of tea. They are in their own lane because they are experimental and some people don’t like it. They are a lot more rap heavy but at the same time have beautiful ballads and fun EDM/Trap tracks. I dont know they are just different. I usually don’t watch your videos because of the constant need to compare to BTS. I just don’t get why but ok. I just feel that people either like the music or they don’t. ❤ No hate cuz we are used to it. One day people will realize that Stray Kids are Stray Kids and will enjoy them as artists. Nothing less. All I'm saying is, I listened to bts and didn't like any of it. First song I heard of bts was fire. First song I listened to of stray kids was Maniac and I was instantly sucked in. I was like "well maybe it's the same as bts and I just found a banger." So I listened to their other songs. I was wrong. For me their sound is unmatched in kpop, and it's hard for me to find songs I like that are kpop. I even asked my Alexa to play some kpop songs. Everytime I was tapping my foot or nodding my head to the beat I would ask and it was stray kids. I like their sound more than bts. I'm not saying bts is bad. It's just not my taste and I just don't enjoy them. Stray kids on the other hand got me humming along even a little bit of dancing so they match me better. I also like the fandom better as a large portion of STAYs are funny and warm people.

I think it's a mixture of Stray Kids bass and how they utilize Felix's voice. Cause his voice always floors me. Also the fact that stray kids actually speaks my language on constant basis that's great too. I also like that they don't leave us out when it's a live stream or even when thanking their fans. The difference is that ALL Stray Kids music comes directly from SKZ. They have support but do the main body of their work independently. Tiger JK is just on another level. That is why I say there are k-pop rapper and then there are Rappers. Both have value but there is a huge difference. Well, in my opinion Stray kids have more rap centered songs than BTS. They don’t concentrate much on regular k pop ballads, that’s why they are not as loved in Korea as they are worldwide. So it’s definitely worth to give it a try for the less popular b side tracks.
korea just doesnt like most kpop in general and especially most kpop boy groups. if skz consecrated on "regular kpop ballads" it still would really not make a difference.

NCT- had one song that charted very well because it was a remake of a famous korean song. and bts and bigbang have around just as many ballads as stray kids tbh so really korea just doesnt have a lasting interest or interest at all in most boy groups regardless of genre...its nothing personal to stray kids

I feel kinda the same way you guys do: I’m kinda new to k pop and while bts is great, stray kids is more to my taste. I like it since both groups are different and unique in their own way.
I thought that BTS is the only group, there are no other groups who will perform like this and who else will hook you with their music and charisma... well, so, Stray Kids once appeared on the MAMA stage and then I realized that this is it what I wanted. I realized how they can still shoot videos and work with a camera, which I have not yet seen from other groups. And of course, their style and variety of genres in music did not leave me indifferent. These are two different groups, but it is Stray Kids who have 90% of the songs in their albums.
Yeah I think most people will agree that, eventhough i have never been into BTS, BTS would be the well established and official Kings of 3rd gen, and that no one is taking that. And Stray Kids are leaders of 4th gen for sure.

For me, Stray kids are top. BTS is talented and the best of 3rd gen but had Stray Kids been out then I feel they would have surpassed BTS. Stray Kids have 8 vocalists, 8 rappers, 8 dancers, 8 visuals AND they write and produce most of the stuff on their own. They win hands down.

You should react to Taeyong's Shalala! He is the leader of NCT127 and all of NCT and this is his first solo minialbum title track! NCT are the best in my opinion.
i think you should deep dive into stray kids to even start a comparison with bts bc their most popular songs are not representative of their colors at all. and when you do, you'll see these two groups have nothing in common, whether their approach in music, composing, writing lyrics, style, genre. Both are good at what they're doing and it's a matter of taste so i think comparing them is useless.

Girl, I’ve also been listening to kpop for a while now, I’ve been an “Army” (which I thought I was because I truly loved BTS members, I enjoyed their music and I supported them all. I still do, actually), and I’ve told everyone they were the one and only in the kpop industry.
Stray Kids came into my life and showed me how wrong I was. I deeply love them, their music, their beautiful messages, the way they connect my heart to theirs… Honestly, I’ve never had such a wonderful bond with any artist, and they made that possible. So, I guess it’s not about the “objectivity” you are trying to impose me, but the way they make me feel.
Performance, lyrics, stage presence, blah blah… Stray Kids have it all, and they don’t want to be like anyone else.

I have a playlist of mostly their relatively rap heavy songs (it’s all the songs I really like and most of the songs I really like are there more rap heavy songs) and that playlist has over 70 songs in it.
(Plus they would have more rap heavy songs that I don’t love and aren’t in my playlist)
For a non hype song i'd recommend Collison written by just Han, there's rap parts but it's more chill & I love the vibe, skz have such a well balanced discography I would recommended going more in depth with them they are truly unmatched imo

Stray Kids has done over 40 genres however they have a specific style that seeps into all of those and makes it their own. Even in their slower more pretty songs theres a lot of unique sounds and amazing raps. Stray Kids are also unique in how much control they have had over their music and image since the very beginning that no other group has ever had.

They’ve been able to reject any song the company gives them since debut? Like the ceo said he was scared to show his song to 3racha because of the fact that they could reject it unlike his other artists. And they didn’t let him do the whisper tag. They’ve decided on the line distributions as a team since debut? They’ve all always been allowed to drop a song whenever they like without company interference? They did things in their rookie days like ignore the company’s request to lower the key of the song and then make their next title track (their debut) an even higher key to prove a point? The answer to all of that is no for BTS and yes for Stray Kids. I’m not saying BTS doesn’t have a lot of control over their stuff but it has not been that way their whole careers and it’s just not in the way skz has since predebut. And through that stray kids have developed a very experimental and distinct sound. It’s not a knock to BTS or anyone else just an observation of how different skz’s development is to the majority of the industry that’s why I didn’t name names.

I actually do know a lot about BTS because they’re also one of my ults. And through that I know that the company did control a lot of their image at debut. Yes they made the music but the company still made the primary decisions like theme, line distribution, and overall sound of the album. Skz have final say on all those things. I also know that they have had songs get shot down by the company. Taehyung literally talked about how he wrote a Christmas duet that he wanted to do with Jimin but the company said to do it with a girl bc “the lyrics wouldn’t make sense”, so we never got the song. It’s disingenuous for you to say otherwise because BTS themselves have talked about how they had to gain more control over time that they didn’t have until they became shareholders. JYPE has almost no say in that sort of thing, they can give suggestions but stray kids has the final say. And within that stray kids were not formed through a tv show, the tv show was made after Bang Chan picked the members and name so they could prove themselves ready for debut. If they weren’t, ITZY would have debuted that year. They were an experimental group that had never occurred in kpop before for a company to have such a hands off approach. Skz is 6 years into their career and just went on their first ever variety show 2 weeks ago. So yeah bts did get their popularity because of the amount of control they have over their music and Stray Kids gained their popularity for the same way but even more so.

in regards to that taehyung Christmas song.
the company didnt think the lyrics "fit two men to sing" so he recoded it with adora instead.
but because of that taehyung decided not to release the song, the fact that he could decide that even after company money, time and resources were wasted in recoding and finalizing the song should tell you something.
and a couple years later he and jimin went on to release their song "friends" which has lyrics that should technically fall under the same pretense but in a more extreme way so whatever discourse there was, was resolved.
and sure bts in more recent years have gotten other freedoms like jungkook being allowed to showcase his tattoos which he used to have to cover up, but in terms of image and sound they have always had freedom and arguably more than skz as i mentioned earlier.

It's okay to like both equally without corparing! And it's okay to prefer one over another! The artists have gone through different eras and certain songs can be prefered by some people more than others
BTS and Stray Kids comparisons don't bother me. I think it is natural for someone reviewing the work of artists to compare them or their music to others that may have similarities or thinks you like and dislike. That is unless someone aruges that Stray Kids is trying to be BTS or is "the next BTS". In that case, I believe it disrepects and diminishes both groups.

You did not even listen to SKZ properly to make a comment on their music because listening to their main releases = knowing their sound. SKZ sounds NOTHING like BTS and they play with their sound a lot (those comments on pots and pans and noise music did not come out of nowhere). If I would describe SKZ music, they would be the niche of kpop. Kpop is wide ranging but SKZ would the oddballs of the kpop coz they just sound like them. If you listen to their whole discography, then you’d know that they sound like SKZ aka 3RACHA. Specifically you would know their styles. Even Changbin, Hand and Bangchan have their individual sounds that all Stray Kids avid listeners can recognize based on their individual sounds coz we just know if a song is made by either Han or Bangchan or Changbin individually coz they just have that specific sound. Them as individual vs them as 3RACHA. That is why most of the time I would not watch any Army trying to listen to SKZ coz most of you are trying to find BTS in SKZ when they are definitely NOT BTS. They have different composers, production, styles, even Han/Changbin raps are different. I do not get why you are looking for something that is not there. Another thing to note is SKZ is definitely one to make fun of themselves, yup even on ‘serious’ songs like Topline (the fake SKZ money? The money ‘laundering’ aka literally laundering money), S-Class (the rubbish truck? The octopus? Seungmin listening to music in the middle of world war?), they DO not take themselves seriously and poking fun is their whole thing. Anyhow, I am not angry or anything but I fail to see what you are looking for after a few SKZ videos other than to validate your belief that BTS is the best and for your fellow army to be your echochamber.
I don’t blame them for comparing them to bts lol. For one, that’s who they have mostly reacted to. Two, bts have set a standard that makes it hard NOT to compare. Doesn’t mean this group or that group isn’t as good or not talented. There are SO many kpop groups that it’s bound to happen. Like how 4th gen groups get compared to eachother daily. It’s normal. Both groups are extremely talented.

Stray Kids B-Sides are so good but understand I don’t think they are necessarily your cup of tea. They are in their own lane because they are experimental and some people don’t like it. They are a lot more rap heavy but at the same time have beautiful ballads and fun EDM/Trap tracks. I dont know they are just different. I usually don’t watch your videos because of the constant need to compare to BTS. I just don’t get why but ok. I just feel that people either like the music or they don’t. ❤ No hate cuz we are used to it. One day people will realize that Stray Kids are Stray Kids and will enjoy them as artists. Nothing less.

All I'm saying is, I listened to bts and didn't like any of it. First song I heard of bts was fire. First song I listened to of stray kids was Maniac and I was instantly sucked in. I was like "well maybe it's the same as bts and I just found a banger." So I listened to their other songs. I was wrong. For me their sound is unmatched in kpop, and it's hard for me to find songs I like that are kpop.
I even asked my Alexa to play some kpop songs. Everytime I was tapping my foot or nodding my head to the beat I would ask and it was stray kids. I like their sound more than bts. I'm not saying bts is bad. It's just not my taste and I just don't enjoy them. Stray kids on the other hand got me humming along even a little bit of dancing so they match me better. I also like the fandom better as a large portion of STAYs are funny and warm people.

I think it's a mixture of Stray Kids bass and how they utilize Felix's voice. Cause his voice always floors me. Also the fact that stray kids actually speaks my language on constant basis that's great too. I also like that they don't leave us out when it's a live stream or even when thanking their fans. I personally don't mind the BTS and StayKids comparison, i think it's really interesting since skz are a more newer group and I notice ppl who listen to bts more tend to sometimes be drawn to skz a lot. Well, in my opinion Stray kids have more rap centered songs than BTS. They don’t concentrate much on regular k pop ballads, that’s why they are not as loved in Korea as they are worldwide. So it’s definitely worth to give it a try for the less popular b side tracks.
korea just doesnt like most kpop in general and especially most kpop boy groups.
if skz consecrated on "regular kpop ballads" it still would really not make a difference.

EXO- they haven't had a top 10 on melon since 2018 so idk where they are holding anymore...and their most recent song didnt even enter top 100.
NCT- had one song that charted very well because it was a remake of a famous korean song.
and bts and bigbang have around just as many ballads as stray kids tbh
so really korea just doesnt have a lasting interest or interest at all in most boy groups regardless of genre...its nothing personal to stray kids

I feel kinda the same way you guys do: I’m kinda new to k pop and while bts is great, stray kids is more to my taste. I like it since both groups are different and unique in their own way.

I thought that BTS is the only group, there are no other groups who will perform like this and who else will hook you with their music and charisma... well, so, Stray Kids once appeared on the MAMA stage and then I realized that this is it what I wanted. I realized how they can still shoot videos and work with a camera, which I have not yet seen from other groups. And of course, their style and variety of genres in music did not leave me indifferent. These are two different groups, but it is Stray Kids who have 90% of the songs in their albums.
Try to dive with straykids and You'll see the difference and how they are different from other kpop groups.

For me, Stray kids are top. BTS is talented and the best of 3rd gen but had Stray Kids been out then I feel they would have surpassed BTS. Stray Kids have 8 vocalists, 8 rappers, 8 dancers, 8 visuals AND they write and produce most of the stuff on their own. They win hands down.
Hmm I don’t think they would’ve surpassed them but definitely would’ve levelled with them because bts early albums are top tier imo. I might not stan them now but I still listen to those albums to this day.
Yea, the early albums.....ALL of SKZ are top tier. From the very first release before the debut to this recent album. Tho I will say I'm interested to see how BTS comes back after their military duties end.
@@jesilarie2294 I mean I agree but music is subjective because there’s definitely albums of skz I like more than others. Just like I like skz earlier albums more compared to recent. But really no one knows what will happen tbh lol bts might not even be a group in 2025. Kpop is so unpredictable.

@@jesilarie2294 I don’t even think people should compare to begin with lol groups from 2 different generations. It’s a 5 year old group compared to a 10 year old one. I was obsessed with BTS’ music in 2018-19 which also happens to be around their 5th year mark…. Even we have no idea what skz will sound like in their 10th year. And you’re right, the only thing similar is the fact that they dive into different genres but their sound is completely different!
You should react to Taeyong's Shalala! He is the leader of NCT127 and all of NCT and this is his first solo minialbum title track! NCT are the best in my opinion.

i think you should deep dive into stray kids to even start a comparison with bts bc their most popular songs are not representative of their colors at all. and when you do, you'll see these two groups have nothing in common, whether their approach in music, composing, writing lyrics, style, genre. Both are good at what they're doing and it's a matter of taste so i think comparing them is useless.
